I'm twenty and sadly still in college. I live with my awesome boyfriend who I love and adore. Although I give him a hard time with me acting like a five year-old I know he still loves me. I've always wanted to help out with the bills, but he doesn't even let me attempt to get a job. Times are a bit rough, but I know we'll make it one way or another.

I am twenty-three, twenty-four in a week. I'm your average white collar worker, and I live in an apartment with my darling boyfriend, Leonardo. Though he can be irritating at times with his childish behavior, I cherish him more than anything on this Earth. These days though, I'm extremely anxious about the future. My salary isn't enough to support the rent, Leo's college, and everything else on top of it. Though Leonardo offers to help, I keep telling him to concentrate on college. Now though, I don't know where to turn. I'm nearly bankrupt, although it's nothing Leonardo is knowledgeable about. I don't plan to let him know, either; I would gladly starve to keep him happy and worry free. Lately, however, I've been looking into other means of making money...

Leo grumbled as he stared over his Math problems. He was sitting at his and Aspen's small kitchen table. It was covered in piles of Math and English homework. Leo never understood Math really and it would probably never understand him. He had a B in the class, but only because he would stare at the problems he didn't know for hours before asking for help from Aspen. With a huff he threw his pencil down and rubbed his face. Pushing his Math homework away he grabbed his English work before calling Aspen's name, "Aspen~! I need heeeelpah~!" He whined in his oh so cute voice. He knew Aspen couldn't resist him no matter how annoying he was. Leo let out a yawn as he started looking over some of Shakespeare's plays. Oh how he despised the man.

Why is it that, as a culture, we are more comfortable seeing two men holding guns than holding hands?

Aspen pursed his lips, the large knife he grasped in his left hand hovering in midair over the chicken he had been about to butcher. He had to hand it to Leo; the kid could always pick the worst times to ask for help. Or maybe it was his own fault for not being able to say no to his darling boy. Sighing and setting the knife aside, he wiped away the perspiration that had formed on his brow from being in the cramped and heated kitchen area."Fine, but if you ever want dinner on the table you're gonna have to figure out how to do the work sooner or later!" he called back, wiping his hands on the apron he was wearing.

Shaking his head ruefully, Aspen made his way into the small living room where his boyfriend was seated, clutching Shakespeare in his hands, doing that adorable little pout that he wasn't even aware of. Aspen chuckled, resigned. It was official; he just couldn't say no to Leo. "Alright, smartass, what do you need help on?" he cooed, leaning over Leo's shoulder. He always called the object of his affection names; it was just one of his habits.

Leo looked up at his loving boyfriend and nipped his chin. He was not only needy, childish, and a smart a**; he was also a biter. It was truly a bad habit of his, but he couldn't help that Aspen tasted to good. Leo pointed a slender finger over to his Math work, "I do not understand that s**t they call Math." Oh, he was also a potty mouth. Aspen often hit him upside the head for using the worse curse words written or made up by the worse sailors. He looked back down at his over sized English book and began reading over the words. He mouthed them slowly while playing with his pencil. Mouthing the words silently to himself was the only way that Leo could read. He would once in a while chew on his lip on a small hole that was there. His lip rings use to go there, but recently the small area grew red and irritated. So he advise himself not to put anything in it.

Aspen scowled playfully, ruffling Leo's hair. "Only cuss when you need to, idiot," he muttered, studying his boyfriend's math over his shoulder. He frowned slightly; surely Leo didn't need help with this. It was ludicrously easy. "You're such a child," Aspen murmured affectionately, placing his head on top of the others. Taking Leo's hand in his own, he tried to explain the algebraic equations the best he could; he sometimes got carried away and solved the problems himself (or tried to), so he wasn't always the best teacher.

Once he had done the best he could, Aspen seated himself in the battered chair beside Leo, ready to explain a step if needed. Out of habit he reached into his pocket for a cigarette, swiping a lighter off of the haphazard table. To his great disappointment, the packet was nearly empty; he'd have to buy some more soon. A weary look crossed Aspen's face, though he tried to make it indiscernible to Leo. It was getting harder and harder not to admit that he simply didn't have the funds for luxuries such as smoking anymore, no matter how much he wanted to deny it. He'd have to stop sooner or later just to put food on the table. Hell, even if Leo didn't know it, the meals they had been eating for the last 3 nights were leftovers.

Aspen lit the cigarette with a shaky hand, taking a long drag. The situation of money was getting out of hand; he didn't know where to turn anymore. He just couldn't bring himself to burden Leo with the thought of bankruptcy. The kid was already having enough trouble with college as it was. There must be some other methods of making quick money...

The older man fell into a worried silence, resting his head on his hand, rolling the cigarette between his lips. What to do, what to do...Sighing, he stood up slowly. "You got anything else you need help on or should I make sure we don't starve?" he said gruffly, blowing a thin cloud of smoke into the air and forcing a grin onto his face.

Leo let out a small snort as Aspen ruffled his hair before taking a seat next to him. He pushed his answers and his English book aside listening to Aspen go over his Math problem. He nodded understanding most of it and took the pencil from Aspen every once in a while to work it out on his own. He still played with the small hole in his lip as he squeezed the others hand while he held it. He knew Aspen was stress trying to make ends meet. Sure Leo didn't know how much in the hole they were, but he knew it was bad enough that it stressed Aspen out. Leo had thought about calling his parents for help, but knew Aspen had some pride and probably wouldn't go for it. As the other stood he looked up at him smiling, "You can go cook now good sir." He said with a soft smile still holding onto his hand. Leo didn't care if they were eating left overs. He had grown to like Aspen's cooking so much he wouldn't really eat anything else made by anyone unless his boyfriend's hands touched it, "I'll clear the table off." He told him once more slightly playing with his lip again. He really needed to stop that or be able to his stud back in soon.

Aspen chuckled softly and ran a hand through Leo's hair once more. "Such a good kid. Don't mess with it," he added unhelpfully, noticing that the area around his boyfriend's lip had become red and irritated. With a quick "Love you" and a peck on the cheek, he retreated back to the cramped kitchen, snuffing out the used cigarette in the ash tray on the counter. Then, rubbing his hand together and grabbing the butcher knife off of the cutting block, he got to work.

Around 20 minutes later, the delicious aroma of chicken joined the cigarette smoke in the air. Aspen set the table and placed the half-eaten chicken in the middle. Like their recent meals, this one was also left overs, though the man tried to spice it up by pouring two glasses of cheap wine that a neighbor had given him. "Mm, eat up, love," Aspen said jovially, taking a sip of wine and smacking his lips. He rested his head on his hand and gazed at Leo with half closed eyes, what he would call a seductive face. However, though Aspen's hazel eyes were scrutinizing every inch of his darling boy's face, his mind was elsewhere, concentrating on the one thing he so dearly needed: money.

He supposed he could ask his work colleague , Tristan, about quick money making on the morrow. The man had the same salary he did but always seemed to have an abundance of cash. Aspen was quite sure that what the man did was shady, but in these times he had no where else to turn.

Leo blushed and stopped messing his lip once Aspen got onto him about it. With a small giggle he watched his boyfriend retreat to the kitchen, "Love you too." He called back before cleaning up his mess. With his papers stacked into his books he watched Aspen bring dinner out and some wine. Leo laughed softly before sitting across from his lover, "You know I'm not old enough to drink." He teased before taking a small bite of the chicken, "Well if were in Germany or Ireland I would be. I think as long as your nose reaches over the bar you can drink... I think. I dunno..." He rambled on running a hand through his chocolate brown hair. Leo picked up the wine glass and sniffed the wine. He had never really drinked anything before. Sure he tasted some, but that was off of Aspen's lips. He took a small sip before thinking about it for a moment, "Not too bad." Leo said softly before taking a bite of food. He watched Aspen and frowned a bit playing with his food, "Babe, you know I can always ask my parents to pay the rest of my college. You know they won't mind and also we'll have enough extra money to last us till I get out and get a job too." Leo explained hoping Aspen wouldn't get all... Prideful about it.

Aspen's expression immediately soured and he pursed his lips. While he respected Leo's wishes to support them, he just couldn't bring himself to borrow money from anyone, let alone his boyfriend's parents. Aspen and Leo's father didn't exactly get along well. Pleas for help on his part would be a certain deathwish, and it would wound him in spirit and pride to have Leo do the dirty work. So instead he shook his head and swirled the wine in his left hand.

"No, Leo," he refused flatly, taking a small sip of the alcohol. "I'm sorry, but that's something I'm just not going to do, even for you. And don't worry so much, I'm pulling money together. Hell, we'll be out of the rut soon." Aspen gave what he hoped was a reassuring smile and leaned forward in his seat. It was killing him to lie to Leo like that. Far from being out of the rut, the rent was due next week and Aspen didn't see how he was going to afford it on top of living comforts.

Trying not to let his anxieties reach his face, the man chuckled and finished his meager dinner. Standing up, he planted a kiss on Leonardo's forehand. "Get ready for sleep, will ya?" he murmured.

As he predicted he sighed and played with his food for a moment. His parents accepting Leo being gay and with Aspen, but for some odd reason Aspen and his dad butted heads. You guess you could Leo's dad was protective of him... Which was odd as Leo thought about it. With a small sigh he finished his dinner and took another small sip of wine. He didn't fancy tobacco products or anything like wine or beer like Aspen did. Leo just didn't prefer it. He looked up at Aspen as he stood and came over kissing his forehead. Closing his eyes and blushing he gave a small nod. His eyes looked back over to the couch where his homework was spread out. He would have to come back in here and finish.. After Aspen fell asleep of course. Leo didn't have school tomorrow, so he could pull an all nighter even if Aspen didn't like it, "Okay... But if the money situation gets any worse mum and dad are paying for my college... you're stressed out enough as it is babe." He said softly looking up at him. Leo did noticed that Aspen's normal cigarette usage had went up and he had more knots in his back when he gave him massages.

Aspen grinned resignedly. He loved this sweet kid so much it was unbearable. Leaning in closer till his face was mere inches from Leo's, he whispered softly in the other's ear: "Whatever happens, I promise I will be able to support you without help for the rest of your life. I promise." After giving the ear he was addressing a slight nibble, he tousled Leo's hair once more and retreated to the bedroom, yawning.

He barely changed into his sleeping clothes and brushed his teeth before collapsing onto the futon, sore muscles relaxing just slightly. Before long he drifted into a restless and dreamless sleep.

Leo let out a small squeak as Aspen nibbled on his ear. As he walked away Leo blushed brightly and rubbed his ear. Sometimes the man could tease the younger in so many mean ways. With a small sigh Leo got up and cleaned the table off before heading to their bed room. He changed into his night clothes and brushed his teeth as well. Walking over to the bed he leaned down to Aspen and stole a kiss before grabbing his sleeping bag and pillow. Leo headed back into the living room to pull an all nighter.

[Sure :] ]

When morning came Leo was sprawled out on the floor, in his sleeping bag, and with his work finished, but scattered. He slept soundly and peacefully. He knew Aspen might get mad, but he could careless at the moment. The small blond wanted to get his home work done.
