It appeals to me because Im that type of person that has to have a character that ''grows'' in potential along with the plot throughout the series.
Things like this never fail to keep me interested in an anime. At saying that, the next answer to your question..I expect ALOT from anime's...mainly because I've run into the type of anime's that just piss me off if you know what I mean. I don't like to waste lots of time on an anime that I wont finish so I expect for an anime to have; A creative plot (Though the cliche plots work sometimes @.@), Character that grows in strength, good art, and characters with unique abilites. Bad anime's for me usually consist of; Plain stupid side characters, Horriable art, Overused plots, annoying main characters and buttheaded 'fillers'.
Ah...But ofcourse thats what i expect from action anime...the other genre's will be a whooollleee nother' story o.o
