- If the monster limps, and it's a capture quest, don't attack it.

Everyone post one.

felvine bombs are great because they stop the annoying cats that attack you while your fighting a boss, and the cats will attack the boss instead. Just use it like a small barrel bomb.

Breaking parts of the monster will net more rewards in the end.

BIG FACT FOR GREATSWORD CLASSIC CONTROLLER USERS!!!

Might save you time and stress...

Some people find this game overly difficult, I've blown through it in approx. 4days (minus the days I've worked). Ceadeus is my next mark, but I do have some hints for Greatsword users, that use the Classic Controller, and this may or may not be relevent to other weapons.

First off, DONT USE CC SETTING 1. It's stupid, nintendo did a really crappy job re-creating the PSP controls. Your classic controller (be it original or pro) has height difference buttons. Mainly refering to your A and B or Triangle and Circle. Pressing them together and trying to do an Alternate attack might make you do a single A or B move instead.

Go with CC Setting 2. Using the right analog betters your performance, and as an experienced hunter in every single MH game that has come out, sticking with PS2 controls are the way to go. Firstly down on your analog is a charge attack, up is a down swing, and well you can guess the left and right, cause they're irrelevant.

THIS IS THE IMPORTANT FACT.
Now when you do a downswing or "charge attack," tapping it again will do a paddle swing, yes? And you'll move into another charge which is ends your combo.. kinda sucks right? especially if the monster is in a hole or stunned. Thing again, instead of using "New Charge" hit that damn analog stick down once again. You'll be in "Old Charge" if I'm not mistaken. Which means you can stay in one position and mass Charge attacking, example, the head of the beast. It saves time "rolling" and your damage output is higher.

Bring/use herbs.

I know it sounds simple, but really, they're cheap and they heal.

I always bring 10.
And I always buy them in bulk when they're on sale.

Dung bombs have another useful purpose. Always cursing on how that Ian, Los, and Gigi got you pinned, sapping away your heath? Don't pull out your hair when you can throw a piece of dung at their face and take them off you instantly.

Learn a creature's weakness.

Whether it's a certain location to hit, when to hit, or an elemental weakness.

All these things are vital and should always be taken advantage of.

Don't know the weakness?
Check the wiki or if can make their armor, check that.
Whatever weakness the armor has, they share it.

This includes elemental and statuses.

So, using stones you can upgrade the defense level of your armor.
We all know that.

Now, once you reach a certain level, you need high rank equipment and it'll change your armor to high rank armor and retain it's skills.

I just wanted to let everyone know that High rank has two sets of armor.

The upgraded armor with all the previous skill or new armor with different skills.

I wasn't aware of this until recently and I'd thought I'd let everyone know.

Switch axe combos.

Seriously, there's nothing worse that seeing someone attacking with one, only to stop because they don't know what to press next.

Also, learn the transition attacks, too so you can switch to sword form in the middle of a combo.

That 3 faints equals failed mission. If your thinking that a failure is inevitable try to complete mission via subquest before just up and abandoning the mission. Subquest victory will still usually get you some reward.

Hit it till it dies and don't get hit.

No but in all seriousness, learn how to dodge. And don't use a potion in front of the dragon..please run away and use it when it's not looking straight at you.
