BIG FACT FOR GREATSWORD CLASSIC CONTROLLER USERS!!!
Might save you time and stress...
Some people find this game overly difficult, I've blown through it in approx. 4days (minus the days I've worked). Ceadeus is my next mark, but I do have some hints for Greatsword users, that use the Classic Controller, and this may or may not be relevent to other weapons.
First off, DONT USE CC SETTING 1. It's stupid, nintendo did a really crappy job re-creating the PSP controls. Your classic controller (be it original or pro) has height difference buttons. Mainly refering to your A and B or Triangle and Circle. Pressing them together and trying to do an Alternate attack might make you do a single A or B move instead.
Go with CC Setting 2. Using the right analog betters your performance, and as an experienced hunter in every single MH game that has come out, sticking with PS2 controls are the way to go. Firstly down on your analog is a charge attack, up is a down swing, and well you can guess the left and right, cause they're irrelevant.
THIS IS THE IMPORTANT FACT.Now when you do a downswing or "charge attack," tapping it again will do a paddle swing, yes? And you'll move into another charge which is ends your combo.. kinda sucks right? especially if the monster is in a hole or stunned. Thing again, instead of using "New Charge" hit that damn analog stick down once again. You'll be in "Old Charge" if I'm not mistaken. Which means you can stay in one position and mass Charge attacking, example, the head of the beast. It saves time "rolling" and your damage output is higher.
