Close friends to a shaman, Richard had an interesting life. He became friends with Jeremy in Kindergarten and although he became much more talkative and popular than his commerad he still made sure no one truly disliked his quiet, tall companion. Eventually his friend told him that he was a shaman, and that changed his fate... He almost instantly was able to see ghost, and almost instantly became disliked by Sara. Richard's happy-go-lucky, jking nature also held quite a bit of intelligence though, after learning that his friend was a spiritual warrior-thing he sort of turned him into a "bodyguard." If his height and natural creepiness of one who dabbels with ghosts wasn't enough, Jeremy's (forced) training had him grow some muscle, and scars.
Soon after Jeremy was told he would be sent to advanced shaman training and would most likely leave Richard treated his friend to a blind date, with his girlfriends sister. After the (rather awkward) night was over and the girls went home the two were kidnapped by the Mariners and tortured. The torture nearly killed him, but his spirit remained in tact. He nearly died, and grew furyoku because of it. A wandering earth spirit found the ravaged Richard being tortured and they integrated. The spirit in his body killed every Mariner there and then when Rich regained control he looked for Jeremy.
He found Jeremy with a sort of zen stare at the wal. He was similarly tortured except there was a sword sticking out of his chest. When Jeremy noticed his friend he instantly apologized but Richard responded by saying, "Pssh... It wasn't your fault, they only kidnapped you because you were close to the greatest man thatever ***king lived. I'm sorry."
He later trained with his friend, to become a master shaman, and right any wrong done by the Mariners. His ally Roca ddoesn't speak, but Jeremy and Rich seem to understand it, even if no one else does.
