Hey guys. I need recommendations for some good French films. I've already seen Amelie (which I didn't care for) and Persepolis (which I loved, but I didn't watch it in French). Give a small description of the film as well, please. I like comedies, dramas, and character-driven plots. I don't like action movies or romance unless the action or romance is just a sub-plot.

So recommend away, I'd like to hear what you guys come up with whee

I really loved Les Choristes. It's a little bit corny but it's so beautiful.

There's "Molière."

It's like a comedy-drama, sort of Shakespeare style, but in French.

Melikes it. ^^

On peut le voir sur YouTube. ninja

Oh, and the production value and acting are both win.

I've seen Chocolat, it was pretty cute. biggrin

I didn't care for Amelie, unfortunately. It was one of those movies I felt like I SHOULD like, because I usually like quirky artsy films, but it just was a little too slow for me. I usually like films like that though, so I'll check 'em out.

In any case, thank you.

Search for « Jeux d'Enfants » The English title is "Love Me If You Dare". The world famous French actrice Marion Cotillard is in this movie about two little kids who build a friendship around a little tin carousel. Each time either of them holds this tin, the other has to complete a dare after the words « cap ou pas cap » are said. It's aaaaaaaaaamazing, and follows them from childhood to adulthood.

I recommend Les Choristes (The Chorus)! I watched in my choir class back in high school during my sophomore year, and it was the most beautiful thing I've ever watched. Plus, one of the boys in that movie has such a beautiful tenor singing voice. D:
