Does anyone else here spin their yarn? I recently received a kit for spinning cotton from cottonclouds and I love my tahkli! I actually also ordered some bamboo roving that is gorgeous, and I couldn't help finishing that up first. Blue!

I have a schact (sp?) top bottom whorl and a Louet. I've only spun alpaca and wool, but really want to try spinning cotton on a tahkli spindle. Spinning is so much fun. heart

I agree. I have reached the point of fanaticism. I am planting cotton this year, and I have been known to take my spinning to campus with me. rofl

The only reason I don't have my own sheep or goat is I can't have one where I live. *sadness* But cotton I can hella plant, I want to do that too once I learn how to spin with it. heart

You can, though I think it's a bit pricey.

Meh. If you can grow your own fiber source than perhaps not so much. Time-consuming...definitely. Pricey only in getting the tools, and there are ways even around that. I have no wish for a spinning wheel, I adore my spindles. the only wheel I want is a charkha, and there are ways to construct that at home. I do have to say, the charkha is the cheapest wheel I have ever seen.

My mom just sent me a link to how to make your own drop spindle today. I'll put the link up in the morning if anybody would like it!

Yeah. It is pretty easy to make your own spindle. And I am pretty sure you could spin buffalo hair. That would not be the weirdest thing I have heard of people spinning.
