I was going through old rps the other day when I discovered a few that really pissed me off. I finished them and whatnot, but looking back I wonder how I ever did at all. Most of them just made me mad at how badly they were produced or how much I didn't like the other person's writing. Call me the Rp Grinch, but it's true.So. Topic for Discussion: What bothers you in an rp? What really grinds your gears and makes you wanna punch the co-rp pal? Is it bad grammar? Is it the short posts? How about their writing style? I'm not giving you free space to bash on other rping peoples who just want to have fun, but I am curious about what peeves you writers have when conducting a roleplay. Discuss and be nice.T.T.

To tell the truth my Rping style has change a lot since the last time I posted here in the Guild. I can generally post about four to five paragraphs now, and put more detail into things. I generally get annoyed with people who constantly don't put effort into their work. One liners piss me off like no other and I generally hate people who create a character specific to god modding, But -smirks- I know how to turn that around XD -laughs- Now the rps that generally have mass amounts of information and generally has times where things progress quickly. I can work with, Using interaction with the rper through pms or IM helps greatly to work out what will take place. I am how ever annoyed with the fact I can't find rps that are worth the time to post. Good rps die quickly and those that are un dedicated ruin it....I have been a part of great rps that had a lot of potential that people just dropped because they supposedly forgot about it or said it moved to fast when the thing was moving slow the whole time....-sighs- Other than that O3o nothing else really bothers me....just wish there were people to rp with that I can have a fun time rping with.

I've grown more accustomed to the long sentencey kind of rp known as literate. I use to do the very childish style of using a person's name, asteriks surrounding actions and all that other bad stuff. So now I'm a little annoyed with my friends who rp like that. It disgusts me because he's my age and he's stil rping like that, I don't rp with them but still. Also what comfuses me is when lesbians do yaoi rps. or like yaoi but that's a different topic. I also don't like it when my ideas don't play out the way I want them to, but they usually do so I guess I'm fortunate but sometimes there's just some kind of action they do and I have to adapt which I guess is the point of role playing. Still... Then there's sometimes points where I don't undrestand what's going on... And then there's stuff like spelling that irks me and there's grammar or sentence structure... And when thoughts just ramble on like this entire post. That's just a bunch of extra crap that's uneccessary... so yeah, I don't like it when I ramble. It's good for topics like these.
EDIT: Oh, and when I cannot understand who's talking or what actions are whose.

When it comes to role-play, grammar can be a real turn off for me. I really hate it when people use run-on sentences and think that everything goes into the one.
It also irks me when the usage of "I" is used wrong. Whenever referring to yourself, always capitalize the I.
Spelling can be an issue, especially when the word "the" is typed wrong. Whenever I see the word "the" typed like "teh", I think...either this person is way too hyper or needs to go back to school and learn how to spell properly.
I didn't think that 13 year olds were still in grade 2. Grade 2 is when you learn how to spell if not earlier. So unless we have a bunch of people needing diapers, then...people have really got to start using what they learn in school when it comes to spelling.
Another area where spelling can bother someone is when someone types in a specific race, such as a saiyan, as in the Dragon Ball Z race, but people still spell it wrong though they see it spelled properly in a roleplay.
If someone is typing teh over and over, then we know there is a problem, for instance.
There are some cases when spelling wrong can actually help create humor in a roleplay based on their actual definition.
Wen and when are good examples.
Wen is a cyst on one's body aka a zit can be considered as a minor wen condition.
When is referring to a time.
So, when spelling the word "when" wrong can create some laughs. I suppose this is another good reason to be careful when typing because you don't want to be laughed at because you didn't spell check first.
Other than that...nothing else really bothers me when it comes to role-plays.
Oh, there is one other thing that does bug me. Its when people do not read the entire first post or read everything before making their post. Because of this issue, there have been many questions that didn't need to be asked, and from guild captain experience, some people have even left one of my guilds because they did not read everything.

Because of this issue, there have been many questions that didn't need to be asked, and from guild captain experience, some people have even left one of my guilds because they did not read everything. Oh, a grammar nazi like myself! I completely agree. Misspellings are entirely frustrating and you'd think now that most internet servers spell check your writing anyway that they'd be able to notice when they've made an error. Of course, there are a few that can be overlooked, such as errors that are real words, but like you said, a majority of the time when these mistakes are being made it's because the person hasn't read over their post before actually putting it out. In lieu of the last paragraph, I was also starting to think about how not only does it bother me when do they not read the original post, but when they skim paragraphs within the rp. I am rather meticulous when adding certain details into writing and I know that when you start writing with more expert roleplayers, it's a very common thing to come across. Therein, I found more and more people who just seemed to be skimming the writing and not only missing out on details, but moments of action entirely! Example being a character that walks out of a room and it is disregarded by the other roleplayer in the next post. Very frustrating and very good points! I agree!
