Yuki felt like he was melting beneath the spring sun. He much preferred the winter, and the snow. Smiling at the memory of rolling around in the snow when he was just a young gem, Yuki slowly stood on his perch in a shaded tree and hopped off, spreading his wings when he was clear of branches and gliding to the ground. It was too hot even to fly so he slowly made his way through the sparse trees toward the water source he could smell from here. As he got closer, he heard a waterfall. Perfect. He hoped the water was nice and cool.

It was truth that Yuki had heard a waterfall, but he missed the sounds of light splashes through it. A young gem was already there, bathing under the shower of water, cooling her from the summer heat that made her purple pink coat glisten with sweat. She was the same as Yuki, preferring winter greatly over summer, having fond memories of her childhood ladden with snow.
Xue smiled lightly as the cool waters slid down her back and through the feathers of her wings. If only she had company, then this would truly be great. She had found a cold santurary under the summer sun.

A few minutes later and Yuki found the waterfall. In the pool of water below it, he saw another gem playing in the water there. Upon closer inspection, he could see it was someone familiar. "Xue?" he asked as he stood at the water's edge. It had to be her, no one else looked that much like him. Smiling, he slid into the water, letting out a relieved sigh as the cool water made him feel so much better.

Xue's head turned quickly as she heard her name, and an oh so familiar voice drowned out the roaring waters passing her ears. Yes, this was what she had been wishing for, for a long while. Company. And yet.. not just company.
"Yuki!" Xue exclaimed, her bright eyes shining as she took a flying leap at him, managed to somehow fall into the water because her foot got caught on a vine, and sending a tidal wave at Yuki. Xue's head spun as she tried to regain herself, the vine already snapping from the leap, and fall, as she swam back up to surface, laughing as she broke for air.

Yuki laughed as Xue tripped in the water, but his laughter was cut short as the wave washed over him. He was in midlaugh as the wave caught him and he choked on the water. Shaking his head, he cleared his head from it and smiled at Xue as she broke the surface. "Hey, long time no see," he said softly, warmly. Slipped all the way into the water, he swam closer to her and nuzzled her for a moment before sitting back. "How have you been?"

Xue's crisp laugh continued breaking the air as smaller waves from her fall jostled her around. With her wings now completely soaked and sogging, she could no longer fly without shaking some water out. That was put aside though, as it was obvious Xue didn't give any notion to flying when in water. The water was her friend, and she quickly swam over to Yuki as he did her, laughing still, her coat glowing with the shine from the tides.
"Yuki! It's been so long! Where have you been?" She chirped, nuzzling him as he did her, sitting beside him as the water receded from her mane. "I've been great! Well, except for the heat. Both of never liked the heat! I found this cool pool a long time ago! I was going to search for you so I could show it to you but I couldn't find you!" She babbled, pouting at the reminders of her unsucessful attempts at finding her look-a-like. "But you found me!" She squeaked, nuzzling him again, bright and happy to have company.
