Sky-Ship Endeavor
Steampunk Pirate Roleplay
Story
Dreams, desires and aspirations.
Every one has them, few ever realize them. Allow me to introduce you to a rag-tag crew who have set their just a little too high.
The ship is called Endeavor and lead by an experience pirate, amateur Captain by the name of Valentine Wakefield. The crew is a royal load of misfits from all walks of life, but they show promise and have heart. But will that be enough to reach their goals?
What are they aiming for, you may ask?
Well, legend tells of an ancient sky-ship vastly superior to anything in even the modern world. Not only that, but there is supposedly the treasure of a thousand cities laying idly in the stomach of a booby-trapped and possibly haunted cave.
It won't be easy, however. The only existing map has been torn into five pieces and shared among very powerful and highly influential men and woman abroad.
The most ruthless and feared pirate, Captain James Burke. A pirate so reach he sinks ships and bombards villages to smithereens without even bothering to pillage before or after.
A Lady Esmeralda, a woman of impeccable beauty and the sharpest of tongues. She weaves stories and manipulates those around her to meet her ends. She resides on a highly defended island-state with a demoralizing military presence and a very strict "No Pirates" rule.
The corrupt Bishop Reynolds, a holy man who does the devils deeds. Easy bought if the price is right and to those of his faith believe his every word to be right and true.
Admiral William Winsten, renowned and respected sailor who "always gets the job done". However, the means he employs to do such would very much sully his reputation, so he does not often leave any ends loose. He sails a powerful ship, nearly of the same quality of Captain Burke's and is always in the company of three smaller navy ships.
The final map holder is, rather, was a man by the name of Alberto Vinisinni. At one point he was a navy man of comparable reputation to that of Admiral Winsten, however, he has since taken a dive down a slippery sloop. His love for alcohol outmatched his love for the sea and he eventually settled down in a small out-of-the-way island town and became a permanent resident of the local Inn. That is where he eventually encounter a Captain Wakefield who had conveniently overheard the intoxicated man blab on and on about a "treasure map". The Captain later followed the man to his room and "convinced" him to hand over the map. The Captain later returned to his ship with the first piece of the map clenched tightly in his raw knuckles and so began their journey to enter the history books.
How'd they do? Well, that is yet to be seen. . .
Setting
This roleplay takes place in a world unlike our own. For one, it is steampunk, which means every mechanical item is steam-powered and thus ten times as cool.
The world is a very strange and for some very unaccessable place. There are, of course, oceans and continents, but there are also floating land masses, one of which large enough to claim continent status. Islands dot the skies and oceans and are usually under the command of one of three different and powerful military forces. Aventians in red, the Hench in Blue and the Maniards in black.
The weapons of this world are like that of the 1800's. Beautiful, intricately designed muzzle-loaded firearms good for one shot before a reload in necessary. Crossbows, while not as powerful are fast and still quiet popular. Many people of this world also use swords, namely the pirates and navies.
The creatures of this world are also quite strange. Some creatures that appear to be marine animals are in fact capable of flight. They range in size from tiny guppy-like creatures to massive sky-whales who travel as family units. The oil produced from their blubbed in invaluable to the very industrialized world.
The world is called Yora and in all honesty is still in development. If you would like to add or question something, feel free to ask and I will update it.
