Left 4 Dead 2 fans have been hankering for The Passing DLC for quite a while now. First announced for a spring release, then delayed, we can happily report that the content is finally upon us and available for download now - queue it up here.

The Passing DLC will bring the old characters from Left 4 Dead 1 and throw them together with the characters from Left 4 Dead 2. Rumour has it, someone's not getting out alive! Fresh with new weapons, new uncommon infected, new game modes, The Passing is available for 560 Microsoft points from today.

Wait! That's not all! Although you already know the achievements, you now know how much they're worth, as we just updated our list with all the new achievements this morning.

Just think of all the zombie blood that's going to be spilt today... just brings a smile to your face, huh?

TORCH BEARER - 20
Survive The Passing Campaign.

WEDDING CRASHER - 30
As the Charger, grab a Survivor and crash them through 8 chairs at the wedding.

TIL IT GOES CLICK - 20
Using the M60, kill 25 infected without letting go of the trigger.

GRAVE ROBBER - 25
Collect 10 items dropped by a Fallen Survivor.

MUTANT OVERLORD - 30
Play 6 Mutations.

FORE! - 25
Knock off the heads of 18 infected with the golf club.

KILLING 'EM SWIFTLY TO THIS SONG - 20
Play the new Midnight Riders song on a jukebox.

KITE LIKE A MAN - 30
Kill a Tank only with damage from the original Survivors.

CACHE GRAB - 20
Open 5 foot lockers.

PORT OF SCAVENGE - 30
Play 5 full games of Scavenge on The Port

Left 4 Dead 2's The Passing DLC has dropped on Xbox Live today, reuniting the old Left 4 Dead favourites Bill, Francis, Zoe and Louis for a new campaign - and apparently, one of them won't make it to the end.

But that's not all. The Passing DLC, now on Xbox Live Marketplace for 560 Microsoft Points will also introduce weekly events every Thursday called Mutations.

The first Mutation will be 'Realism Versus', available through the Versus option on the main menu. Valve's tip? Look out for the Jockey and have a working microphone "so your teammates can hear your screams for help."

On the Left 4 Dead Blog, Valve also detail one of the other Mutations to follow - 'Chainsaw Massacre.' This will be a campaign Mutation that will give you a chainsaw with unlimited gas, thousands of zombies and...nothing else. Let the limbs and heads fly!

Brace yourself for more blood and screeching zombies in one place than you thought humanly possible. It's gonna be intense.

Just got it with some birthday money, now me and my friends are gonna get ourselves a zombie-themed Birthday. We're renting out 'Zombieland,' then we're playing co-op in 'The Passing'. Yayz!

By the way, you can give pills or adrenaline to any of the three original survivors when they are close enough (like when you see them in the third level for the first time).

Those pesky code monkeys have been at it again, this time pilfering through the Left 4 Dead 2 Steam code of this week's The Passing downloadable content.

The Mutation mode, which is a weekly changing DLC game mode, is currently playing the Realism Versus game type and is set to feature the already confirmed Chainsaw Massacre in the coming weeks, but a Steam forum goer by the name of Thegreenthing16 has uncovered a load more of names and details of possible upcoming Mutation game types.

The list and details from the Steam forums are as follows:

Chainsaws
First Man Out
Four Swords Men
Hardcore
Head Shots Only
Last Man One Earth
Linear Scavenge
M60s
Max Specials
Mutations 1
Mutations 2
Mutations 3
Mutations 4
Mutations 5
Mutations 6
Mutations 7
Mutations 8
Mutations 9
No Health Versus
Realism Versus
Temporary Health
Ultra Realism
Versus Survival
Vip Target

Guard the Gnome: Mutation9
-Coop
-Gnome spawns at the beginning, you need to to make it through the levels.
-Zombies go after the person carrying the gnome.

Bleeding Out: Mutation3
-Coop
-No Medkits, only pills.
-You start with temporary health that goes down fast.
-Lots of pills.
-Lots of random panic events.

The Mutation mode is easily one of The Passing's selling points and we hope that these turn out to be legitimate variations that Valve puts into practice in the coming months. Especially Guard the Gnome. Yes, I have a gnome obsession.
