Akane took a deep breath and entered her classroom. Even though no one was in there yet, she felt as if a hundred eyes were watching her. For Akane, a new job always made her nervous. She was always afraid she would make some mistake that would scar her reputation at the school forever, as she was now. Since she was deep in thought, Akane completely forgot to look where she was walking, and wasted no time in tangling her foot in an electrical cord. Yelping in surprise, she fell, her papers and books scattering everywhere. She quickly recovered, gathering her things and plopping them on her desk. She fixed her glasses, sighed, and turned to the board. Now what would be a good assignment for the students? she thought, tapping her finger on her chin. Akane's brown eyes lit up as an idea came to mind, and she hastily wrote it down on the board.
"Today's Assignment: Write a paper on your culture. If you don't know much about your culture, write about things that your family do that are special. Turn in the paper on my desk when finished."
Akane stepped back and read over the assignment again, making sure the students would be able to understand it. She nodded, satisfied at her idea, and quickly wrote her name in the corner. "Mrs. Shouga/Mrs. S" After this was done, she placed her writing instrument on the podium that was placed at the front of the room and grabbed her book. After settling into an office chair behind her desk, she opened the book, paying close attention to the lines of The Call of the Wild.
