Well, this story starts a week ago. Or maybe it starts years ago, back before I was heavily in manga.

Anyway, the one that started a week ago. I was up all night waiting to submit my class schedule for next year (worst... system... EVER. = A =; wink . We were finally done waiting outside in the cold and were now lining up inside. I started reading my ImagineFX magazine (Digital Fantasy art; look it up it's great) and decided then and there "... I want to have some sort of fantasy project to work on on my free time." So I grabbed my sketchbook and drew up a couple quick names (manga rough draft pages); one of a girl waking up in a cave with a boy standing watch over her, and another that was set like a two page spread showing what would become "an epic and vast fantasy realm." I came up with a few more things in that line; that the girl was an orphan, had been raised on the streets as a thief, and then was going to be burned as a demon before getting rescued by the boy. Later I came up with a basic character design. I decided the boy was a Pheonix and the girl... I couldn't decide.

I later despaired, because I was sleep deprived and learned that any sort of plot I could connect to these characters and this world was TERRIBLY cliched and that the heroine was in most of these plots a Mary Sue.

So... just today I had an idea. I have another story that was a lot more vague, AGES old now, about an elf whose arm is that of a demon's and he was slowly being turned into one. It was his choice to gain this power, but it was a choice made in rage and vengeance and he's regretted it ever since. At this point he'd given up hope.

I replaced my Pheonix protagonist with him, and made the girl a kind of 'energy vampire' - i.e. she can keep him from turning into a demon. Not that either of them realize it for the longest time. Anyway, she's about to be burned, he saves her and takes her into his world where he thinks she belongs (he knows she possesses some power but thinks it's something stupid and commonplace), and made the world less primeval and more Victorian, with vast cities placed in between the sprawling forests in my original world. He takes her there, tells her she's on her own, and she chases after him because she has NO idea what to do. He does his best to ditch her before he becomes a demon and consumes everything around him.

Anyways... if you can follow that, I'd like to hear your guy's opinion.
