[[ As a note, Waarufu just had her wisdom teeth out on Wednesday, and isn't on Gaia as much as she would like because of that and catching up on school work she should have done at the beginning of winter break. ^.^; So please note that she may be slower than usual in replying because she sucks. XP And you'll also have to forgive her as it is her first time RPing a hyena, though not her first time with canines. ^.^; I'll update the posting list as/if more people join]] Posting Order and Hyenas (because I need to keep track, lol) Waarufu - Diallo Glitterati - Zhenga Feanaro - Raeros Polecat Junkie - Kain
Diallo looked out across the expanse of scrubby bushes, or at least as far as his small height would allow from his perch on an overturned tree. For such a young pup, it was strange for him to be out all alone. That is until one took into consideration that he was a male pup, and had most likely been chased off by older, stronger female littermates. Regardless of his situation, the black and silver pup put his best paw forward - which wasn't quite good enough to keep him from tumbling head-over-heels off of 'his' log. Scrambling to his feet, his ears pricked, he looked around quickly in hopes no one had seen that before giving a small snort and trotting off towards the north.

(( =D *pops in* ))
Raeros chewed on the dried leftovers of an abandoned carcass. It wasn't much, but it was something. He knawed thoughtfully at a bone as his amber eyes shifted from left to right over the area. Finally deciding that he'd scraped enough food off of the dead animal, Rae turned towards the dry, barren savannah and prepared to continue his wandering. Wait. Barren? Rae blinked at a silhouette moving in the distance. Prey perhaps? His last excuse for a meal had done little to ease his hunger. With a twitch of his nose, Raeros bounded off in the direction of the moving figure.

Times had been lean for Kain's clan, and he was off in search of something tasty. They had enough food to get by, but Kain had a craving for something good, and the recent rains might mean large congregations of herd animals. If he was lucky, he could snag a calf or foal and bring it back to the rest of the clan. His queen, he thought, would be very pleased.
With the other adults staying back to guard the cubs, Kain was free to roam -- and roam he did. He had been gone for a few days now. Though he wasn't an expert on this area, he had been through it before and was confident that he could get back to the Imara territory with whatever he found before it spoiled.
On the lookout for herds (and hostile clans), Kain didn't pay much heed to the small creatures in the distance. Too small to be the kind of food he was looking for, and too small to be a threat.

Diallo pricked up his small ears, nose twitching at the scent of something else nearby. It took him a few minutes to match the direction of the smell with his eyes, and he waved his stubby tail a moment in expectation. It smelt like another hyena, and it moved like another hyena and it was just his size too.
With a tiny yip, he barreled after the other form, large puppy paws striking the harsh ground in rapid succession. Contrary to the stumbling pup from earlier, he managed to keep his limbs in the right order without tripping up, paying no attention to the larger hyena form in the distance as he approached the other pup with a playful greeting.

The yips caught Kain's attention instantly. Kain froze, his ears pricked towards the source of the sound. He knew those sounds well -- cubs! Though many other adult hyenas had little patience for cubs, Kain loved them. But what were these cubs doing out here, all alone? Wagging his tail thoughtfully, Kain lifted his head to scent the air. Still no trace of adult hyenas. There was no clan living within days of this place... so where had the cubs come from?
Kain stepped forward, towards the cubs. They weren't his cubs, certainly, he would have recognized their yips anywhere, so he had no real obligation to help them. They might even be carrying sickness. But Kain couldn't leave cubs out here all alone without even stopping to investigate.

Raeros froze as the figure suddenly emitted a yip and came bounding right at him. Prey that attacked the hunter? That wasn't quite right. He abandoned his thought of food and focused on seeing what this new creature was.
As the figure neared, Rae saw that it was another cub. Well, no harm there, hopefully. He trotted forward in what he thought was a friendly gesture, hoping the other 'yena wasn't looking for trouble. But as Rae sniffed at the approaching cub, his nose picked up another scent. He stopped and turned his head towards where he believed the scent was coming from.

Diallo tipped his head back and gave a stronger yipping howl as Raeros approached him. His small tail was waving behind him strongly, and he bounded the last few paces towards the other.
"Hello!" He blerted out, pawing the ground playfully until he noticed the other seemed suddenly preoccupied. He looked around, tilting his own small nose into the air to try and figure out what the other was sniffing. Almost immediately, the adult hyena scent wafted into his nose. He sneezed, tail still waving boldly. Adults meant food!

The two cubs had obviously spotted him. Kain continued to trot easily towards them, not wanting to frighten them off before he had figured out what they were up to. They didn't seem frightened to see him -- in fact, the grey one looked almost delighted. Hmm. The cubs obviously hadn't had any negative experiences with adults before... lucky for them, as Kain had wandered during his own youth and had met some nasty hyenas.
"Hey, cubs!" He barked, wagging his tail slightly as he trotted towards them.

Raeros tilted his head curiously at the approaching adult. He'd never really encountered them before, and whenever he spotted any he made sure to steer clear. This one seemed alright to him. Rae took a few steps towards the adult hyena. "Hello...", he said hesitantly. He looked from the gray cub to the brownish 'yena. 3 paths suddenly clashing at the same time. This was unusual.

He gave a yip to the approaching male hyena, tail waving behind him sporadically. When Kain gave his welcome bark, Diallo trotted over towards him with no fear or sense of danger. Afterall, this was another male and another hyena, right? He balanced on his hind paws, front paws batting at the other's side playfully with a small, welcoming whine passing lips. He pranced away from the other, spinning in a tight circle before bounding back and yipping.
"Hello!"
It seemed he had all but forgotten the other pup's presence, or the way that Raeros was hesitant to approach the adult. Instead, all he seemed to see was that an adult meant food and play.

Kain was surprised but pleased by the grey cub's enthusiasm. "Hello, little one," he said, bending his head to sniff the grey one in greeting. He looked up at the other cub, the wary one. "And hello to you." Kain kept his tone easy, not wanting to frighten the brown cub away. It was good for lone cubs to be cautious around strange adults, but Kain didn't want to frighten them.
The squire yipped a hyena-laugh at the grey one's antics. Cubs always amused him. "What are you doing alone?" he asked, kindly, sitting back on his haunches and assuming a less threatening stance.

Rae blinked at the adult hyena. Well he seemed nice enough. With a wag of his tail, Rae trotted over to where the 'yena sat, and took a seat next to him. "Hm, wandering. Oh, I'm Rae. Raeros." His tail wagged occasionally as he looked at the older one. In the company of a friendly adult would mean a better chance at food and safety.

His tail waved over his head as he yipped again, padding over to sit in front of the adult like the other pup had done. Though he was obviously a little less controlled as his rump twitched with every wag of his tail. He dipped his muzzle to the ground, swiping at it with his paw before looking back up at the adult before responding.
"Alone?" He turned his head to the side. "But you're here, and so is Raeros." He stumbled over the other pup's name a bit, clacking his jaws together in the process. Okay... so maybe he wasn't the brightest crayon in the box. Okay, maybe he was closer to a dull dull grey.

Kain dipped his head towards the brown cub in greeting. "Hello, Rae. I'm Kain." He turned towards the grey cub, bemused. The cub didn't seem too swift, but he made up for it with his enthusiasm. "What's your name?"
He sighed as he studied the two cubs. They were both healthy; either they had only lost their parents recently or they had been doing alright alone. Still, he hated to see young ones all alone and defenseless. Anything could happen. "Wandering alone is dangerous for cubs like you," he said, trying to keep the sternness from his voice. After all, they couldn't help it.

Rae frowned as he looked up at Kain. "What else am I supposed to do? There's no family'r anything that I have... I'm just wandering around trying to make a living on my own. It's ok so far..." He stopped talking and glanced at the other cub. The gray one's inability to stay still seemed to annoy Rae a bit, but he stayed silent and tried to ignore the distraction. "Er... why are you out here?" he asked Kain. "Are you clanless like us?"
