Jumong starring Song Il Kuk, Han Hye Jin, and Oh Yun Soo

The highest-rated drama of 2006, Jumong is a complex, high-budget epic which sparked a wave of Korean dramas dealing with the time period it covered (Korea's Goguryeo Dynasty). From the writers of All In and Damo comes the tale of a hero who is born into a troubled and fragmented country and rises to become a prince who will unite the land. Starring lauded actors Song Il Gook (Lobbyist, The Kingdom of the Wind) and Han Hye-Jin (Be Strong Geum-Soon!), it is one of Korea's most popular and well-made historical dramas, and pulled in ratings of over 40% upon its broadcast in 2006.

In 37 BC, a boy named Jumong is born in the small independent state of Buyeo, at a time when the Korean peninsual is torn by the conflict between ancient kingdom Gojoseon and Han Chinese forces. The son of a rebel leader, he is taken in by by King Geum Wa and raised as his son. Coming of age in these chaotic circumstances, he soon finds himself an unlikely prince and forced to compete with his brother and rival Dae So(Kim Seung Soo) for the title of Crown Prince. On his way to fulfilling his destiny to become the first king and founder of Goguryeo, Jumong will have to choose between the love of two very different women, the wise, beautiful So Seo No (Han Hye Jin) and the innocent, charming servant girl Bu Yeong (Im So Young). Based on actual tales of Goguryeo's founder found in ancient Korean transcripts, this drama brings the legendary figure Jumong to life in rich, riveting detail.

Yeah, I was really upset about that. Of course, I could understand that she thought he was dead and all, but is that really ALL the confidence she had in him? Course, Daeso had to go be an idiotic jerk, chasing after her to the point where he was threatening her to marry him. So, yeah, I guess she had no choice BUT to marry Wootae. And plus, Wootae is a nice guy. And he already liked her. At least he got some happiness, right? But if you want to blame anyone for it, then blame Daeso.

Yeah, it is upsetting. So how far into it are you, so I don't spoil anything?

I finished this a couple days ago, i'd say this is right below Iljimae in my list, of course thats because these are the only Korean dramas i have seen, XP
I feel so sad for Soshono and Ye soya, and how much pain they must of endured. Can you imagine, Ye soya came just at the moment Jumong and Soshono got married!, *sigh* so sad, so sad...
Also can you imagine how Soshono felt when Piryu tried to kill Yuri and Jumong? i'm also wondering, how and why did Jumong die at age 40, i mean isn't that a young age to die? was it because some battle wounds? natural death? or maybe because of that infection they showed in the last few episodes?

I think the ending from this movie was short, but at least it was not as bad a Iljimae. The most confusing part for me, was when they made you think Yuri died, a part of me said "Nah, they cant kill him of now" and another "But it looks pretty convincing..."
Anyways i was happy when i found out he lived.

This is a VERY long drama, if you have a lot of time watch it!

Jumong died from a chronic illness, I think. I think that's what the history books said. I'm just lgad they didn't show his death in the ending. I don't remember the part where Yuri supposedly died... =/ I liked Yuri enough in here, but after watching part of Kingdom of the Wind, he seemed like a stupid idiot. Ugh. I'm biased, since I started watching KotW before Yuri showed up in Jumong.
