This is a reading homework for my Gender Roles class

This paragraph in particular struck a nerve in me. None of this would have happened if the doctor's used a topical steroid cream (rather simmilar to what i use my adult exema)

Shortly before the births, Frank had landed his highest-paying job ever, at a local unionized plant, and the couple now moved with their newborns into a sunny one-bedroom apartment on a quiet side street downtown. But when the twins were 7 months old, Linda noticed that their foreskins were closing, making it hard for them to urinate. Their pediatrician explained that the condition, called phimosis, was not rare and was easily remedied by circumcision. He referred them to a surgeon. The operations were scheduled for April 27, 1966, in the morning. Because Frank needed the family car to get to his job on the late shift, they brought the kids in the night before. “We weren’t worried,” Linda says. “We didn’t know we had anything to worry about.”

I dunno. The person takes on John/Joan names. Basically, due to a REALLY botched circ, John's baby p***s was burnt off. Then he was assigned a new gender by this doctor, female, and they did the whole process, chemical and socializing to female. He didn't want to be female. Joan at this time walked like man, wanted "man" things ect.
At age 18 Joan became John again, had a new p***s erected. He is now married.

*sigh* these things are always so sad =/
circumcision nearly destroyed this poor mans life.
For some reason im not really surprised a 2000+ year old operation can do so much damage.

I also feel bad for all the intersex people =/ they were born fine, different, but fine and then doctors end up screwing it up. If its fine and not causeing any damage or harm to the baby then just leave it alone damn it.
