. : : Disney vs DreamWorks

There have been many times when Disney/Pixar and DreamWorks both made movies with similar settings or plotline, and it can be hard to decide which is better.

And thus, I say we discuss a few of these movies to determine the better movie once and for all! Just because we're a Disney guild, doesn't mean we can't like other things as well, right?

So every now and again, two new similar movies will go head to head, and you can both vote for your favorite and discuss why you think so.
(and because I'm such a Wikipedia fiend lately, I'll even provide links to the Wikipedia articles about said movies)

Sound fun? Then let's get started!

This time, the opponents are:

Pixar's "A Bug's Life" (199 cool and DreamWork's "Antz" (199 cool

Winners Thus Far:

None yet; First we have to debate!

Alright, I guess I'll start off, because I have a very strong opinion about this one.

I ABHOR ANTZ WITH A BURNING PASSION.
(that means I really hate it)

This movie would give me horrible, freaky nightmares as a kid that still haunt me to this day, and this image here might provide some insight as to why:

Well, it seems this guy is a decapitated head after having his body burned away by acid, yet also is still alive and able to carry on a conversation. That's not desturbing at all!
Also, the characters are all annoying. I can't stand a single one of them.

However, A Bug's Life doesn't scare me at all, in fact I actually enjoy watching it. The characters are awesome and I have loved Flik since I was four years old.

Sure, Antz is filled with references to Communism and all that, and technically speaking that makes is much more deep or whatever, but I still can't get past the fact that that guy has no body, so...

I actually enjoyed Antz a lot more than i did A Bug's Life. I think it might have been because it annoyed me how stupid the ants were in a Bug's life. I mean seriously? they freaked out over a stick. ha.

BUT i agree with you about the head thing. That was terrifying.

Yeah, I have to agree that Antz was a little scarier than A Bug's Life but the detail in the story line in Antz is really great. I like it better than A Bug's Life, it sort of bores me and to be honest it sort of annoys me at times...definitly not one of my more favored Disney movies.

I forgot about that bit of nightmare fuel. Thanks for reminding me.
Definitely liked A Bug’s Life more, although I wasn’t crazy about that movie either, it didn’t have termites, it was termites wasn’t it? It’s been a really long time, all I remember is being terrified in the theater.

If I went back to it now I would probably like Antz more. I'm not nearly as squemish anymore.

Luckily I watch Disney movies and DreamWorks movies daily, so I've seen both A Bug's Life and Antz within the past year. (Along with every other Disney and DreamWorks movie...)

I have to say Antz.
I do enjoy watching the hilarious pitches of Tuck and Roll, and love Mr. Hiemlich and Francis, however I can't help but appreciate the creativity of Antz in so many more ways.

Antz actually has always been funnier to mee as well.

The whole headless scene never actually frightened mee. I guess it's the fact that it's just a child movie that it never truly bothered mee. I was sad that Barbatus ends up dying-considering he was a pretty interesting character-but I guess like I said I knew it was just a cartoon. And really I think a roach living for a week without it's head is a LOT more creepy than a bodyless ant talking to another ant on your television lol.

Plus JLO and Sylvester Stalone just made the movie by always flirting with each other. XD

I have to say A Bugs Life its just so good Ants was funny enough on the T.V the other day and i watched it and i wasn't bothered about the kids shouting over it. I think it has a slow story line but its very similar to A Bugs Life but duller where as A Bugs Life is more appealing its got bright colours and a good atmosphere. I was Bugs Life crazy when i was little.
