It was nice and quite in the common room. I was alone with my book...well almost alone. I finished reading the last sentence on the page, and tried flipping to the next page with my right hand.

I had my head resting in my hand on the chair's arm rest that I was sharing, looking out of the window at the midday sun, day dreaming about the last time I had a moment all to myself. It was interrupted by a nudge from my right side. I looked over and saw that Zack was done reading what was written in the book, and needed my help to turn to the next page. Inwardly I sighed, but I put on a smile and helped him out. The only way we were going to get through this was by working together.
He held his book in place with his hand, and I turned my attention back outside and to the sun.

I hated this. Having to do something as simple as turning a page required Mark's help. I let out a sigh, deciding not to get my self all fired up about it again.
I laid my book face down on the other arm rest, and turned my head to face Mark. "You know, we don't have to stay inside all day. If you want we can take a walk around or something."

I shrugged my shoulder, feeling the same frustration as Zack. It wasn't that I hated Zack, he had become like a brother to me over the last few years, but this new closeness was going to take some time getting use to. I turned to look at Zack and grinned, "If you want to, sure. It would be good practice, and we'd get to know the place better."

I smiled in return, "Okay. Let's go on 3. 1... 2... 3" I griped the arm rest for support as we slid to the edge of the chair and lifted ourselves onto our legs. "I think we're getting the hang of this." Of course I said that prematurely. I tried turning so I could pick up my book, but did so without giving Mark a heads up about the sudden movement.

I panic for a moment, and grab onto Zack as we spin around. Our legs tangle, and I step on his food. We both wince in pain and end up falling over. I glance over to him, "Well, I had a hang on you!"

I couldn't help but start laughing. "I can see that." With some effort, we sat up. "Lets try that one more time."

"Ok! 1... 2... 3!" We stand up and wobble a tiny bit, back and forth. Zack bend us down so he could pick up his book. We both looked nervously at each other and nodded. Zack started out with moving his leg forward, and then I moved mine. We still weren't used to walking together, so we avoided it when we could, and we hadn't ever attempted running.
We wobbled our way over to the bookshelf, grabbing on to every chair and table we passed to steady ourselves. Zack and I worked together to put the book away, then headed for the door leading outside. We pushed it open and felt a nice breeze in the warm air. I took a deep breath and smiled, "Where should we go first?"

Even though I hated the scientists here, I had to admit that the area we were imprisoned in was very beautiful. We took a few more steps forward. A couple of the other kids here gawked at us as they walked by. Ignoring them, I said, "Lets go down to the beach. It's getting late in the day so there shouldn't be too many people there."
