I don't have any more randomly colored Heartgems collecting dust, I lost most of them when my hard drive crashed. So since I gave out my only non-event pet already, I've been thinking about how I want to make some more...

But instead of me trying to come up with ideas by myself, you're all going to help.

This is a semi-custom contest. I will pick my favorite (up to 3) to turn into real, growing Heartgems!

Here's what you have to do!

FIRST you need to come up with a Hue that catches my attention.

SECOND you need to choose one of the following prompts and write an entry!

1) Write what this Heartgem's powers are and how s/he uses them.
This isn't a laundry list, please write in-character ^.^
clarification :: write the powers IN USE, not the character listing them
that's the same as you listing them xD

-OR-

2) Write what would happen if this Heartgem was experiencing "the worst day, ever."
It can range anywhere from funny to horrifying, and be in first or third person.

This contest is open for anyone to enter!
It will close Friday , 4/16 at 8p EST
YOU MAY POST NO MORE THAN TWO FORMS
All forms should be posted here in this thread, please

If you have questions, please ask in the main shop or drop me a PM here on my main account.

Good luck to all of you, I cannot wait to read your entries

owner name ::

number of Heartgems owned :: 0
how many are CYOs :: 0

prompt :: 2

entry ::
Blanco was having the worst day ever. First, he slept in. Then, all the breakfast food was gone, so he had to have soup for breakfast. Cold soup, since the hue with fire powers had left already. After that, he found it went bad last year and was sick the rest of the day.

In spite of that, he went out anyway and tried to get stuff done, but there was a flood and every place he wanted to go was closed. Then, he thought a water moccasin had attacked him, so he swam to a healer, but it turned out it was a harmless king snake instead, so he had wasted his time.

Finally, he headed back home, but the door was locked, so he threw a rock at the window to get his sister's attention, but it ended up breaking the window instead. Then, the shards of glass got him in the eyes, so he had to fashion eyepatches out of leaves and verdant twigs.

Then, his sister let him in, but he couldn't see, so she had to lead him to his room. She left again after that, though, so he messed up getting in bed and sprained his right arm.

In the end, he fell asleep. This was easily the best part of his day.

HUE :: Dreamy Dawn

gem name :: Mikka
gem gender :: Female
owner name :: LadyDelaidra

number of Heartgems owned :: 1
how many are CYOs :: 1 :'D

prompt :: 2

entry ::
A roll of thunder could be heard in the distance. Mikka blearily opened her eyes, grabbed her blanket and turned over. She hated storms. They were loud and annoying. Just like some peoples children.

Another crack of thunder tore through the sky and she gave a small whine and sat up.

"Fine, you stormy b*****d! I'm up! Are you happy?" She growled, shaking her fist to the sky.

She ran a hand through her hair, swung her legs over the bed and check the time.

12:00 noon.

"...OHNOOOO!"

Mikka flew off the bed, and began to tear around her room frantically. She threw on her sash, hastily brushed her hair and scrambled from the room. She was supposed to meet her friend an HOUR ago! Giselle would kill her!

"You're late." Giselle said, as Mikka finally arrived.
"I'm! *pant* sorry! *pant*"
"Whatever. I can see you forgot your rain protector, though." She said, holding her overgrown leaf out to deter the rain from her already soaked head.
"Yeah... it's been a pretty bad day." She said with a sigh.
"Well, I have to go, but take this." Giselle said, handing her a package and her leaf. "You can open it at home."
"But... we're supposed to talk and stuff!" Mikka said, with a frown.
"No time." Giselle shrugged. "See you!"

Mikka watched her friend go and began to cry. What a HORRID day! Waking up late to a thunder storm and getting soaked while trying to meet a friend who bails on her! She floated home, leaf overhead and package under her arm. She sat down on her bed and tore open the package. Inside lay a perfect crystal flower on a bangle. Mikka gave a small gasp and picked up the accompanying letter.

"Hey Mikka! I hear life's been pretty tough recently, bad luck spell maybe? I hope this'll cheer you up!
xoxo
~Giselle"

The flower caught the light in the room beautifully and made small rainbows on the walls. She gave a watery laugh and sighed. The thunder was growing faint. The clouds breaking. It may have been a bad day, but tomorrow looked better.

HUE :: Shimmering Sunrise

gem name :: Sunny
gem gender :: Female
owner name :: r a i n b o w DUCKEH

number of Heartgems owned :: 2
how many are CYOs :: Both. ^^

prompt :: 2

entry ::
Sunny's eyes flickered open as sunlight weaved it's way through her curtain and danced around the pure white walls. The delicate Gem's jaw widened as her arms extended out in a stretch, a loud yawn sliding over her glossy lips. She lifted her upper body slowly as she glanced around the room. As her eyes drifted from one familiar object to another, the glowing orbs finally landed on a small, foreign item that lay delicately on her chest of drawers. Standing elegantly, she drifted gracefully towards the table. Lifting up the piece of paper, her eyes scanned the note. A small frown crumpled up the Gem's flawless face. Replacing the letter back where it was, she swallowed hard, holding back tears.

Sunny glided almost ghost-like down the halls, her eyes glued to the floor, oblivious to the bright paintings and statues around her. Moving down the stairs aimlessly, she slowly made her way to the dining room, her normal smile gone and replaced with a blank, expressionless face. But if one looked deep enough within her cold eyes, they would sense the severe sorrow that filled the girl's being. Seeing another figure at the table, Sunny remained silent as she seated herself, staring at the table.

"Not hungry?" Her mother asked with sincere concern, "You have to build up your energy for the funeral."

Sunny responded with silence, her head moving ever-so-slightly so her gaze moved from the wood to the tiled floor.

Her mother smiled weakly, "Your father was a great man," she said, in an attempt to get her daughter to talk, or at least show some emotion.

A single crystal drop slid down Sunny's marble face, hesitating briefly on her jaw line, before falling to its inevitable encounter with the breakfast table. Giving a sigh of defeat, the girl's mother excused herself and made her way from the room, leaving the motionless girl behind her. Hearing the positive tone "I'm Walking on Sunshine" ring loudly, the previously-statue-like Gem pulled her phone from her pocket.

"Hey, Sunny, it's me, Monique!" Someone said enthusiastically into the phone.

Sunny's response was once again silence.

"…Tough day, buddy?" Her friend asked cautiously, obviously picking up the mood.

A few more tears slid down Sunny's face, before her lips finally parted, only to breathe out a few words into the receiver, "The worst."

With a yawn, I leaned back on my throne, watching my workers around me. Placing my arms behind my head, a smirk crawled onto my face, before I bellowed out to my 'slaves', "Work harder, fools! You don't want to disappoint your master, do you?" This immediately got a reaction as all the workers set about their tasks at a much faster reaction. "Ahh, you've got to love being able to project your voice..." I muttered with a laugh.

As I stood, I examined their work with a frown. "Faster!! That giant statue of me won't build itself!" I shouted once more, striding past them. Now, I'm not cruel. I had every intention of releasing these Gem's to their own consciousness... as soon as my statue was built. 'Everyone has their needs.' I thought with a sneer. Half of them were there by their own will anyway. All it took was some convincing words and a wink.

Seeing a female Gem strut towards me, I tilted my head, a sheepish smile weaving its way onto my lips. "Hello, gorgeous," I whispered, until the Gem was finally standing before me. "Rajak, what you are doing is disgusting, you can't just-" Placing a finger on her lips, I looked down on the Gem who was half a head shorter than me. "Be silent, my princess..." I muttered, moving my lips close to her ear, "You don't want to displease your master..." I leaned back, removing my finger and smirking at the female. She seemed entranced for a moment, before snapping out of it and shouting at me with her whiny voice once more, "Rajak! That's not going to work! Now let these people go or... Or..." Ahh, she had made the mistake of looking into my eyes. I kept her in them, stroking her cheek softly with the back of my hand. "Now go work, my dear," I ordered. "Yes... Master..." She murmured in a drone-like manner.

As she walked off, I couldn't help but sigh. "Darn, she was a cute one too... Oh well, more mindless slaves for me," I said, the usual smirk replacing my frown.

Ok... maybe I'm a little evil.

HUE :: Sundered Earth

gem name :: Eli
gem gender :: Male
owner name :: crispywondermint

number of Heartgems owned :: 2
how many are CYOs :: 2

prompt :: 1

entry ::

Plick…plick…plick. Almost absently, Eli watched as each bit of gravel dropped in the exact center of the ripple from the previous rock, the sound’s steady rhythm enough to lull him into a contented semi-daze. Below, the ocean waves crashed against the cliff face, his home within the craggy features hidden from all but a few he trusted dearly. A few more pieces fell at leisure before a loud Kerplunk! pulled the living gem out of his reverie, now thoroughly soaked.

“Oops.” He gave a sheepish laugh, embarrassed that he’d lost his normally stable grip, even if there was no one around to notice. Wave after wave of ripples burst forth from where the much larger rock had crashed, providing ample targets and egging him on at the same time. His brows furrowed as he concentrated on the effort of removing larger bits of earth from the cliff face, his ultimate design never far from thought. They gentle shook free, rattling bits of dust along with them before plunging one by one into the dark depths below with solid thunks.

Training was utterly boring some days, and this was one of them. What better time, then, to liven things up and work the creative juices. It still counted...sort of.

His masterpiece was coming along brilliantly, half hidden in shadow as gray clouds scudded across an equally dreary sky that almost matched his own coloring. When sunlight broke through, it hit the surface just right, adding depth and life to his art. Still, something was missing.

“Hrmm…” An idea popped into Eli’s head and, without hesitation, he bounded up the rocky path to a wall of solid rock, concentrating as hard as he could before putting his hand up to - through? - the hard surface. Up to his elbow disappeared and though he could go no further, it was enough. He’d found what he was looking for and, oh so gently, tried to coax it out of hiding and into the world for all to see. Slowly, almost painstakingly, a metallic gleam crept to the rocky surface, a vein shimmering as it swirled and came to life before his eyes.

He pulled his arm out swiftly, flopping on the usually uncomfortable ground before his knees gave out on him completely, looking up at the creation with both admiration and approval, perhaps even awe. He would never understand why he was one of those who could manipulate such creation, but he revered it, never once creating it for his own purpose. The sight of his art was more than enough.

Too bad he couldn’t get a better idea of how the entire thing looked…well, actually…

His eyes glimmered as an idea crafted itself in Eli’s mind and, bouncing up with surprising energy, he bounded to the edge of his cliff, almost giddy with excitement. If it worked - if - then he’d be able the sculpture as it was fully meant to be. He looked at the waves, feeling the energy of the seafloor beneath and beckoning it, bending it to his will. It was hard work that left the little living gem rather breathless and sweating, but it was enough. A stalagmite broke through the surface, great crests of foam bursting forth as the rather pointy tip flattened itself to a small platform.

Crossing across the swirling waters stone by stone, the earthen heartgem blissfully climbed up and crested the peak, nearly crowing at his creation. It was done! Excitement flooded his veins, but Eli found that all he could do was sit there, basking in the glory as he waited for his energy to return. Oh well, at least he’d have a good view.

Beauty and perfection, after all, came with a price.

HUE :: Golden Dragonhart

gem name :: Irisita
gem gender :: female
owner name :: Lily_Spiral

number of Heartgems owned :: 2
how many are CYOs :: both

prompt :: 1

entry ::
Breathing in and out, Irisita sat in the middle of the field, trying to mute the sounds of nature around her from her mind.
“Relax, Irisita. This is just training,” she whispers to herself. “You’ve done this before.”

Flexing her wings, she puts her hands together into a hand sign that means barrier. Nature quieted around her and air pressure begins to build around her being. A sweat begins to form beneath her bangs as she concentrates further. A glow begins and surrounds her being giving a very low hum. Hearing this low hum, Irisita opens her eyes to see a green sheen bubble surrounding her and expanded as she stood up slowly, lifting her staff along with her.

Her wings twitches testing the barrier and even taps it for a good measure. It is stronger and sturdier than last time. To her, this is very good news for what she hopes to achieve.

“Let’s begin.”

Holding out her staff in front of her, closing her eyes again, she calls upon the rocks that surrounds her to come towards her, attacking her.

Opening her eyes at the last second, she concentrate on the barrier holding up against the rampage the rocks went against her. Using these two powers at the same time is very difficult for her, as she is nothing but a mere fledgling and practicing on her own. Irisita’s eyes slowly shifts colors from one color to another, her wings twitching against the power surge.

I hope this training will help with my magic stamina. If I can keep a barrier up at the same time attack, this will throw the enemy off!

After five minutes though, the barrier suddenly went down causing the incoming rocks to hit her.

“Oh No!”

Irisita uses her staff to block most of the incoming rocks but still too many kept on coming her.She flew up quickly and calms herself. The moment her feet left the ground, the rocks stopped coming where she used to be.

She sighs in frustration that the training did not last long. What the heck went wrong? Her barrier and telekinesis is not in sync causing her frown into a scowl.

Feeling rather than actually looking, she ripped a part of her sleeve and used it to stop blood flowed from a wound on her left arm. Tch. If only she can heal herself, this would not be a problem. However, in order to have the power to defend and attack, she must sacrifice her ability to heal herself. Being a monk is a pain in the gemheart, she thought to herself.

Irisita was about to stalk back towards her home in the forest only to hear a small chirp on the ground. It is a bird that unwittingly went through the fry of rocks during her personal training session. Her eyes soften, landing softly next to the bird and bend down, lifting the creature gently in her hands.

“Poor little thing.”

Closing her eyes, she concentrated and blue light envelopes the little bird, closing the wounds from within and on the outside. Irisita lifts her hand to the sky as the now-healed bird flew into the heavens.

“Hmmm,” she hums as she watches the bird fly away and then looks in the forest.

She walks towards her home, feeling a bit better despite the wounds stings. At least, at home she can have a nice long hot bath and pouring some sort of healing potions. Tomorrow, she definitely will do better.

HUE :: Amourous Whisper

gem name :: Briallen (Welsh for "primrose")
gem gender :: Female
owner name :: DarkAubrey

number of Heartgems owned :: 1 (waiting on 1 more)
how many are CYOs :: 2

prompt :: 1

entry ::
Briallen lay in a field, the sun shining down on her face. She loved laying among the wildflowers and the grasses of the field. Her cheeks were warm and cozy and made her smile all the more, because she felt love in that warmth. Briallen was always very optimistic and loving, very open and almost overly sweet. Her kind way and words made all those around her feel happy and accepted. This was her way. She preferred that those around her be happy and optimistic, and with a single touch, a feeling of warmth would come over those that she cared for- a comfort and understanding that things were good in the world, kind and sweet.

Briallen would never hurt any living thing or person, and definitely never another of her kind. She rolled over on her tummy, wanting the light to hit her wings. This was the main source of her power: energy from the sun. It always revitalized her, making her feel like a new being. She felt a rolling inside her belly and a leap in her heart- and could not supress the urge to laugh. Her laughter, light and gleeful, rang over the fields. Briallen sprinted up and couldn't resist the urge to run over the grasses, light on her feet, as if nothing in the world could stop her.

She ran until her legs begged her to quit, and she fell, once more, resting in the grasses of the field, letting the rays of the sun give life, love and warmth to her face.
