Richard half smiled, a touch wistfully, at the sight. Second floor, far right... he thought, his eyes locking onto the curtained room; the curtains were heavily stained with grime and dirt.

Richard exhaled softly. Or since that night, he thought. The police didn't come here very often, and when they did, it was basically a half arsed job.

Richard half shrugged. Life is about pain and change; if one can't embrace both... they will not enjoy life to the fullest, he thought. He crossed the street, shifting his gaze from the window and his past to the steps and his future, as he saw it.

Warren fell behind, he was curious. There was always a clue overlooked. He flies up to the apartment and forces a window open. He climbs in and looks around. Using his superhuman senses, he scans the room for something out of place.

The place looked run down and ran sacked. On the floor under a chair was a small necklace with a broken locket. He picks it up and puts it in his pocket. Looking around some more, he notices that a picture frame is askew. He turns the picture around and there is an envelope taped to the back. He takes it and puts it with the locket then leaves to catch up with Richard and Angel.

Warren walks up behind them and hands the envelope and locket he found to Richard. "Maybe your sister was leaving you clues. I found these in the apartment."

"Wow. Considering the state of the room, that envelope it clean! I think you're right," Angel said, directing the last part to Warren.

Richard broke the seal on the envelope, his eyes narrowing fractionally as the glow in them ignited slightly brighter.

If you're reading this, Richard... then something has happened to separate us. I have taken measures to survive, fortunately, and Father will not be able to keep us apart for long. I love you, little brother, and if anything tries to keep us apart, I'm gonna show it the cold embrace of my powers. I won't leave you alone... you can't keep time to save your life.

Richard folded the note carefully and sighed. "She's still alive, but she's been in hiding," he murmured.

Richard shook his head slightly. "Just says 'I've taken measures to survive', not exactly helpful," he said softly. His eyes widened slightly as he connected the dots. He planted one foot on the railing of the stairs and pushed off, shooting up onto the second floor. I should have realized what she means! She had a hidden escape route to get out of there, and she does have a healing factor! he thought. It was the only way she could have survived what that night had brought on both of them.
