So I'm writing a Hunchback of Notre Dame fic (Disney).
I have a character named Gaetane. She managed to get a job as Frollo's assistant in disguise as a boy.
However, unbeknownst to her for a long time, her mother married Clopin. Because of this, her status in life dropped significantly as she is now a daughter of a gypsy. This gave one of Frollo's rivals ample opportunity to force him to fire her.
In the end, I want her, Clopin, Esmeralda (who has by now married Frollo) and her mother to be in acceptance as to the situation. Her mother wants a daughter who can be/is married, and Esmeralda doesn't like Gaetane's attitude towards her because she suspects Esmeralda of being shallow and mean.
