I lay on the ground, spread out. Twitching and squirming, I cringe and curl into myself in pain. I feel my self changing. Naked from tearing at my clothes. I feel and hear my body transform. My bones and structure make popping/cracking sounds as they seem to grow. My face, once so human, painfully mutates to a muzzle. My nails, hands and feet start to change into huge claws and paws. Fur stars to grow on every millimeter of my transforming body.
I feel the moonlight from my bedroom window cover me like a blanket of false hope. I feel myself changing and my limbs getting more animal-like. The pain seems to slow and my breathing returns from being the ragged screams and growls. I open my eyes and instead of standing on a pair of feet , I stand on four paws.
Instead of a scream of shock, a yelp escapes my muzzle. I blink in shock once more. Looking in the mirror a big black wolf stood looking back where a girl should be.
Turning to the side I see a tail wagging nervously. A silver streak down its back and to the muzzle. The wolf's paws looked like it had stepped in silver paint. I'm captivated by the wolf-like eyes; They were the brightest pale violet orbs I had ever seen and felt my wolf ears point up straight to listen as my parents run up the stairs in alarm. I am panicking in silence as my hackles raise on the back of my wolf-like neck and along my spine.

The door to my room slams open and a scream is heard coming from my mother's mouth. It hurt my sensitive hearing. My clothes were torn on the floor where I once laid as a human. My change made worry for a minute...before they sighed in relief!
"Oh good. It was just her first phase," my father said. His deep voice fitting his English accent. My mother relaxed as well.
I stare at them in shock. "My first phase," I meant to exclaim, but all that came from my muzzle were growls and snarls. Nodding like they understood my noises they move carefully into my room and sit on my bed.
"How do I change back," I ask in fear. Again only coming out in a growling bark.
"I hate this!" I thought to myself with a frustrated growl escaping my wolfish lips. To my scared surprise, my lips were pulled back revealing two rows of dagger sharp teeth. Pulling my ears back against my wolf head, I whimper and apology. My parents look shocked at me. I sit on my haunches and look down in shame.
My mother stood up and knelt beside this animal that I was now. Fear replaced with sympathy.
"You will change back when the full moon leaves and dawn touches the sky," my mother soothed in an American accent. I didn't need it, especially from my mother. I scoot away from her hand that was reaching out to pet my wolf head. I glared at my parents.
"They lied to me," I thought in disgust. My own mother was trying to comfort me like. . .Like I was a dog! This upset me even more.
"I'm only 15 years old for Christ's sake!" I yelp. My father's look of scorn told me that I swore and I looked down; ashamed once more. I hopped on my bed and lay down to sleep. My parents leave me alone in my room.

I wake the next morning on my stomach. "I'm a girl again!" I mentally exclaim, blissfully comforted by that fact. I glare as the memories of last night come flooding back while I'm surrounded by the steam of my finished shower. Placing a robe over my bare body, I dry my hair. I walk into my closet. Picking out my black velvet tube top dress that was form-fitting and rested a flirtatious inch above my knee. My usual choice in shoes were ballet flats--black with ribbons that I tie just above my kneecap. And for the finishing touches, I place a chain choker with black velvet ribbon weaving through it around my neck and matching black velvet sleeves that went just past her elbow with an elastic loop that my middle finger went through, making a point on the back of my hand.
Judging my human body and outfit, I nod approvingly at my reflection before pulling my dark chocolate hair into two, even ponytails that rest against the small of my back. I knew I was different from everyone else in my school; with my pale skin that seemed almost unnatural and eyes like burning sapphires. My body, athletic like that of a young Amazon. Or so people say. I grab my pouch of money and tie it to the blood red sash that was tied like a belt around my hips and leave.
I wasn't going to let this go, they need to tell me what happened to me last night, but I had to rush to school and act like last night didn't happen. How I wish it hadn't, I think to myself in prayer. It's Friday so I'm not too worried when it comes to homework. I'm just glad it's the end of the week; it gives me time to get answers.

*****

The bell hasn't rung yet so I head over to my hangout; the Photography classroom. I see my best friend, Peter is already there. His feathery shoulder-length bluish black hair hid most of his face almost all the time. I'm still trying to figure out how he's able to walk without bumping into anyone. I smile at him and the teacher before sitting next to Peter.
Nearly every girl has asked him out. But not me. And he's denied every one. I mean, I've known the guy since kindergarten. We took baths together until we were 5 years old. We were more like siblings than anything.
"Hey," He greets me with his deep tenor of a voice. His eyes, the darkest silver you could see, catch my jewel colored eyes.
"Hey," I reply happily in my soft soprano voice. I couldn't help staring into those eyes. What made it nice was that he didn't care if I did. Ours were such rare colors; that's what made us friends in kindergarten.
"So what's new," I ask as I look at the books I carry for my classes. "Nothing too unusual," Peter replies. He always has something going on at his house. "Besides my mom and I hearing howls and snarls last night," He adds. That made me shiver. Okay, so others did hear me the night before, I think to myself. "Are you okay," My best friend asks. "Yeah, I'm fine. Just remembering last night is all," I assure him lamely but calm.
I can hear the slight shakiness of my voice but he doesn't seem to or knows I want him to ignore it. "Ah, it seemed to come from around your area of the neighborhood, so I'd thought I'd ask." I catch the curiosity in his voice but his expression is unreadable.
I tense slightly and look at him again only with my eyes. He stares back at me with an interesting look.
"What? Do I have something on my face?" I ask, a little selfconscious. Peter just shakes head and looks at his hands. "No, you look just fine, Kaiden," He whispers. Is he blushing? That's a first, well, for me. "Okay, cool," I whisper back.
