On the dance floor people move,
They sway and swirl to the music.
Off on the side,
On the room's wall,
Is me.
I watch the people,
Dancing,
Spinning,
Swaying,
Twirling.
The music changes,
Some people leave the room,
Some stay,
New people come in.
Off to the side,
On the wall,
Is me.
People gather together as a song they all know comes up,
They sing the words,
Dance to the music as one.
And still I stand at the wall.
Some of the people try to bring me on the floor,
I turn them away.
They walk off looking confused,
Because they don't know why.
I don't dance,
I never have.
I've never learned,
The way to move my body,
So that my arms flow through the song,
Or my legs sway to the music,
Or my feet glide over the tune.
I stay on the wall.
Dancing's not my thing.
Being a Wallflower is.
Watching everyone,
Having laughs,
Moving in my head to the music on the floor.
I don't think that dancing is my thing,
Because being a Wallflower is so much more.
