xxxxxxxxxxSalutations students;Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts. As you may have noticed, there has been some changes to the Charms class. For starters, Professor Wixom has stepped down from her Charms position as she is now in the process of obtaining her credentials as Headmistress with her training as I have done the previous year. As a result, she has allowed me to take her place. This is also my year that will prove whether I have what it takes to be a teacher. So I do ask that all of you behave when Ministry officials visit to do checks on me. I will make sure to inform you before time if they will be arriving.
Professor Wixom will still be around to check on things and make sure that everything is going smoothly. Now, even though Professor Wixom is no longer teaching Charms, it does not give you the right to slack off. Which brings the next new addition to this class. I understand that under Professor Wixom's teaching, this class had it's fair amount of difficulty. However, I believe that I have the right to push up the difficulty. So I will be teaching this class in an advanced level. Expect quizzes and tests and very tough grading. I realize that there are some that believe this class is the easiest; I too believe so. But it has come to my attention years later that Charms is very important. So, treat this class like Transfiguration and Defense and work extra hard to pass.
As for discipline, I will not tolerate fooling around. If you cross the line, there will be no warnings. I do not believe in three strikes you're out. So do not test me. I will dock points like my life depended on it. And I will kick you out of my class. And I am not afraid to fail you on the spot.
Now that that has been taken care of, I hope to have a successful school year.
See you in class.Sincerely, xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Professor A.J. Travisxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

*Approved by LittleGringotts* User Name: D i R T i E de-TALES Student-Teacher name: Atticus Jeremy Travis House: Hufflepuff Year: First Year Teacher in Training Age: Twenty Blood: Pure blood Wand: Eleven and a half ll beech wood ll phoenix feather
History: My life has been what everyone would consider, calm. No real trauma that have torn my family apart. No drama that could affect my life for the rest of my days. It's just been, well, normal. Or at least as normal as normal could get. My parents married at a good age of twenty-three and twenty-five. The year after their marriage they gave birth to my older brother Anthony. Three years after that I was born. My childhood was spent in the country side of France. Such a beautiful place. I remember in my childhood years I had told myself that I didn't want to leave that place. But once my brother got his letter into Hogwarts, I had been devastated that we had to move to London just to be closer to Hogwarts. I had known all along that my brother would some day have to go to that magical school. But being the little boy I was, I didn't want to think about it. Sometimes I had even imagined that Hogwarts didn't exsist and that my family was just filled with Muggles.
I had to admit that I was really sour about moving to London when I was younger. I mean, you can't really blame my reaction. I was an eight year old boy that was in love with the country side and felt that I would not adapt to the city surroundings. That can pretty much explain why I was crying for the next whole month when my family was getting associated into our new home. It was nice I had to admit, but it wasn't as big as the home we had in France. Then again, not that many homes in London were as beautiful as the ones in France. Anyway, I finished elementary school in an all boys private school close to my house. It was an okay experience since my English was very clear. I had made plenty of friends and became popular with the girls at the all girls school a block away. I don't exactly know why so many people liked me. Maybe it had to do with my looks?
Anyway, the day I had finished with elementary school I got my letter. My brother was entering his fourth year so he was so excited to finally be able to pick on me while during Hogwarts. Anthony missed me that much. Anyway, no, Anthony wasn't that mean to me during my first year. In fact he had been my guide for the first couple months so that I wouldn't get lost. It was during my first year that I finally became curious about my family's history when it came to Hogwarts. I was surprised to find that all my family had been sorted into Hufflepuff, myself included. The longer I remained at Hogwarts. The more I finally got use to living in London. The years of my youth soon flashed by with a blink of an eye. I had friends, many friends. I had girlfriends. I've experienced love, and heart break. Basically everything a teenager should deal with during school. Only mine was more dangerous since if I broke a girl's heart, they could curse me in an instant. But one way or another, I survived Hogwarts with high marks on my O.W.L.s and my N.E.W.T.s. However, unlike many of my classmates who wanted to be Aurors and Healers and all other awesome occupations, I wanted to go into teaching.
And so began my journey. Okay not really a journey. The Ministry had this program for students that had finished Hogwarts and have an interest in teaching. I immediately signed up for the program just so that I could attempt to finish early and get into teaching. However, I was upset to hear that it did take a while. The first two years were reserved for refreshing on the material of the subject. And then another two years was a time being a Student-Teacher. Luckily for me, I only spent one year refreshing my memory on Charms. So now I begin my two years of being a Student-Teacher. However, I felt anxious because when I got the news they had told me that the Charms teacher at Hogwarts had come straight out of Hogwarts. I didn't get it. Why did Hogwarts accept a person to teach when they had gotten straight out of Hogwarts? One it was just not fair and two it was just not fair. I didn't care that this person was the Head Girl and had been given a lot of important positions during her years at Hogwarts. That didn't give a student an excuse to be a teacher right after getting out of Hogwarts. It just didn't. The only excuse that I could have thought up was that the school was on whack mode ever since Walker's death and Dasklin was probably just desperate. Whatever.
My first year as student-teacher was whatever. Not that much excitement since I had my own papers to do and I hardly did teaching. Well, when I did there wasn't any excitement as well. I think some of the students were intimidated with me. Which is a good thing, I guess. Charms class needs a new rep anyway. Personality: I could be the most friendliest person you know, or the meanest b*****d in all the world. But I'm mostly nice. I try not to look at labels to make me understand people. Maybe that's one of the reasons why I was so likeable in my years at school. My mother had taught me that I should never judge a book by it's cover. You could be the sluttiest person in the world, but I'll have to know you first before I make my decision. I'm a very reasonable person to talk to. While I speak to you, I make sure to find the common sense in what you're saying. If you don't give such common sense, then I'll easily make sure to inform you about it.
Even though I'm the nicest person you could ever know, I'm also the meanest. I don't take bullshit from anyone. If you get on my last nerves, you'll definitely know about it either through words or with just a physical move. I rarely show my temper, because I've learned to control it now that I'm interested in becoming a teacher. But like I have mentioned, if you piss me off, be ready to know about it. Pet: I have a snowy owl. Her name is Sakura just because cherry blossoms are pretty flowers. Position: Charms Teacher in Training Other: I'll let you know.

I have a few rules in my class that will be followed no matter what house or what year you're in. •xxxxxxxxxB e h a v i o rAbsolutely no speaking unless you are told to. I have actually taught myself to have good hearing people. I can sense where the noise has come from without looking for it. I will be able to see which one of you students is breaking my rules. Now on to other business, like speaking, I will not allow any wand movement in my class while I am teaching. Unless I give you permission to, I would like all of you not to take out your wand. If I see just the tip of your wand, it will be confiscated for the whole day and you will have two days worth of detention. I am teaching you things that you will use in the real world ladies and gentlemen. I have no time for horse play in my class. That is why I do not believe in a warning policy. Out in the real world, there are no warnings, it's either you deal with the punishment, or pay the consequence for being defiant. I am not here to babysit you for a whole period. That is not my job. So I expect my rules to be followed. And don't think that rebelling against my rules is going to solve anything. It's your own decision to be here. If you want to fail my class, then fine, fail it. I am only here to teach the students that want to learn. If you want to be a smart a** and try to do stupid stuff in my class, get out now. But remember that this is a required class, especially for when you are looking for a job as an Auror or a Healer. You pay attention in my class, and you pass it, I can already see a bright future for you.
Also, like I said about the warning policy, I also don't have a second chance policy. So think very hard about what you do to get yourself kicked out of my class. Once you're out of my class and my role sheet, you're out for good. I will not take second chances. One mistake that leads you to getting out of my class and it's game over for you. I will take you back however, when you can persuade me to take you back. But I'm a hard man to persuade, and don't you dare go to the Headmistress for help. Se is a busy woman and does not need to likes of you drop outs in her way of her job. •xxxxxxxxxH o m e w o r k A n d T e s t sI'm very strict on homework and expect them to be turned in on time. Extra credit will be given to those students who turn their assignments before the deadline. All assignments turned in late will be burned into dust right in front of your eyes. I will not tolerate late work at all. I give at least one or two essays a week, but the main thing I would like all of you students to do as homework is review what you have learned in the whole week. Every Friday, whether I am sick or absent for another reason, I will give out a test. Yes ladies and gentlemen, a test. Not a quiz. The tests consist of two parts. The first is the written exam. It is fifty questions: some are multiple choice, matching, and free response. The second part consists of two physical excercises to show me if you were really paying attention. Also, before I forget, if you have not completed a homework assignment and want to turn it in on time, come straight to tutoring and you have until curfew to finish your assignment and turn it in. After curfew, I will not accept it.•xxxxxxxxxT u t o r i n gI only give out tutoring during my free periods. Any other time will not work for me. If you are free to come during my free periods, come in and sit at a desk. I will be walking around to come and assist anyone that needs help. But my same rules apply to tutoring. No wand movements unless you have my permission. •xxxxxxxxxD e t e n t i o nI have a very big thing for detention ladies and gentlemen. Break any of my rules, even if it's a little break, you'll be given detention. And I'm not going to go easy on you, even if you're first years. I am not one to give out lines for you to copy. That doesn't do anything. I'm not into torturing either. That's pointless and tacky for teachers to do. But I will have individual assignments for you to do, and they will not be easy.•xxxxxxxxxT a r d i e s A n d A b s e n c e sIf you are absent or tardy during my class, it is your responsibility to get the assignments and the lessons that were taught that day. I will not review or remind any students of any homework assignments that were given the day after. You must learn to fend for yourself ladies and gentlemen. Live your own life. I am not here to mommy you. Also, when you return from your absence, I would like a note from either your Head of House or the nurse. Never ever ask the Headmistress, unless your reason for being absent was because you had a meeting with her. I want this note to be handwritten from the teacher and not from your handwriting. It is the same for tardies, the only way you can get out of being punished is with a note from either the nurse or your Head of House. No note, one point will be taken away from your house for every minute you're late. And you will also get detention. These are my rules ladies and gentlemen. I expect them to be followed. If they are broken in any way, it will lead you to a detention or getting kicked out of my class.

Just because this is a required class, doesn't mean you are officially in. The first thing you must do is fill out the form below to officially be signed into the class. Once you have filled in that form, send it through pm with the title "Charms Sign-In Form" with a completely filled out form. In this form, I expect complete sentences WITH explanation in the required places. My classes are more advanced than the basic level. If you can not make a full and complete sentence, then go back to second grade. Name, House, and Year :: Self-explanatory Reasons why you want to be in my class :: I do not want "Because it's a required class" If the only reason why you want to be in my class is because it's required, then don't waste my time if you're not going to enjoy it. Here you are to prove to me why I should admit you into my class. List AND explain traits and other characteristics that prove to me that you can handle my class and that you can pass it with understanding of the subject. The minimum number of words in this brag sheet is 150 but more than that is highly recommended that it's actually required. Going above the requirement proves to me that you are willing to go above and beyond. The way you'll know if you are approved into my class is if your reply message says "Approved" as the reply. Don't b***h if I say "Denied." It means there is something wrong with your form and that you need to fix it before sending it back to me in a fresh pm.

~Emily A. Wixom~ Emily was once again sitting in the Charms classroom, ready to teach. It was different this time however, because it wasn't her class. This was Atticus' class now, and she was just filling in. He had suddenly started filling very ill, and asked Emily to cover for him. Emily's heart had jumped at that request. She was aching to teach this year. As soon as her heart had leapt however it had fallen because she realized it wasn't her class. She had to keep to Atticus' procedures. She wasn't sure how she was going to pull this off since she had to be tougher on them than she normally would, but she had to prepare them for when Atticus took over again. Emily sighed as she sat behind the desk reading the packet Atticus had given her for this first day. She couldn't believe he was starting them out so hard on the first day back, but she had to go through it. She smiled sweetly and kindly greeted the students that walked in. Many gave her confused looks. She understood them. She wasn't supposed to be right here. She was just a wall flower this year making sure nobody killed anyone. Yet here she was.

Seth Norton strode into charms, cloak flying behind him. The scarab-shaped clasp that fastened his robes gleamed in the dawn light, and Esrath reared his head, looking around the room. "Decxairo," Seth said in Ancient Egyptian, then translated. "Good morning, Headmistriss." He nodded at her and took his seat, pulling out a roll of papyrus, which he preferred to parchment.
Settling himself in his seat, he thought back to last night. "That was the best night's sleep I think I've ever had," he said to Esrath. "Those four-poster beds are -to use the Yank- somethin' else."

Alex walked into the Charms class with a half smile. She was glad to be back. Without Jessica summer had been extremly hard. Here she knew she would still miss her best friend but at least she had Alexander and Kaydin to keep her mind off Jessica. When she saw Emily however she stoped shoked. "Good Morning Professor." She said with a smile, taking a seat. She watched another boy she didn't know walk in as well and figured he must be the 'Seth Norton' Emily had mentioned the day before. She had about choked when she realized that Alyssa was going to be helping with Care of Magical Creatures, and Angel would be helping with Transfiguration. While Alyssa and she hadn't been best friends, they had become somewhat friends last year. That was going to make this year highly entertaning. Course Alyssa's Grandmother was still Head of their house, so she would have to be careful around here. Alex couldn't help but think how Alyssa was going to handle having to teach all of her friends. Alex wondered if she should give the girl a hard time just for kicks. Then again she wasn't sure detention was worth teasing her friend.

~Emily A. Wixom~
Emily smiled as the students started pouring in, glad they were making an effort to be on time. Emily tugged at the braid she wore tied off with a dark blue hair ribbon to match her robes. Once the bell rang Emily took a deep breath and smiled. "Alright, good morning class. You may be wondering what I'm doing here when Professor Travis is supposed to be teaching this class this year, but Professor Travis is not feeling well right now, so I am stepping in. I will however have to uphold Professor Travis' rules. I therefore need you to take our your summer assignment, place it on my desk, and then see me so I can show you to your assigned seat for the year." Emily smiled at the groans she heard. She had always thought that assigned seating was a dumb idea, but she guessed it had it's advantages. Either way, it was what Atticus wanted, and he had promised to get the class started out.
Once the students were in their assigned seats Emily took a deep breath once more and picked up a stack of papers. "Alright, Professor Travis wants you guys to work on this packet. He says that it is due first thing tomorrow and that there is no need to speak. If you keep it quiet however, I don't see any harm in it." Emily gave her normal smile and sat down at the desk. She would help Atticus grade, but she 1 didn't know his grading system, and 2 didn't have the time. She had a lot of other things going through her mind. She was supposed to check on Ember and her Divination classes, and Pam and her History classes to make sure the new teachers weren't having any trouble. She had also planned on stopping in to check on Alyssa and Angel to make sure they weren't going belly under, even if they were just interns, and Emily doubted that either John or Margret would let the young girls falter too terribly.
Emily sighed. She guessed she really was worrying too much, but still. There was a lot of things on her mind. A lot of things that had to be done. Normally Emily would have gotten everything listed proper and organized during the summer, but her entire summer had been taken by classes. Classes that Emily had deemed useless, but the Ministry deemed required.
~Samuel S. Samson~
Sam stalked into class just before the bell rang, with his normal grin plastered across his face. He saw Professor Wixom pulled his had about an inch off his head. "Morning ma-am." He greeted sliding into the first available seat. Once in the chair Sam slid his book bag to the floor, and placed his hat under his chair so he those behind him could see. Sam was fully aware that he was tall, and therefore didn't need to add his hat to being in the way. He said hello to a few of his fellow students, and took his time getting his things out as he listened to Professor Wixom. He nodded quietly at her explanation about Professor Travis and hoped he wasn't seriously ill. At the same time however, he was glad Professor Wixom was teaching today. He had absolutely loved her classes.
When Professor Wixom mentioned assigned seats, Sam was one of those to let out an audible groan. Assigned seating was dumb. He knew Professors only did it to shut kids up, but they were 6th and 7th years now. Surely they should be given a chance to prove that they were mature enough. He knew that he wouldn't gain anything about arguing about it with Professor Wixom however, so silently got up, turned in his homework, and then sat at his 'assigned' seat. One good thing however was that no matter who Sam got sat by, he made friends easily. He would be sure to behave however because now he was a 6th year and could get kicked out of this class easily.

Colt Shevington Colt ran into class, cursing himself for being a minute late to class. It was the first day of class, and he knew he had just earned himself a detention, or at least points off of his House. He walked in just as Professor Wixom was assigning seats for the year. Wait, Professor Wixom? Wasn't that Travis guy supposed to be teaching Charms this year? Knowing he had missed a very important announcement regarding that, he apologized to Professor Wixom for being late and took his assigned seat next to...Samuel! Colt grinned at his best friend as he took out his quill and ink; they usually ended up sitting next to each other when seats were assigned because both of their last names began with an "S." At least he would always have a partner to work with during practical exercises. Once Professor Wixom handed out the packets of work that Professor Travis assigned for them to do and stated that they could talk quietly amongst each other, Colt turned to Samuel and asked, "So why's Professor Wixom teaching Charms today? Did the Travis guy quit or something?"

Seth exchanged a glance with Esrath. Summer assignment? Great, I'm getting off to a bad start already. He raised his hand. "Uh, professor, I'm new and I didn't realize there was a summer assignment." This wasn't strictly true, but Seth decided it was preferable to admitting the assignment instructions had been shredded by a misfired curse. As he looked over the packet, he recognized the majority of the spells, and quickly filled in the information. However, he soon came to a bunch that he'd never seen before. "What the hell's a Protean Charm?" he muttered to himself. "Any thoughts, Esrath?" The serpent shook his head apologetically. Seth sighed, heaving one of his spellbooks onto the table and began paging through it. "Hmm. A means of magically linking two or more objects such that their appearances mimic each other. Interesting."

Alex was positoned a a row behind, and a desk to the right of Sam, and therfore heard Cole's comment and laughed. Leaning forward she smiled and whispered just loud enough for Sam and Cole to hear. "Professor Wixom says Professor Travis isn't feeling well today. I wish she was our Professor though. The homework Travis assigned over the summer was insane. I thought I was going to go out of my mind." Alex knew she couldn't speak loud enough for Professor Wixom to hear, or she'd get in trouble. Professor Wixom was a very tolerant woman, but she didn't hold with disrespect towards others, and definately not towards her staff. While Alex knew she wasn't disrespecting him terribly, and that Professor Wixom didn't like him too much anyways, she also knew that if she was heard talking like she was, it wouldn't go over well. With that she looked over at Seth, and leaned in closer. "What's the guy doing with the snake anyways? 1 he's wearing Ravenclaw blue and the snake is the Slytherin animal, 2 why would he be carrying it around with him like that. I saw it at the dinner table last night and almost gagged. Don't know how that Brechkovsky robot could eat with the thing right in front of her. Then again, she's a strange one herself.

~Samuel S. Samson~
Sam watched Colt come in and shook his head. Colt was his best friend, and some even called the boy a 9th Samson, but sometimes he was just so slow. Sam wondered quietly if Wixom was going to give him detention. When it had been her class she was lenient, but he knew that it was Travis' class, and he would give out detention. He was however glad that Cole was able to sit next to him. Class was just so much more entertaining with his best friend there beside him.
Sam was quietly working on the packet when he saw Alex lean forward. He wasn't sure what exactly he thought of Alex. She was a Slytherin, so he was supposed to hate her right? On the other hand though, she wasn't as stuck up and stupid as the other Slytherin's. She was actually kind of nice. Yes she had her moments, but for the most part she was a pretty nice girl. To make matters worse... Colt was sweet on her. He couldn't hate a girl his best friend fancied. Of course Sam had no clue why the boy liked her so much. It wasn't any of his affair really. When she started talking about Travis and wishing Wixom was their teacher however, Sam would have to agree full heartedly with her. Of course, he knew better than to say anything aloud for fear of Professor Wixom hearing and getting after them. At the mention of the snake however, Sam glanced over at the new Ravenclaw boy, and shrugged. This was when Sam didn't exactly hanker to her. "You should go minding your own business Alex. Professor Wixom seems to be alright with it, so it's not like it's any of our affair. As for the Brechkovsky robot... I mean girl. Brechkovsky girl, you really shouldn't judge when you don't even talk to her. Looks like her sister got sorted into Slytherin, so why don't you go talking with her instead?" Sam knew Colt was probably going to deck him one later, but he also knew he didn't want more trouble so he wouldn't do it in front of Professor Wixom since she was so strict on no fighting.
~Emily A. Wixom~
Emily heard the excuse from Seth about not having his summer homework and sighed. "Mr. Norton, I am afraid that you will have to take that matter up with Professor Travis when he returns tomorrow because I do not have the authority to deal with that." Even as she said it she felt strange. She was just short of the Headmistress, and she was the true holder of this class. Atticus was just the student teacher. She didn't have the authority? With a sigh Emily shook her head. She had to let him have the reigns. She wouldn't go interfering if this was Daniel or Johnathan's class. She couldn't go doing it for Atticus.
When Colt ran in late Emily heaved another sigh. She really wasn't enjoying this anymore. It wasn't her class, she had to obey by his rules. Uphold his procedures. She gave his seat and the packet to work on. "Colt, I'm sorry, but you have detention this evening. I'll speak with Professor Travis to see if he wants you to serve it with me or himself." Emily forced her head up. Forced herself to look at Colt. She hated the fact that she had to give him detention. Emily knew for a fact that she was very rarely on time for class. She had gone to several evenings of detention for it herself. She guessed she really shouldn't have been as tolerant of it herself, but now she really didn't have a choice.
Emily heard voices and rose her head. She had stated that they could speak quietly, but she also needed to make sure that they were working. She saw Alexandria Lasil bent over talking to Sam and Colt and shook her head. She watched for a few moments, and when Alex didn't return to her studies she was about to speak. Sam piped in however, and he looked fairly flustered. Emily shook her head. She was wearing the glasses she had been perscribed for reading over the summer, but she took them off as she looked at Alex and Colt. "Miss Lasil, Mister Samson, if you don't want join your classmate in detention I suggest you stop the chatter and get to work. Professor Travis told me to let you know there was no need to talk. I will take that away if I have to get after anyone again." Emily knew this was a major improvement from when she had first started.

Colt Shevington Colt nodded at Professor Wixom when she told him that he would have to serve detention either with her or Professor Travis that night; he had expected as much, especially from the new classroom rules. He sighed as he turned to his packet, but then he heard a familiar voice answer his question about why Professor Wixom was teaching Charms that day, and he was no longer able to concentrate on anything else. His heart beat faster, and he felt a slight flush creeping up his cheeks as he turned to face Alex. Colt wasn't at all sure when his feelings for Alex surfaced, but all he knew was that he really fancied the girl. No, it wasn't love just yet, but he really did wish he could get to know her a little better, even if she was a whole year older than him. Colt had been about to answer her when Sam beat him to the punch and was not very friendly in his response. Colt threw him a warning look--which Sam missed entirely--and was about to say something nasty in retaliation, when Professor Wixom reprimanded Alex and Sam for talking and not working, threatening them with detention. Colt went back to his packet, feeling a bit smug at the fact that his best friend had gotten some of what was coming to him for speaking so rudely to Alex. Colt knew that Sam didn't really like her much, but it was times like these when Sam crossed the line and pissed Colt off in a way he had never been able to before. Colt wondered why that was, but he figured it had something to do with him liking Alex. (( ))
