This is a story I'm trying to figure out the logistics of. I'm still working on the rules of the world, and the characters will have a conversation about them soon. I'll probably rearrange a lot of stuff soon.

INTRODUCTION:

The Three Powers was founded after the Battle of the Heretic. For three millennia, the most dangerous and unpredictable gods had been Harris, Nashra, and Vunci. Harris because he was the king of dark magic, Vunci because he wished to conquer with wisdom, and Nashra because he constantly acted on behalf of rebels and heroes. However, it became clear after the battle that there was going to have to be a new order.

After the battle, Vunci had finally prevailed in forming an Age of Enlightenment. The old barbarism was behind us, and we began to stray from the paths of magic and lore. To ensure that he could remain in command, Vunci wisely made deals with Harris and Nashra to gain their devotion. (Or what counted as devotion between dark gods and vagabond heroes.) The three pooled their armies and resources, situating them in a newly formed citadel between Helsimond and Brunehaven. The city was called Jaitoph.

Jaitoph became the last place of power in the world. When humans were chosen by one of the three gods, they were offered a place there. Over time, fewer and fewer were qualified, and the armies dwindled down to only a few dozen necessary warriors. By doing this, the best became servants to The Three and everyone else moved on with their lives. Otherworldly wars became few and far between. And when another god decided to make a move, they stood no chance against the forces of Jaitoph.

Each of the gods would keep a liaison between them and their heroes. These men and women were the most fierce humans and spirits on the earth. These liaisons would handle the business of the gods, making their intervention even less necessary. Through this, Vunci believed he could form and maintain a rational world.

CHAPTER 1:

The West Quarter was the home of Nashra’s loyals. It was the closest to the sun, which was forever stretching toward five PM over Jaitoph. It was mostly uninhabited.

A yellow dust cloud spiraled into the central square of Bronzehearth as Vunci’s liaison appeared. She had flowing red hair and acorn colored eyes. Her green dress suspended a yellow orb at the base of her neck.

Detrovic, Nashra’s liaison, was waiting for her on the edge of a fountain. His orange hair was cropped up with steel mesh. He wore a tattered brown military jacket unbuttoned, and a pair of cargo jeans. A cougar was lying at his feet as he cleaned his hands in the water.

He smiled at her, keeping one eye closed because the sun was at her back. “Margerot. It’s good to see you. How’s life with Mr. Big and Smart?”

Margerot crossed her arms and gave him a bemused stare. “Vunci’s fine. He sends his highest regards. He says he wishes he could come himself. ”

Detrovic rolled his eyes. The cougar tromped over to Margerot and nuzzled her sleeve. “Well then, let’s get the bad news over with. Every time I see you, Vunci has some favor to ask. All the magic in the world, and I’m still the one who’s protecting his interests. You know, technically I don’t have to obey any god other than my own.”

Margerot patiently waited for him to stop being smug.

He smiled. “It really is good to see you again.”

She pushed a strand of hair out of her eyes. “This time, I’m the one that wants your help. I need an apprentice. A nice young girl I can teach.”

Detrovic nodded thoughtfully. “Do you have one in mind?”

This conversation is going to be completely different in about an hour. I just had inspiration, but I didn't want to just leave a crappy introduction as my only post.
