Kathryn sighed as she sunk onto the floor of her front porch. Well, you couldn't really call the shabby thing a porch. It was a mere six boards lazily stuck together with nails -- and the builders didn't do too much of a good job. What a rich man might have as a galiant, impressive roof for his porch was a bunch of dead palm-like leaves and branches for Kathryn. But the falcon-fused girl didn't mind... she had been homeless before, and this was far better than being homeless and on the streets.

Watching the bustling crowd was something that Kathryn did nearly every day. Most of the people were wearing rags and such for clothes... it was the slums, wasn't it? Pretty much everyone was poor. Another sigh escaped Kathryn's mouth as she dreamily watched the marketplace; her eyes were right on the rich people. Even though they were snobs in Kathryn's eyes, she still envied the gorgeous clothes the the ladies beheld. Oh, and even the men... they had handsome clothes on their backs, too.

"Why is the world like this?" she muttered, thinking back on how the world must have been centuries ago. I bet it was way better than here... she thought, standing up decidedly. Noticing that she got some dust on her maid-like dress, Kathryn slapped at the cloth and glared at the descending dust with satisfaction. Then she prepared to go back inside of that tiny house she was renting...

The blonde dragged herself down the road. The market was busy today, but there seemed to be too many guards around. Pickpocketing was just not gonna work. The tips of her hair, all the way down at her waist, switched back and forth, almost as if she had a tail. Actually, more like they were resting on a tail. The dingy, threadbare rainbow scarf she wore behaved quite the same way.

Coyote was proud yes and it pushed her into the throngs of people bargaining for the best and the worst of food stuffs. It was thirsty for a trick, a piece of proof that it was the best. The pair of them had been a little hungry for the past week. Being safe was good; winning needed a little risk though.

Surprisingly, she didn't need too much of a prod from her Meld. A pair of ladies, led through the street by a pair of matching maids, weren't being to careful with their purses. The small, silken bags were hanging open just enough that the blonde teen could reach in and snitch a few credit bars from each of them. Turning, she noticed another long-haired woman watching from her stoop. Uh oh. Why didn't I check my background first? She slid the bars into her own pocket and walked toward the shambling house.

Just as she was getting ready to go inside of the house (or more like... hut), she sensed something. Her Meld was tugging at her to looked behind. Sharp as she was, Kathryn couldn't resist and spun around. At first, she didn't recognize anything strange, until she spotted a girl. The girl seemed suspicious enough, but Kathryn's eyes widened as she... stole credit bars right out of some women's purses!

Kathryn sat there, trembling. She had no idea what to do! There were too many options... call the guards? Shout for help? Go after the lady herself? Frustrated, Kathryn just decided not to interfere with anything. She wanted an ordinary life, right?

Then she noticed that the thief was coming right towards her house! Gasping, Kathryn blinked and backed up a little bit. "D-don't come any closer!" Kathryn threatened. "Or I'll... I'll call the guards! I saw you steal from those innocent ladies..." For some reason, Kathryn's voice was wavering doubtfully. How did she really know that the ladies were innocent? And from what this world was becoming, the real bad guys were the guards and stuff, right? But Kathryn ignored her thoughts and integrity and stared at the thief with fearful dark orbs.

The coyote half rose its hackles at the threat when the woman chose to speak to her. The blond, human half just smirked. Intuition told her that this woman was just as wary of the guards as the rest of the slums.

Koda took a few steps further until she was standing on the ground in front of the humble building. A soft, sandy colored tail flickered out from under her hair and rested against her left wrist. The blonde's right hand slid into her pocket to grip one of the lighter credit bars. She tossed it up on the porch at the woman's feet.

With a laugh in her voice, she spoke up to the woman. "You won't call the guards. They'll start asking you questions on why I came over here. What would happen if they found some of these bars under your mat? The small takes as of late were taking a toll on Koda's patience and the coyote was just as irritated. Her equally dark gaze had a glowering strength, frustrated at herself and this other woman.

"You won't call the guards. They'll start asking you questions on why I came over here. What would happen if they found some of these bars under your mat?" The threat was apparant, and Kathryn blinked pitifully. "You... you wouldn't!" she cried, sinking to her knees in defeat. The thief was clever and merciless, Kathryn figured. There was absolutely no way to stop her...

Unless I take things into my own hands... she quietly thought, peering up at the coyote Meld. She studied the figure and wondered... maybe of she unexpectedly launched herself at the thief. Something was telling her not to, but the temptation was irresistable. Kathryn gritted her teeth; it was now her never. It was her opportunity.

Letting out a short battle cry, Kathryn leaped forward and grabbed at the thief's legs, attempting to knock her down...

Jude Galdrin had spent his day out for once. Normally he was caught somewhere within the Hotel HQ, but today he needed to get out. It wasn't smart in his position with the guards and it wasn't for anything overly important, but it was definitely something he needed. Fresh air, clear skies, nice breeze, it was a good day to take a walk anyhow. The crowds were all but settled, though. Around the heart of the strip people pulsed, getting to wherever it was they needed getting to and taking no heed on those they trampled in getting there. It really was a crowd of animals. Jude passed all this, reaching the less populated shops and soon homes in a few good shoves and a squeeze.

The cheetah cross would have kept going, just walked until he felt like heading home. He would have watched all the pitiful houses go by and then looped back around, but something caught his eye. Two females, one light and one dark haired, seemed to be caught in some sort of argument. The dark-haired one launched herself at the other after crouching down low, seemingly in surrender of some sort.
"Clever," he muttered to himself quietly.

The man quickly hid himself. Perhaps it was barbaric to want to spy on this fight, to be contemplating which one to root for, but it seemed as good as any a way to pass the time. Golden eyes, slit against the sun, peered out past the corner of the hut across the small street from the porch the dark one had leaped from.

A pair of light-blue eyes stared down at the sidewalk as a pair of feet led a corpse down the granite. His ears flicked as the wind blew at them, but his tail gracefully soared behind him. His feet were guiding him slowly as he put his hands in his pockets, which made him smile softly.

Pockets; the name given to him had always completely irritated his thoughts, but he decided against his mind's authority and just went with it. Every now and then, someone would walk by him and say, "Sup," followed by the ingenious word, "Pockets." He looked up; his white hair glistened in the sun. His footsteps froze in their tracks, but his eyes were able to blink.

A male was standing by a dark wall, looming over the corner and watching the two women fight. If Pockets was able to laugh, then he would at this point. But all he did was continue to walk and finally pass by the male. He managed to take a glance at the male, and his features flashed in front of his eyes: blond, tattoo-looking marks on his face, soft eyes, and sharp fingernails.

"If you take a moment to realize people can see you, then you'll be able to find a better spot to overlook a cat fight," was all he said as he walked away.

Throughly surprised, Koda stumbled backwards, the woman latched onto her legs. Her coyote fought through and snarled as she writhed on the ground trying to loosen the other's hold on her. The blonde reached for the dark strands of hair that were quickly becoming tangled between their bodies with the intention to pull on them sharply, just like her own. A thought occurred to her as she did though. Her pride and joy was going to be ruined over a meaningless scrap with another peasant such as herself!

Koda's emotions snapped in the struggle and her quiet, kind usual self pushed into the forefront of her actions. Breathless, she tried to speak while protecting herself from the other woman's talons. "I ... wasn't going to..." Koda panted here and there, trying to make her voice just barely heard by her assailant.

"Do it unless you really did call the guards!" With a last test of strength, the coyote-woman pushed the other's shoulders, hoping to force her off.

Jude cocked an eyebrow at the boy who had felt the need to open his mouth. He seemed familiar, though only vaguely. "I'm not hiding from people though, am I?" he said almost sarcastically, "I'm hiding from them." The blond nodded towards the two, still in a tussle of dirt and limbs and hair. The familiar boy walked off without so much as another word.

Jude stroked the sides of his nose, the black marks, as he so often did. It had become somewhat of a habit lately. The boy made him think though. He may not have considered that you don't have to hide from everyone as long as you hide from those you need hiding from, but creeping around watching fights wasn't exactly. . .un-suspicious either. Or rather, odd would have been a better word than suspicious, but either way, he hadn't considered. The boy was out of sight by now, down the road somewhere probably. Who knows. Jude didn't care either, it was back to the fight.

His head snapped back to front, eyes searching the two. 'Don't say anything about guards,' he thought to himself. Guards weren't something they needed right now, it wasn't something he needed right now. So it was either move away from the scene, or
"There's no need to do that," he said running over quickly and trying to rip the two apart. "It won't get you anywhere," he continued, struggling a bit to pull them apart.

Rena had been wandering the streets of the slums for what felt like forever just to kill time. The streets were bustling and busy like everyday, Although it was the Slums there was good food in the markets here. She let out a sigh. She was in the mood for something sweet , but she had no money. Disappointing eh?.. There was always pick pocketing someone in the bustling crowd, but then there were the guards. She had never once been caught in the many times before she had pick pocketed someone and even pulled off one of her crazy yet funny pranks, but she felt the need not to risk it. Rena let another sigh escape her lips as she slid her hands into the pockets of her jacket. Her golden eyes wandered about, trying to see if any of her fellow rebels were hanging around. From time to time she would get lonely and hang out with her rebel friends, but she still thought she was better off alone. It was probably because she alone most of her life until she came to this city.

Her tail swayed back and forth and she continued to walk up the bustling street. No one seemed familiar.. At all. Of course they were all strangers. Rena was getting bored of walking. She walked a little bit further until coming to stop. Up ahead she saw two male figures, somewhat familiar. Rebels she may have met some time in the hotel they always met at. Her ears twitched slightly.. She may have been imagining things, but they did look a bit familiar.

The thief's words made Kathryn gasp. She really didn't trust the girl that she was tangled with, but... oh, everything was just too contradicting for her! Kathryn was about to unlatch herself when a strange blonde-haired male cut in and did it for her. "There's no need to do that. It won't get you anywhere."

Strangely, Kathryn felt that the male was correct, and loosened her grip. She was still baffled and angry, however, as she stared at the one who had pick-pocketed the two innocent ladies.

Kathryn winced. Innocent... again. How could Kathryn know that the ladies were innocent? Either way, that girl still stole, and that's against the law! Kathryn crossed her arms and shot a sharp glare at the one who had threatened to but the bars under her mat...

The distrustful scent of cat filled her nostrils and Koda almost growled at the blond man that helped break them apart. Unfortunately, he had a point. Fighting would just call the guards' attention to them and it was bad for all of them. The guards were mean and even more dishonest than she.

Sliding up from the dusty ground, Koda offered her hand in a truce to the brunette. The other hand brushed through her hair, finding all the little tangles and knots in the blonde strands. The glare startled her a bit even though it shouldn't have.

Kathryn's glare softened as the blonde held out her hand, probably for a truce. She sighed and nodded, holding out hers in turn. After the shake of hands, Kathryn blinked and stood up higher, stretching her arms far above her head; then she let them down and narrowed her eyes.

The awkward silence was making Kathryn uncomfortable, so she mumbled, "What's your name? I'm Kathryn..." The girl was feeling even more uncomfortable sharing her name with the strangers, but she knew that it might make them a bit... friendlier. Who knew? Maybe they could become buddies or something...

Kathryn highly doubted that as she stared at them. She was feeling very cross...

Pockets' hands twitched as his tail swiftly moved from left to right. He turned his head to the side and his light blue eye targeted the group. He sighed softly as his body turned to his head's position, and he looked at the ground. none of my business, he thought, then sat down on the curve and closed his eyes.

His brows narrowed as he struggled to concentrate on silence. A growl emerged from his throat and he opened his eyes, standing up quickly with his hands morphing to fists. Two guards were standing in front of him, their heads cocked and their eyes focused on him with the smiles of the demons below; their hands crossed their chests, and their feet stood buried in the granite.

"Look what we have here!" One of the guards chanted," A rat from the infirmary, eating off the dead, but afraid of the living."

Pockets' eyes were focused in front of him, almost as though he was staring past the two guards. His lips twitched a bit, and so did his dog-like ears before they folded back. He kept a straight face, though, but managed not to jump on the guards.

"Maxy, Maxy, Maxy," The other guard shook his head before grabbing Pockets' backpack. He pulled out two bottles of Jager and smirked deviously," Again, eh? You know you're too young to drink!"

Pockets' position shifted as his gaze finally rested upon the guards. He managed to audibly growl, but all the guards did was laugh and taunt him. After a while of teasing him, One of the guards' fist sped forward and hit Pockets in the gut. As he winced in pain, the guard uppercut him in the face. Pockets tumbled back and landed backwards onto the pavement.

"We'll let you pass this time, runt," The first guard barked," Next time, you'll be going to the electric chair."

As the guards walked away, laughing in their own puddle of disgust, Pockets managed to sit up against a rock and wipe the blood off the corner of his mouth. His ears still lay flat against his soft, white hair. He put his arms around his knees and his head in his lap, then looked forward with soulless eyes.

Rena made to the end of the street, but something caught her eye. She saw two guards beating a wolf like herself. She watched with her golden eyes as the two walked off laughing and the boy picked himself up off the ground and took a seat on a rock. She looked a bit closer and noticed he looked rather familiar too. A rebel as well. "Those assholes.." she sighed. Her twitched slightly as she approached the hurt male. "You okay?" she questioned, seeing his soulless eyes. She had the urge to pull of one of her crazy immature pranks on those two , but this wasn't time. She also wondered why they did what they did to him. Rena simply relaxed herself and waited for the males answer. She examined him a bit. He looked older then her by a few years but couldn't tell by how many exactly. He also had a distinct smell that those melded with wolves carried. But she couldn't tell the breed of wolf he was. She herself didn't know what breed she was. Only that it was a kind of black wolf.

A soft sigh escaped her lips. "Annoying guards.." she uttered, her ears twitching slightly. Although the guards were annoying they were really fun to pull pranks on. They always seem to overreact whenever she drops a balloon full of expired mayo. It was quite amusing to watch.
