Welcome to my roleplay. It is of a time when predators - especially wolves, foxes, hybrids, coyotes - were hunted down to the point when they all had to "live" at night. When one battle could mean the beginning or end for all of them. Still interested? Read on....

I'm waiting for the night to fall I know that it will save us all When everything's dark Keeps us from the stark reality I'm waiting for the night to fall When everything is bearable And there in the still All that you feel is tranquillity There is a star in the sky Guiding my way with its light And in the glow of the moon Know my deliverance will come soon I'm waiting for the night to fall I know that it will save us all When everything's dark Keeps us from the stark reality I'm waiting for the night to fall When everything is bearable And there in the still All that you feel is tranquillity There is a sound in the calm Someone is coming to harm I press my hands to my ears It's easier here just to forget fear And when I squinted The world seemed rose-tinted And angels appeared to descend To my surprise With half-closed eyes Things looked even better Than when they were open Been waiting for the night to fall I knew that it would save us all Now everything's dark Keeps us from the stark reality Been waiting for the night to fall Now everything is bearable And here in the still All that you feel is tranquility

Long ago, animals ruled over the lands. Predator, prey, scavengers, all lived together in balance. Of course there were conflicts and bad seasons, but everything managed to end up right again. That was before the humans came. They tore apart the land, killed mercilessly, and took over. Any animal caught within human sight was killed on the spot. The lucky ones were captured, forced to work and kill for the humans. Soon some of the animals joined the humans, protecting and killing for them, preferring a life of servitude than that of hiding. The rest, though, remained hidden, biding their time. This is when only predators can save the lands, the prey too frightened, weak, or scarce to do anything. When only the cover of night brings some security. It is time for the canines - wolves, foxes, dogs, coyotes, and hybrids - to take back what had been and shall always belong to the animals!

Rules!! 1. Follow the Gaia TOS and the guild's rules 2. Romance and violence is allowed, but only up to PG-13. Take cyberring to the pms, if you must. 3. No godmodding, flamming, auto-hitting...Anything along those is looked down upon in this roleplay. 4. Don't kill another person's character without their permission and mine. 5. Post all of your profiles in the proper forum. Put "I'm Waiting for Night to Fall" somewhere in white in your profile post. 6. This a semi-literate to literate roleplay. So more than 3 sentences, please (non-dialogue). Post in third person only. I don't care if it's past or present. 7. When your character talks put them in "Text". Don't use *Text* for action. 8. Use ((Text)), {{Text}}, [[Text]], or IITextII when speaking out of character. 9. NO chat or Im speak or anything like that. It's painful to read and decipher. 10. Please be active and post. Don't join and never make an appearance. 11. Be respectful to other gaians. Don't take other characters' actions literally. We're all decent and nice people right? 12. There is no limit to how many characters you can have, but please be able to manage all the ones you control. Please have a variety though. Not all loners, high-ranking canines, and the like. 13. I'm god in this roleplay, what I say goes. Rules can be changed/modified as I see fit. 14. If you read all of the rules, highlight this post for further instructions before you post.

Position ExplanationsAlphas: These are the two canines, life-mated, who lead the pack. They make all of the decisions, bear most - if not all - of the pups, and are the first to line of defense or attack. Neither has more power, but they come with their own quirks. The female is the often the best strategist, while the male is usually the strongest. The female knows about pups and their care, and the male knows about hunting and training.
Betas: They are the second-in-command. They are often mated, but in some cases aren't. If they are not mated, a beta can be mated with a canine of "lower" ranking, but it must be within the pack. They help with organization and order within the pack. When the alphas are both sick, retired, or killed/dead, the betas replace them until a new one/pair is/are chosen. Neither has more skill than the other, in general, which allows them to hold the rank.
Healer(s): These are the canines with experience with herbs. They have a lot of knowledge, usually obtained through the healer before or through trail-and-error in extreme cases. A pack without a healer has to be careful, since wounds would most likely take longer to heal.
Hunters: These are the "average" pack members. They don't have any special ranking. Their only jobs are to hunt for the pack, mark the territory, and fend off any intruders. Although the alphas and betas may join, it is the main priority of these canines.
Elders: These are the oldest canines of the pack. They have seen many battles and lived long, generally healthy lives. Sometimes they are handicapped in some form, which can put any age canine into this rank. They are often the kindest or the meanest of the pack. They require attention for their frail bodies, but are still able bodied enough to not need too much extra care. They are also the best story tellers.
Omega(s): These canines have the lowest rank. Any new canines, apart from pups, are put into this rank. They are the first to be blamed, most often, and are the last to feed or get care. These canines are often too submissive for any other rank and can get bullied because of that.
Pups: They are the youngest canines in a pack. Although not the lowest rank, they are often too young to hold their own position. They are loved by all the pack, since they brings new life and joy. They are the first to eat, apart from the alphas. A pup is still a pup until 1 year of age.
Loners: These can be canines who have left their home and are wandering on their own or can be ones who were kicked out of their home. They can either be fierce or kind. Packs often chase them from the territory, since it brings competition for food and danger to the pack. Sometimes, though, a lucky few are welcomed to join a pack.
Human Owned: These could be canines who were bred to work for humans, have been captured and forced to work for the humans, or animals used to bait fighting/hunting/tracking canines. Some plot to try and leave, some attempt to join this rank, and some stay where they are - happy with the way things are when owned.

SeasonCurrently it is transitioning from winter to spring. The snow is still falling, but it is melting quicker. The nights are chilly, while the days vary from mild to cold. Strong winds and heavy rain is common around now.

Silently a black figure emerged from a hole in the earth. After shaking out her fur, the creature climbed the outcrop that her den was burrowed in. From there, she watched the surrounding areas. The sun was setting, bringing on the darkness that her pack had come to cherish. It was when they could be free, no interference from those pesky vermin in the human place. Narrowing her eyes, the female could make out the shapes of the dogs and their humans heading back. Some carried wood or prey, others walked back empty handed. Her lips curled in anger. It was they who drove her pack to live like scared mice, coming out only when the coast was clear.
Lifting his head, Shahu heard his sister get up. Stretching, the male followed the female out and into the darkening lands. Instead of going up the outcrop, though, he sat down below. That was her spot, one reserved for the alpha. It showed rank and allowed them to think and survey the lands.
Dagger patrolled the town. Everyone was heading back in to get away from the forest at night. The large male had every canine report before they turned in. He'd need to know as much as possible, since the wolves would be expecting a suprise quite soon.

Kita sat in the front of the garden planted in a small town on the edge of a forest with a river running through it. She silently listened the breeze wave through her fur and the trees bristle their leaves. Hearing the faint calls of her elderly master from within she bolted up and walked in through the door.

Alia got up from her post and climbed nimbly down the cliff face. She nuzzled her brother in greeting before looking out. "We should patrol before hunting," she murmured. Without looking at the male, the alphess turned and darted into the woods. Her paws whispered over the ground. Even with snow still present, the she-wolf barely made a sound.
Shahu got to his paws. After an affectionate nuzzle from her, the male followed his littermate into the thick trees. This was frequent for them. They had to keep up the patrols and boundary markings since there was only the two of them. Like Alia, his paws were silent as they passed over the earth. Soon the scent of a human's dwelling filled Shahu's nose. With a soft call to the alphess, the male went to investigate. As they neared, he caught a glimpse of a canine going inside.

Kita wagged her tail as she was greeted inside by her human. Master called, must be that she is lonely again... She hung her tongue loosely from her jowls, expressing how happy she was, while her master rubbed her ears for what felt like an hour to her. After a short period of time Kita caught a scent and looked up to her master and whined once before going outside again.

Shahu crouched lower in the undergrowth. The canine had come back out. It was a female who looked wolf, but could very well still be dog. She seemed to have caught their scent, but the male didn't move.
Alia had sat by her brother, also catching the scent of the creature. It was a female wolf that smelled of humans as was bound by a collar. A low growl came from her throat, but only one really focusing or who was close to her could hear it. Through narrowed eyes, the alphess watched to see what the other would do.
