The backyard is thick with trees and lawns, though there is a small hidden hollow that leads to a small lake often used by some of the older students for swimming.

Angel trotted after Richard, looking around the backyard with amazement.

Richard sighed softly. "This little area I found by accident, though I like it; it's atmosphere is very relaxing and, I think, good for meditation," he said softly.

Angel nodded. She still couldn't talk, and when she tried, only a hoarse squeak came out. It is very nice, Angle commented.

Richard sighed as he rubbed her shoulder gently. "You need to loosen up; our pasts haunt us, true, but only if we let them," he said quietly.

I'm trying to loosen up. I could loosen up more if I could actually hear myself out loud, but it seems that my vocal chords are not working. Angel stated.

Richard frowned slightly, touching her throat and noticing she tensed as he did. His fingertips tingled for a moment then... he could feel something seem to loosen up within her throat, as if she'd had some kind of blockage.

Angel coughed, and some unidentable green goo came up. "Ok, Max isn't that bad at cooking," she said hoarsely.

Richard blinked as a flash of memory went through his mind for a second, a scene of a blond girl flying past his window. "That's why I remembered you, Angel; I remember seeing you and the flock, including Max, fly past my window one night," he said softly.

"Really? Wow. That explains the green-blue thing I saw in the window," Angel commented. She remembered that; it was when her, Nudge, Max, and Ari were flying to Paris.

"Whatever happened to that brawny kid? The one with dark brown hair?" Richard said, honestly curious. He'd noticed the kid flew awkwardly, as if unused to it.(He means Ari, to clarify.)

Angel's face darkened. "Gone," she said simply. Angel remebered the battle with all the other mutants, and seeing Jeb cry over Ari, who had died. Not from wound, but simply because he couldn't live forever as an Eraser.

"It happens; happened to my sister too, though I had to watch that b*****d who called himself my father do it," he said softly. He sighed, then let it go, deciding not to burden the young girl with his past. He turned with a slight sweep of his arm at the pristine area. "It's perfect for flight, if you decide to, and I can handle the 'ice rink'," he said softly. He pulled out the pair of boxes he'd carried out with them and revealed the two pairs of ice skates. Hers were white and gold, while his were deep gray and sky blue.

Angel tooke the skated, then sat down and put them on. "It is good for flying; not too many trees to crash into, and enough room to take a running start," she commented, lacing the skates up.

"I won't say anything about that; I don't fly, though I'd like to," he said softly. He didn't mention something that had happened once on a trip to a martial arts tournament he'd been invited to; the plane had gone down, killing the pilot, co-pilot, and his best friend. Surprisingly, he'd walked away without a mark, not even a bruise. He put on his own skates, laying aside his boots; he'd put on a dark blue tee shirt over the bandages he had. He headed for the pond, glancing back at Angel.
