Because the term god mod is widely used, it has acquired many different forms and interpretations. Here, I will list some of them for you, as a guide of what not to do.
This list is subject to expansion as I think of more.
God Mod
We begin our journey with the root. The basic idea of God Modding, is to do something that is in some way impossible.
Auto Hit
Auto hit is the most basic form of God Mod. Basically an auto hit, is making your attack, and without giving the opponent the chance to respond, continuing your action, with the assumption that you hit. Unlike most forms of modding, this is acceptable in certain cases, such as the victim being unable to counter. But you must at all times allow them to react.
Auto Kill
Much like auto hit, auto kill is the act of killing your opponent without giving them the chance to react. This one is also justifiable, but with much more strict requirements.
Auto Dodge
Unlike the other autos, this is not affected by your opponent. Auto dodging is the act of completely ignoring something your opponent did, and making your own attack instead. Simply dodging an attack with no explanation as to how also fits this term. There is no justification for this.
Meta Gaming
Meta gaming is, quite simply, knowing things you should not know. If your opponent is thinking about his next move, and you counter it based on his thoughts, that is meta gaming.
Power Play
Power play is when you take some ability, and stretch it beyond belief, making your power completely unbeatable. A good example of this is the common act of making an attack that cannot be dodged. This is power play. Power play can also be defined as an unbelievable power, something that is just too strong to be controlled.
Auto Action
This would be the act of deciding your opponent's reaction for them. Such as stabbing them, and describing how they scream and grab the wound. Or simply claiming they did something they did not do, and acting as if they had.
Power Boost
Not really a form of god mod, but it does overlap enough to earn a place here. Power boosting is as simple as it sounds. Changing your power level mid fight. I have seen plenty of justified examples of this, and I did not find a single one worthy of it. This is sometimes referred to, jokingly, as "Bankai" simply because it is a sudden power boost, usually gained in a bizarre way.
Regeneration
Some people just don't like to take a hit, and when they do, they don't want to face the consequences. Thus, regeneration was born. Regeneration is simply that, when a person takes a hit, and they come up with some reason or other that their wound heals, usually near instantly. This is most commonly seen with characters that possess some healing ability or other.
Take A Hit
We've all seen this one I'm sure. This is when the person decides that they have dodged long enough, and have to take a hit to keep the modding levels down. However, even though they put down that they took the hit, they don't describe any reaction to it. Instead it is usually followed by an attack of their own. I have actually seen this done with fatal attacks, the person just throws in -Takes the hit- and counters instantly, despite the fact that they should be dead, or in pain at the very least.
Invincibility
The defensive form of power play, this is a character that seems to feel no pain. They can take all the hits they want, fatal or not, and just keep fighting. No matter how strong your character is my friends, having your arm ripped off is very, very, painful. Even a masochist would not want to feel that kind of pain.
