A two story condo, quaint enough for a small family. In the second story there are basically three bedrooms. One is, of course, the master bedroom where John resides. The two bedrooms are more smaller but they are comfy enough. The bedroom on the far corner away from the master bedroom is Angel's bedroom. This room is used during the times when she spends the night or during the holidays when she can't go home. The room inbetween John's room and Angel's is now Kathryn's room. In the first floor there is a room at the far end. Not as big as Angel's and Kathryn's room, but it's cozy. This room is John's office where most of his professional business takes place. He's usually found there most of the day unless he's spending time with his daughter. Going passed the staircase there is the family room with one long couch that goes from one end of the room the other. Across from this couch is the 32" flat screen television. To the left of the family room is the kitchen. In the center of the kitchen is a small island where most of the meals are eaten. It's a cozy place to live, and will always have the welcome aroma of orchids. Just don't forget to take off your shoes before stepping into the house.

Kathryn was sitting upside down on the couch, with her feet hung over the back and her head hung down near the floor as she flipped through the T.V. channels. It was too hot to be outside, and none of her friends were available to run around with, so she had consented to trying to entertain herself inside. This was proving to be more difficult than she had origionally thought. Angel wasn't around too much, and there really wasn't anything on television. To top it all off, her father was still broken up with Hikari. This wasn't putting him in as foul of a mood as it had before, but he still wasn't in the best spirits to put up with Kathryn wanting something 'fun' to do. She was starting to wonder if she should ask permission to go swimming. At least then she'd be doing something. It would also save her from her dad getting after her for 'wasting time.' Of course, she hadn't done this before because she knew he would say she couldn't go until she made her bed, and cleaned her room.

"I don't understand why you're so into not letting me live on my own, Kuya! I'm already eighteen! I'm way over the age to live on my own! Especially old enough not to listen to you!" Angel argued as she followed her cousin down the stairs and into the living room. Ever since the last day of her final year at Hogwarts, Angel has been arguing with her cousin to allow her to finally move out of the house and live on her own. But as always, he says no. She didn't even know why she was even asking his permission to move out when she had the money to rent her own little apartment to herself. And besides, she could also find a place with Nathaniel and just pay half the rent with him.

"Kuya, come on! I'm legal and old enough to live on my own! You've raised me well!" Angel cried out, taking a look over at her bored niece and then turned her attention back to her cousin.

John let out a sigh and turned to look at his cousin. Her hair had grown longer since she had last styled it and her style suddenly went from skinny jeans to shorts, but that probably had to do with the summer. Either way, it was incredible this girl could manage to change her style again. He was surprised she hadn't colored her hair red or some other outrageous color. "I don't care if you're twenty. You're not moving out! I thought you said you wanted to be my intern this upcoming school year?" he argued back then looked over at his daughter. "Kathryn, sit properly," he called out to his daughter then turned to look at Angel.

It wasn't fair. She had only asked John if she could be his intern just so she could see what Transfiguration could do as a career for her. But he was using it as an excuse to keep her in the house. "I'm your intern during the school year! Not the summer! It's not like you're going to give me papers to grade or something! And even if you did, you know I can grade papers and move into my own place at the same time! I'm not a ditzy blonde--no offense, Kat, that didn't apply to you. And besides, I'm already a legal witch so moving my things into an apartment will be a piece of cake."

"I don't care. You're not moving out."

And with that, Angel let out a groan of frustration and marched up to her room, muttering something about probably going to Nathaniel's. John let out a sigh, running a hand through his own growing hair and then made his way to the kitchen where he grabbed himself a water bottle and took a long gulp. This was the one thing he didn't like about his life right now: dealing with teenage girls. Well that and the fact that he hadn't spoken to Hikari in a while now. Shaking his head, he made his way over to the living room and sat next to his daughter. "Anything interesting on the television?" he asked, watching her flip the channels while rubbing his blind eye. Recently, he went back to wearing the eye patch since he cannot see through his left eye again. Lately however, with the stress of dealing with Angel, it has been irritating him.

Up in her room, Angel rummaged through her clothes for something proper to wear. She decided that instead of acting bitter and pouty in the condo, she was going to go out and probably take a walk or head over to Nathaniel's place. Finally, she pulled out a bright strapless summer dress. Pulling off her spaghetti strap and shorts, she slipped into the dress then went over to the mirror to fix her hair.

Kathryn was on her third flip through the channels when she heard voices arguing. She didn't even need to turn her head, or listen in to figure out who it was, or what it was about. It was a week into summer, and her Aunt Angel and father had been going at it the entire time about Angel moving out into her own place. Kathryn didn't see why Angel wanted to move out, but she also couldn't see why her father wouldn't let her. Angel was old enough to make her own choices wasn't she? Then again Kathryn was glad her father was telling Angel no. Kathryn really didn't want Angel to move out. It wasn't that she feared being alone with her father, she actually like it, she just really liked her aunt being there for to talk to. Especially when Kathryn and her father got going at it. Sure this was rare, but it was happening more and more. Kathryn was wanting more freedom to do as she pleased, but her father seemed to be holding her back. Yet another reason she hadn't asked to go swimming yet. She knew he wouldn't like it since she would be going alone.

Kathryn laughed when her father told Angel that she couldn't move out even when she was 20. "Dad, I'm sure that you'll either be sick of her and want her to move out, or she'll be off and married to Nathanial by that time." She wished she hadn't said anything because that drew attention to how she was positioned on the couch. As she was barked at to sit properly she groaned out a "yes dad" and flipped backwards off the couch so that she was in front of it. With that she picked herself up off the floor and sat back down starting to flip through again. This really was boring.

When her father sat down next to her however, Kathryn leaned over so her head was on his shoulder. She might be turning into more of a teenage girl, but she still really loved her dad, and loved to sit with him when she could. Kathryn wasn't as timid and terrified now that she'd been out of the orphanage for a year. At first she'd wondered what it would be like to have the strictest teacher in school as her father, but after she got into all kinds of trouble that first day, and he didn't kill her, she grew more comfortable with it. Upon being asked if there was anything good on, Kathryn laughed, shook her head, and flipped the power button so the T.V. went off. "No, I'm just checking. Nobody is available to play today, and it's too hot to run around. Can I go swimming Dad? I promise I'll be extra careful." She decided not to physically say she would be alone, or that her room was a mess since she figured it would hurt her chances of getting out.

John took a moment to think things over about Kathryn's request to go out to the pool and swim. Since he was living in a gated area, he didn't mind that she go. However, he had a feeling that she was forgetting to tell him something important like how she might be going there alone. After all, she had mentioned that there was no one that would hang out with her. While his good eye stared at the television, his mind thought about it. She was already old enough to know what was right and what was wrong. However, she wasn't old enough to go on her own. Besides, Angel wasn't even allowed to go out alone when she was Kathryn's age. Finally he made a decision. But as he was about to tell her no, Angel came down from her room in a strapless summer dress. A sigh. How he ended up taking care of two teenage girls he'll never know. "Why not go with Angel? I'm sure she doesn't mind going to the pool," he said just as Angel was about to head out the door.

With her hand on the doorknob, Angel turned and looked over at her cousin. She wasn't sure whether she hated him more or if she was whatever. She loved being with Kathryn. However, if things were to go as she hoped they would, Kathryn would definitely end up being a third wheel. And it was not an experience she didn't want her niece to have to endure. However, she loved her niece that she would be willing to compromise. "Kathyrn is old enough to go to the pool on her own. Besides, this is a gated area. No one except for probably wizards will come through this place without having to go through the entrance. And the pool isn't even that far from here. And also, I'm going to hang out with Nate today and I do not want my own niece to end up being a third wheel. That's as bad as social suicide." Her argumetn was a little over the top at the end, but she had to argue that Kathryn being with her and Nathaniel would not be a good idea.

Brow arched up, John looked down at Kathryn then back up at Angel. "I would like it if you looked after Kathryn. Just for an hour or two. Just take her to the pool and she can do what she does while you're there. I'm sure Nathaniel would not mind Kathryn being there. I don't want my daughter being home alone."

It was Angel's turn to raise her brow. "Where are you going?" she asked.

John's gaze looked away from his cousin. "I need to talk to someone. And also get you two something to eat for later," he responded.

Now Angel understood. At least partially. With a scoff and a shake of her head, she took her hand away from the doorknob and went over to Kathryn. "Come on, squirt. We're going to the pool. Now go change into something hot," she said, pulling her niece off the couch and up the stairs. At the middle of the staircase, she pulled out her wand and summoned the house phone into her hand and started to dial Nathaniel's number. She hoped that his mother wouldn't pick up, since apparently the woman still had a problem with her. But as the phone began to ring, Angel hung up and decided on something else.

"All right, now go look hot," Angel jested as she smacked her niece's butt towards her room and then went into hers just as she heard the door close downstairs. John must have left already. In her room, she pulled out a good memory, a very happy memory. Expecto Patronum Her Patronus appeared in front of her. She gave the creature the message she wanted to send then watched it disappear. Once that was settled, she went and dressed into a two piece bikini then put her dress back on.

She then waited outside the hallway for her niece.

Kathryn was sure her dad was saying no when it took him so long to answer. He had probably guessed she would be going alone. Why couldn't she go alone anyways? She was 14 and a big girl. She was able to take care of herself, and she was a good swimmer. To top it off there were life guards at the pool so she definitely wasn't going to drown. She saw Angel come down stairs in the strapless summer dress, and smiled. Her aunt was looking really nice today, but she knew her father wouldn't like it. When her father said that she could go with Angel however her head snapped over. He was going to ruin Angel's afternoon by making Kathryn a tag-a-long? This was low. When angel stated that it would be social suicide Kathryn nodded emphatically. "She's right dad, besides, I can't go tagging along with them like I'm some little kid. Not only would it spoil their day, but I'd never live it down at school that I have to have my aunt babysit me." She knew it wasn't going to work however, and sure enough she wound up with Angel giving in. She guessed it was better than not being able to go period.

When Angel told her to go get changed Kathryn jumped up with a smile. At least she was getting out of the house, and she was pretty sure she'd be able to talk Angel into just letting her be. She was 14 after all. She ran up the stairs, and when Angel swatted her butt she spun and stuck her tongue out at her before going into her room. She heard the door shut downstairs and knew her father had left. She went to her dresser, and pulled out an outfit her father hadn't seen. A light blue tube top, and some short shorts. She threw them onto her bed, before getting into her bikini, and then slipping the shorts and tube top over it. Her hair had grown long, healthy, and beautiful since the adoption, and she quickly brushed it back into a neat pony tail. She grabbed her sunglasses, stuck them on top of her head, slipped into some flip flops, and headed out the door where her aunt was waiting.

Kathryn walked out of the house with Angel and flipped her hair back. "If you really don't want me around I can swim alone. If you just walk me to the pool I won't be lieing when I say that you took me too the pool, and I'll just swim until you come for me." A year ago Kathryn would have never dreamed of saying something like that, let alone doing it. A year ago Kathryn was still half terrified of her father, and scared of being sent back to the orphanage. Now and then her father still scared her, but that was only when he was absolutely livid. She also knew that she wasn't getting sent back to the orphanage. Her father might be strict, but he loved her. That was the reason he was so protect of her, even if it was annoying.

It was hard to really believe what she was seeing. Her niece had definitely grown up. It felt like only yesterday the girl in front of her had been the innocent, shy little girl she had become close friends with. Now? Angel had to do a double take to realize that the blonde beauty in front of her was Kathryn. "Jeez, Kat. I said look hot. Not fine. And you're the one that doubts you'll get yourself a boyfriend," she teased with a giggle and then followed her niece down the steps and out of the house. The heat of the summer really took a toll on her. She had definitely underestimated the weather of England. At the front door, Angel had to pause just to compose herself before having some kind of heat stroke on the spot. But then she quickly closed the door behind her and locked it with the key she had around her neck.

As Kathryn spoke, mentioning how it was okay for her to leave, Angel turned to look down at her niece. It was just so hard to believe that the fourteen year old beauty in front of her was the same girl she had befriended when she was only fifteen. How time seemed to go by so fast for Angel. She scoffed, shaking her head as she wrapped an arm around Kathryn's shoulders and walked with her towards the pool. "As much as I would like to, I'd rather not. This is between us all right? But I'm not a fan of going to his place because his mom like hates me or something. I dunno. But she has had this grudge on me since last summer. But whatever." Angel shrugged it off and continued to walk with her niece.

"And besides, you're fourteen already. Which means I'm getting old. I cannot believe how much you've grown. I swear, I'm going to probably be pulling boys off of you this year. More for the boys' sake than yours if I know your father," Angel had added with a bark of a laugh. At the gate to the pool, she observed the surroundings. It was something that she had learned from John a while back. Always observe the surroundings even if the area is familiar. Once she figured that the area was pretty safe, Angel led Kathryn through the gate and towards a couple of beach chairs. "Anyway, this is actually the first time this summer that we've actually had some aunt-to-niece time together without your father over our shoulders or a boyfriend with us," she added then planted a soft kiss on her niece's forehead. "So let's make it count, yeah?" With a wink, Angel pulled off her summer dress and tossed it onto the beach chair. She then smirked at her niece before running to the pool and jumping in. The water instantly felt good on her perspiring skin.

Kathryn saw the shocked look on Angel's face when she stepped out of her room, and smiled brightly. "Ready?" She had asked, and giggled at Angel's comment about looking 'fine.' She shook her head at the comment of a boyfriend and went slightly red. "Actually Angel, you can't tell my dad this, but I kinda like Harvey Wilkinson. He's a 5th year Ravenclaw though, and he's got his heart set on that robot Ravenclaw girl in his year. The blond one that looks and acts like she's supposed to star in the Russian Ballet." Since Kathryn's confidence had grown she had started paying more attention to others. Kayleigh Ackerman was also in her year, and her house, and best friends with the 'Russian Ballet' blond, so Kathryn learned a bit more about her than the other older students. She had been amazed to find out the girl was from Russia, usually those from Russia went to Durmstrang instead of Hogwarts. Kathryn had shrugged it off however, deciding it wasn't important where the girl was from. "Harvey is really cute though, even if it is kind of silly to think he'll go for someone younger. Yes I'm only a year younger, but sometimes that makes a world of difference. I seriously doubt that Laura will ever even notice him, and maybe he'll come to his senses."

Once the girls got to the pool Kathryn listened to Angel tell her she actually wanted to spend time with her, and smiled. She loved spending time with her aunt. It was so rare these days because she was always off with Nathanial. Kathryn liked Nathanial and all, but she wasn't exactly fond of being that 'third wheel,' especially when it was her aunt and her aunts boyfriend. Usually Kathryn was able to find someone to hang out with however, and if she could convince her father they weren't going to kill or corrupt her, which she was begining to think her father thought was worse, then he'd set her free for the day. It was days everyone was busy that were the killers. Kathryn smiled when Angel jumped into the pool. Kathryn followed suit, but went into a perfect dive. Kathryn hadn't known how to swim a year ago, nobody had ever bothered to teach her. When she spent the summer at her grandmothers however, the cousins went just about every day, and Kathryn loved it. She proved to be a natural, and some of the cousins had been jealous at how gracefully and beautifully she glided through the water with her strokes once she got them down. When Kathryn surfaced she grinned and then splashed Angel with the water before diving back under and speeding off, making sure to kick more water at her.
