Alright, so everywhere you look you will find rules right? Well that is exactly what you are seeing here. This entire thread is dedicated to the rules of this guild. There are lots of things to cover, so this is pretty much going to be your bible on how to not get you into trouble and lose house points. Each post in this thread has a different section to this bible, so make sure you read it all carefully. All of us mods are serious about these rules, and I can assure you that infractions made here will land you in detention with a loss of house points, and possibly get you expelled from Little Hogwarts. Scared? Good! Maybe now you'll read and adhere.

~Guild Rules~

1. Keep the Gaia TOS. The Little Hogwarts staff has worked too hard, and Little Hogwarts has been open too long to have this guild taken from us.

2. Respect everyone in the guild. You don’t like people being rude to you, so don’t be rude to other people. If you have a problem, PM your Head of House or myself, and we’ll try to get it resolved. Of course this also means you are not to complain about decisions made by Mods.

3. Keep everything PG-13 or under. We all have different morals, and we don’t want anyone to be offended, so make sure you keep all posts, siggy’s, and avi’s appropriate, or we will call you out on them.

4. Read all Little Hogwarts Announcements. If there is a new announcement posted, it is meant for you to read to find out what is going on in the guild.

5. Don't post in Announcements. Announcement threads are meant for mods to tell members what is going on in the guild, and we don’t want them cluttered with all sorts of posts. If you have comments, questions, or concerns; you can PM the mod that posted the announcement.

6. Report anything you see wrong immediately. Mods are not super humans, and can’t catch everything. If something is wrong with the guild, or someone is breaking rules, slip a PM to your Head of House or myself, and we’ll get on it.

7. Be active. Everyone has a real life they have to live in, but make sure that you are not keeping others from having fun by not posting, or holding up the role play.

8. Be patient. The Staff at Little Hogwarts are busy, and have lives besides this school, so are not always going to be able to help you in 10 seconds. We’ll get to it as soon as possible.

9. Don’t be afraid to call a Mod out on breaking the rules. If you find a Staff member breaking the rules, PM me and I will take house points from them. If I break rules feel free to PM me as well, and I’ll give you house points and my name will go on the detention list.

10. Don’t godmod without permission. Godmodding is when you control another person’s character, and that ruins the experience for many. If you have permission go ahead, but otherwise, just play your own characters.

11. Don't put your characters in several places. Your character is only one person, and they don’t have time turners, so they can only be in one place at a time.

12. Get your Character Profile accepted before you start to role play. It’s not hard to get characters accepted; we just want to make sure that we mods are aware of all of the characters. The detailed rules for Character Profiles are below.

13. Don't post OOC in an IC thread. We don’t want to clutter the role play threads with Chatter. There are OOC threads in the Room of Requirement, and even one for if you have a comment about the role play. The detailed rules for posting comments about the role play are found below.

14. Make sure you are being literate in your posts. This is a literate guild, and we don’t want people posting things that don’t make sense, are hard to read, or are extremely short and don’t give anyone else anything to work with. The detailed rules for literacy are found below.

15. Don't update your own house points. Mods update each houses house points as they need, and I update the total ones. I’m a Math Major at the University, and I really get annoyed when people screw with my math. You will find the detailed rules for House Points below.

16. Don’t violate your detention. If you’re in detention it’s because you broke the rules, and if you break the rules in detention, you’ll get into even more detention, and it’s a lot easier to get expelled from Little Hogwarts. Details for rules while in detention are found below.

~Profile Guide~
Our school has all sorts of Characters, and this subforum is where you will find a list of all of the students, according to their profiles. Now we have had some trouble with these in the past, and here at Little Hogwarts we are always working on improvement, so we are laying down some ground rules and instructions. Here is a step by step guide on how to make your characters Profiles.

1. Go to the Characters Profiles Subforum. From there you will find an About this Subforum thread. Both in that thread, and in the Rule Book you will find the rules and form to setting up a character profile.

2. If you do not have a character already, make a new post, and if you do, just go into that post, and click ‘create reply.’ Make sure to name the thread “Yourusername’s characters” If it is not labeled like that, you will get a PM from a staff member, asking you to change it. Your first post will not be a character profile, but rather a post in your house color explaining that that thread is for your characters.

3. Once you have made your first post, copy the form found in the Rule Book, and the About this Subforum thread in the Character Profiles subforum. Take that form, and click ‘post reply.’ From there fill out the form, and create your new character.

4. Wait for your character to be approved by a Little Hogwarts Staff member. If it is denied, look over the instructions again, or PM the staff member to figure out what was wrong with it. Once you figure out what was wrong, fix it. Don’t sit there and complain about it. It was denied for a reason, and complaining will just get you into trouble. You will know if it’s been denied or approved by a note in size 7 in the top left hand corner. This note will say whether it was approved, or denied, and it will have a staff members username by it. Do not even try to forge the username. Our staff knows what they accept and don’t, and they will find out.

5. If your profile has gone 1 week and it still hasn’t been approved or denied, PM either your head of house, or LilyHermioneChapman. They will get it looked at as soon as they can.

6. Make sure not to role play with your character until he or she has been approved by a Hogwarts Staff member. If you post with one that hasn’t been approved you will land yourself in detention with a loss of house points.

7. Only Hogwarts staff can be teachers, so unless you are a Hogwarts staff, just make students. Don’t even ask about making teachers.

8. We do not deal with any of the cannon characters, so will not accept profiles that claim to be related to Harry, the founding fathers, and so on. Break all ties from Cannon Characters, so don’t even say they even know each other or you’ll be denied.

9. Members are only allowed a 2 character maximum to start. If you have been keeping up with both characters, and want to make another one, PM Lily and she will decide if she thinks you can handle it.

Here is the form to fill out for Character Profiles.

User Name: (Your username)
Student name: (Student’s full name)
House: (House of student)
Year: (Year student is in at Hogwarts)
Age: (How old your student is)
Description: (Must have visible picture of an actual human. No anime or cartoons will be accepted.)
Blood: (Your characters magic line… muggle born, half blood, pureblood, etc.)
Wand: (Size, wood, and core)

History: (What has your character been through up to this point? Make it full so people will know what you're talking about when you are in the role play field. Must have minimum of 4 sentences if you want it accepted.)

Personality: (What is your character like? How do they act? Help us get to know your character a little bit. Also try to give reason for his or her personality pieces. This is another one that has to have a minimum of 4 sentences to be accepted.)

Pet: (Pets are allowed at Hogwarts, but make sure that it is nothing more than a toad, cat, or owl. Those are the acceptable pets at Hogwarts, and that is all that will be accepted in a character profile.)
Position: (2nd through 7th years are allowed positions on the quidditch team, 5th through 7th years are allowed Prefect Positions, and 7th years are allowed Head Student Positions. If you would like to claim one of these, please PM LilyHermioneChapman asking about them. She will then let you know if it is available. Do not post a position here without Lily’s approval first you’re your character will be denied, and you won’t get the position.
Other: (What ever you think is interesting about your character that you want people to know. Any secrets or anything. Just make sure you explain.)

~OoC in the IC ~

At Little Hogwarts we don’t want to clutter up the role play threads with chatter, so we have long since banned Out of Character comments in the In Character threads. Of course we understand that there are times you really want to say something, and we have arranged that for you with step by step directions. These directions are posted here, and in the thread you make your posts in the Room of Requirement Subforum.

1. Let’s say you really want to tell another Role Player something about their post. Whether it’s a comment, question, or instructions on what’s going on. To do that, you simply go to the OoC in the IC thread, located in the Room of Requirement thread.

2. Once there you make sure you know the rules on how to do it, and you fill out the form given in the 2nd post. Make sure you get all of the information to save confusion.

3. Once you have posted your comment correctly, go back to the thread you were posting in. Edit your post, and place (()) at the bottom left hand corner in size 7 font. This will let whoever reads that post know that you have something to say.

Pretty simple right? The other solution is of course sending an actual PM to whoever you want to talk to if you think this is too much of a bother. This is a system that has worked well for sometime now; courtesy of D i R T i E de-TALES thinking it up.

In case you are still lost, here is an example of a post in a role play thread that the role player had an out of character piece to add:

Example
Kathryn was sitting upside down on the couch, with her feet hung over the back and her head hung down near the floor as she flipped through the T.V. channels. It was too hot to be outside, and none of her friends were available to run around with, so she had consented to trying to entertain herself inside. She was fully aware that she hadn’t so much as touched her summer homework pile in the month she’d been home, but she still wanted nothing to do with it. Summer was a time for just lounging about and doing what you wanted, not sitting and doing homework all day.

(())

So when you see (()) in the bottom of any post, make sure to come right to this thread to see the concern. This thread is not to be abused however, so make sure that you are only posting things worth looking at, or you will be in violation and land yourself in detention, with a loss of house points.

If you have any questions about this whole new OoC system, please feel free to pm LilyHermioneChapman and we’ll make sure to get all of the confusion cleared right up.

~Rules of Literacy~

Little Hogwarts is now a Literate Guild. This is because we are wanting to step up our school a little bit, and make it something to be proud of. We don’t want to inconvienence anyone, but this also means that some of you are going to have to step up your game slightly, and actually work on your posts. Here are the exact rules for how to be literate here at Little Hogwarts.

1. Posts must be a minimum of four sentences long. These sentences must also be complete, and not short, choppy pieces just made to get the length. This is just a minimum, and may go up later, so actually make an effort. You are in a role play to actually post, and you can’t do that if you are making tiny little posts that don’t make sense. It also helps give others role playing with you something to work with. We understand that sometimes people get writers block, and that the role play can’t go forward unless they post, so just do your best. This may mean actually getting some creative juices flowing.

2. This goes for each character you have post. If you have two characters, and you want them to both be in the same post, separate them into two paragraphs. Then make a four sentence post for each character. This should save others from considerable Headache. If you find you don’t have 4 sentences worth of material, you will probably find that it is not important for that time, and you can wait.

3. In addition, posts must have proper grammar. We understand that there are mistakes made. No one is perfect. However, we do not want to see grammatical mistakes every other sentence. Please try to proofread your posts before posting so that others will find it easier to understand. Just doing this one simple thing will save a lot of frustration from posts that were misunderstood.

4. Posts will be formatted down to a size 10 or size 11 font. Posts that are sized down are easier to read and sort through. It also makes the guild look a lot neater; something that we feel will attract roleplayers that expect that kind of format because they post in threads in Barton. If we get more people that are willing to role play, and actually up the literacy rate, then the role play will also become more fun.

5. These rules of literacy are required for both members and moderators alike. Just like all of the other rules, the staff is not exempt, and will be called out on it if they are not being literate. If you see the

6. The moderators of Little Hogwarts reserve the right to edit the rules of literacy at any time as they see fit. Any request to edit the rules must be brought to either LilyHermioneChapman, the guild headmistress, or AthrunsKasemei, Head of Ravenclaw, and literacy overseer.

Here is an example of a minimum requirement post:

If you have any questions, please PM either AthrunsKasemei, or LilyHermioneChapman.

~House Points Guide~

As always, you can get house points both as role players, and as your characters. They do not mix, and you can have characters in houses that are not your own. That is why we have separated the house points between characters and role players.

House points can be gained personally by helping others, and doing things around the guild which are helpful. They can be lost by breaking guild rules. I'm warning you now that it is much easier to lose points than to gain them. For the role players, house points are given and taken by any of the moderators.

Characters can win house points by their achievements, and lose house points by getting into trouble. House points fluctuate a lot more in the character section, both up and down. Characters can be given and taken house points by any of the professors.

Since so much time elapses between Role Play time periods, and it is so hard to earn house points as role players, every time the time period is changed in the guild, all houses will be jumped up 10 points in the character. Each time house points are either given or taken, I will make the change to the house points thread.

~Detention~

Detention in the role play isn't really much since we don't really play out that part of the role play. When the role players get detention however, it can be slightly more serious. When a role player breaks our rules, a moderator will send you an Owl title 'Detention.' Inside that owl you will find the information to why you have detention, how long you have detention, as well as a refresher on what happens during your detention period. Remember that when you are in detention you are not able to participate in any of the activities in the entire dueling club subforum. When detention is given, the role players name will be added to the detention list, along with the dates of their detention. When they are out of detention their name will be taken off the list. It is important to remember that before you enter a duel, you must make sure that neither party has their name on the detention list.

~Consequences~

Alright now that we have gotten through all of that I have just a little more to say. I'm sorry for writing a novel for you all to read, but I do need to get things understood. I'm also a writer so I usually don't know the meaning of keep it short although I try. Anyways, I have put the consequences for rule breaking on the home thread, but here they are again. Keep in mind that any drastic action like banning you from the guild will have to be in agreement with a majority of the mods. Also please understand that these steps go with breaking the same rule over and over.

First offense - A written warning will by owled to you by one of the mods and you will receive 1 week detention

Second offense - 5 points will be deducted from your house and you will receive 2 weeks of detention

Third offense - 10 points will be deducted from your house, you will be put on probation as the staff discusses what should be done and you will have to understand that you are close to being expelled; you will also be given 1 month detention.

Fourth offense - You will be expelled from Hogwarts

*We hold the right to skip any of the steps if the staff believes it is necessary; if it's been awhile between your last offence and it's just small, we may over look the last one depending on which rule it is and how bad the break is.
