Welcome to Astronomy, our class where we study the stars.
PostPosted: Sat Apr 03, 2010 6:58 pm

Welcome to Astronomy. I am your Professor, Hikari Yamamoto. However, you students may just call me Professor Yamamoto. Below is some information about me.

User Name: AthrunsKasemei
Teacher Name: Hikari Yamamoto
House: Hufflepuff
Year: Second Year Teacher: Astronomy
Age: Twenty-One
Description: User Image
Blood: She is half Angel and half human. She is a half blood, gaining magical abilities from the human side of her family. Her wings are not always displayed. She has the ability to call them back into her body at will.
Wand Type: Twelve Inches Long, Cherry Oak, Unicorn Hair
History: Hikari’s fate was decided long before she was born. Her family used to be Angels, belonging to the Heavens with minimal ties to the Earth. Her grandparents were in the hierarchy of the Angel society, and at the time, it would seem that the entire family would stay that way. Their life was going well, and they soon had a daughter, Hikari Yamamoto’s mother.
This was where their family’s angelic legacy ended. Her mother, named Alena , was one of the few Angels that had an increased interest in the human world down on Earth’s surface, more than most Angels usually had. Her interest showed in a young age, and her parents immediately became wary. They knew the consequences of being too attached and involved in the human world were extreme, and as their daughter continued to grow in her addiction to humans, they began to take action. They forbade her to look out on Earth, contained her to the Heavens, and tried to get her mind away from Earth’s surface. The increased prevention methods inacted by her parents only pushed Alena to look into the human world farther, and against her parent’s orders, she snuck down to the Earth’s surface more often. She took things even farther when she hid her wings and actually began walking around in the crowds, observing people as she masqueraded as one of them. She also knew the consequences of her actions if she were to be caught. To Alena’s mistake, she felt as though she would never be caught. With that confidence embedded into her brain, she began interacting even more with the humans, eventually gaining the eye of a Japanese man named Daisuke Yamamoto. They began falling in love with each other, and that was when Alena started losing her guard. She began infatuated with Daisuke, and her parents noticed, as did other Angels. Unknown to Alena, the other Angels began monitoring her every move, and soon she was caught in the act of being in love with a mortal. Her punishment, as Alena knew, was severe. She was banished from the Heavens, never to return again.
Luckily for her, Daisuke took her in, and they lived happily on Earth together, eventually having a girl who they named Hikari. She was obviously, a halfblood between Angel and Human. Her birth is an extremely rare case, since cases of exiled Angels are extremely low. Her parents decided to name their daughter Hikari, because the word is the Japanese translation of ‘light’.
Hikari gained her wings when she was born. Though she had her mother’s angelic traits, her physical aspects were dominated by her father’s Japanese heritage, giving her the black hair and eyes. When she was seven, she began flying, and she gained her magical abilities shortly after. She attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry when she was eleven, and had a few years of nice, plain studying. She always kept her wings hidden at school, afraid of what the other students might say because she was different. That went well for the majority of her years at Hogwarts, though one specific incident changed everything.
In the middle of Hikari’s seventh and final year of school at Hogwarts, she was observing a mock Quidditch match between Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw. Everything seemed to be going well, except for the turn of events that was caused by a bludger deciding to switch its target rider, instead aiming for the Hufflepuff Keeper, catching him unawares. The resulting impact shot the Keeper off of his broom, sending him plummeting down towards the ground. In a split second decision, Hikari leapt off the stands, summoned her wings, and caught the boy midair. As she lowered them both to the ground, her stomach was filled with dread. What were her housemates going to think? What was the school going to think? As her feet touched the ground, she refused to look at the boy she had just saved, bracing herself for ridicule and scorn because she was half angel, half human, or that she was partially a fallen angel. Instead, she was met with acceptance and awe. She was so confused and overwhelmed at being accepted that she broke down crying, happy that her peers had accepted her.
She went out into the Wizarding World as an adult freshly graduated from Hogwarts, confident that she would be able to secure a job and live a happy life as a half breed. There was a mixture of responses to her applications. Some jobs were offered to her. Jobs she applied for were often met with scorn and laughter because she was a half breed. After the attitudes that she had received, she decided that she would return to the only place that she had truly felt accepted…at Hogwarts. She applied for a position as a teacher for Astronomy, and also to lead the new studies of Performance of Magical Arts, since the second was an extra curricular. (Not sure if I can apply for both, since one is an extra curricular and not an actual class. I can change it if necessary) She hopes that this new opportunity will help her to fit in more and for her to gain more friends.
Personality: Hikari is a sweet, kind, and caring person. She never hesitates to help anyone in need. She is determined, and although she shows a happy, cheerful face to most people, she is often sad and confused. She pushes through everything that is thrown at her, though not without emotional damage. She has accepted that not everyone will accept her being the halfblood that she is. However, the remarks about her ancestry from present and past commentators still hurts her, and she is still afraid of being rejected or scorned. To hide her fear, she pretends to have no care in the world.
Pet: A pure black cat with yellow eyes named Yami, which is Japanese for ‘Dark’.
Position: Professor of Astronomy and Performance of the Magical Arts
Other: She wishes that she could play Quidditch, though she has never done so because she was afraid that people would attack her and say her wings were an unfair advantage.

~Kathryn J. Yelsah~

Kathryn entered the astronomy tower slightly out of breath because of the climb. She hadn't had to climb all of these stairs all summer, so it had taken it's toll on her. She slid into one of the seats however. As she looked around she remembered everything that had happened the first day of astronomy last year. She had gotten into serious trouble with Hikari. The woman had even taken off house points finally. Then Kathryn had been forced to go to Transfiguration where she messed up once more by telling Mary Lou to shut her face after her father had ordered everyone to be quiet. That had almost gotten both Kathryn and Mary Lou kicked out of Transfiguration. Thinking about all of this made Kathryn laugh slightly. She had been so worked up she had then skipped Defense, gotten detention, and gotten into even more trouble with her father. All of this flashing through her mind made her realize that the trouble she was in with Brocksby right now wasn't so terrible.

Katie walked into the astronomy tower quietly. Some stuff had come up early this morning so she hadnt been to first or second period and now she would have to play catch up. As best she could anyways. She slid into a seat next to Kathryn and smiled. "Morning Kat. Mary go fly a kite for once?" Katie really didnt care too much about Mary. She thought the girl was selfish rude concieted and loud.

~Mary L. Austin~

Mary walked into the room just as Katie asked Kathryn if she had gone and flown a kite. Mary might not know all the terms they used here in Europe, but she could figure things fairly well, and 'go fly a kite' was not something she knew as kind. Especially coming from Katie Allen. Kathryn wasn't exactly her best friend, but at least that girl knew how to keep her trap shut. Especially when it came to Mary, since Mary didn't back down. Katie on the other hand, Katie wasn't shy, and she wasn't afraid to speak her mind. Pursing her lips, Mary stepped into the classroom making sure that Katie knew she was there. "Morning to you too Allen. I'll tell you what, I'll go fly a kite when you go jump off the roof. How's that sound to you Allen?" Mary stuck her hand as if making a bargain. Katie may freely speak her mind, but Mary herself wasn't one to back down easily either. There was no way she was going to let this loud mouthed sorry piece of birch cloth get the best of her.

She waited for a moment before turning to Kathryn. "You seemed to have turned out alright Yelsah. Hope you have the nerve to match." With that she took a seat deciding it would probably be in her best interest just to ignore both of the girls. Kayleigh would also join their group soon, and then Mary would have no way out. Not that she was afraid of either of the girls. It was just that there were three of them, they were all in Hufflepuff, and nobody was exactly friendly with Mary. Of course she understood why, but at the same time she really didn't care. She didn't really care what people thought about her. She had decided to keep her head low so she didn't get into trouble, but she didn't mean to go out and let these Hufflepuff pansies walk all over her. She was still Mary Austin, and a pure blood at that.

Kathryn laughed when Katie asked if Mary had gone to fly a kite. She had been about to with an 'I wish' when she heard something behind her. Seeing the Slytherin in question she shook her head. "That answer your question Katie?" With Angel teaching instead of her strict father, it had lightened her mood. She wasn't as worried as she had been after getting into trouble in Divination, so she had a bit more backbone than she normally would have. When Hikari finally came in, she would be respectful, but right now she really wasn't about to bend to the will of this two faced, good for nothing Mary Austin. No matter how big the girl thought she was. "Katie will never jump off the roof Austin, so you back off and take your seat." When she heard the bit about Mary hoping Kathryn had the nerve to match her looks she smiled. "I believe I do Austin. Lets hope it doesn't lead to anything we'll wind up regretting like it has in the past."

Katie listened to Mary and couldnt help but let out a bark of laughter. "You really think Im going to bargain with you Austin? Youd never hold up your end. Im not stupid Austin." Katie pulled out her notebook she had sewn together with scrap parchment and started doodling. She had tendency to do that when she was bored. It was much harder to do it with a quill and ink but she maneged nicly. She actually liked the chalenge, and she had gotten quite good at it. "You know Austin I hear tell there is another transfer slytherin girl in 5th year. Maybe shell be willing to put up with you.

Kayleigh Ackerman

Kayleigh sat quietly at her desk, listening in amusement at the insults that were passing from Kathryn and Katie Allen to Mary Austin. Kayleigh would've piped up with an insult of her own, but since Mary had said nothing bad about her, she kept her mouth shut to avoid a problem. Kayleigh was known for trying to stop a problem at the last possible moment that she had created herself, so she had since learned that if she wasn't being threatened or insulted directly, there was no need to pick a fight. Kayleigh heard Katie's comment about the new transfer Slytherin, and not being able to help herself, she turned to Katie and asked, "Really? There's a new fifth year in Slytherin? Do you know where she transfered from?"

Kathryn shook her head as Katie and Mary continued going at it. She sat down and started reading the chapter they had been assigned in Divination so that she could knock out as much homework as she could. When Katie mentioned the new Slytherin however he head popped up. She looked over at Kayliegh when she asked about her and looked at her plainly. "My dad says that she's that 5th year Robot Ravenclaws Twin sister. She's just transferred from Durmstrang out in Russia just like her sister. That's all my dad knew though. Have either of you heard anything? Kayleigh, you're pretty good friends with the robot, has she said anything to you?" Kathryn knew it wasn't nice to refer to the girl as 'the robot' but she really didn't know her name, and she didn't like calling her 'small 5th year' or something like that. She'd also heard people call her 'the statue' and other things Kathryn would dare repeating because she knew her father wouldn't approve.
