 Castle In The Shadows
The Castle In The Shadows is the Heartless' base of operations in the Realm of Darkness. Though large and extravagant, it possesses hundreds of rooms and corridors that seem to never end, it's outside appearance reflects that it is worn down and very old. The castle itself is actually a living Heartless and seems to have a mind of it's own. It is steeped in eternal night, with a view of Kingdom Hearts as it's moon being the only outside source of illumination.

The source, high heeled boots adorning the legs of this Castle's queen. She was dressed in a loose white dress. Its hood hung off her shoulders and brushed against the hem of her dress with each planned step. The hem itself touched ever so below her hind end.
This particular hallway had the floor of a chess board. The large black and white squares reached as far as the eye could see. And then some. Statues of chess pieces dotted the walls and lined the high arched windows.
Maze paused in front of one of those windows and stared out with her hands folded. The Queen leaned against an ivory rook. Upon her head perched a glittering black ice crown that she herself had fashioned. A simple commodity that she found fitting. It sat at a tilt upon her red hair. And even in the light her hair seemed to glow like flames and her electric blue eyes dazzled even brighter.』┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉ Heartless. Queen. ♛

  XXXXXSuddenly a void of darkness open up from behind the Queen. As if something were going to reach out and grab her. Yet it was the opposite as Cid walks out of the void which his arms folded. "I knew I would find you hear, such a prefect place for someone with such a dark heart. Business was good today, seen some heartless I never knew of. Maybe as King I am slacking, then again everyone is a heartless in my eyes. The bonds we all share seem to do so much more. In fact I even talked to one of the mighty keyblade master, yet I couldn't think of a plan." Cid laughs, as he twist mind never seem settle. Even looking at Maze he was fond of her, yet at the same time puzzle by her well being.
She could have been more cold heart then he was, yet Cid was one with darkness since birth.

Her body remained as it was, resting a shoulder to the pearly white rook. Though her head turned to look at Cid as the King spoke. His twisted mind always seemed to flow on. Strange for a heartless to laugh, at least to her. Emotions were not something that graced her, not often. And a rare occasion something like a fleeting memory of a feeling bubbles up. But nothing now moved her to that point.
"I suppose this a fitting place for me." Maze turned her head to look back outside. She had a thick voice, it oozed like honey from her lips. "A chance meeting with a keyblade master. I am sure he was not too pleased to meet you, Cid." Though emotionless as she was, Maze did feel a connection to this dark King. Most likely due to the loyalty she had for him out of her own self interest.』 ┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉ Heartless. Queen. ♛

XXXXX"Everyone is please to see me, I am the balance to their dreams. The one the deem as evil and taker of hearts. Though I don't really do much, I simply speak the truth but then again you already know that." Cid said, as he walk closer to her and held her from behind. It only seem mutual, deep down or within his twisted mind.
"I wonder you never ask to see me outside of this suit of armor. You think if you did, my appearance as King would not be the same." Cid ask, as he seem curious about himself. Though deep down Cid was testing her. He tested everyone's loyalty to only see where they fit withing his plans. Even if they weren't heartless, humans seem to get attach to the simplest things. If they can't touch it physically, its not real, if they can't become it, it no longer appeals.......
Amazingly Cid did care about a few things, for they are the key to this endless cycle of events.

To her their relation was out of business, but she didn't shy or halt him from acting in such ways. It caused no harm or threatened her exsistance. "The truth can be hard on the ears of wild things, no matter how easily it flows from the mouth. So they title you, and myself, as evil."
The claw of her thimble tapped against the metal of his arm, "Do you really think my thoughts to be so? I don't ask, because I do not wonder. You will reveal your face to my eyes, if you ever find it necessary." Her eyes traced the pattern of the window panes, "Be your head covered by metal or not, your status remains the same. XXXXX"Huummm I think its the suit" Cid joke with her, as he too daze upon the dark sides of the land. "The whole has seem to forgotten you, you should show them what your capable of once more. Then again its not the world, but myself. Your one of my hobbies to study. The cold hearten craft which you perform so well excites me, as if a tiger and dragon could really fight." Cid explains as he muse embracing her with passion. Though she wouldn't know the difference.
Cid wonder if it were possible to feel such a way. Did light in her heart remain, or was it the mighty sin of lust. Then again he really didn't care, Cid felt all emotions at once, which lead him to be so cold and twisted. His tone of voice was always calm and peaceful. His raw power and physical strength spoke otherwise. It was safe to say a scientist could have a field trip in his mind.
"The day you see me face, is the day you marry me. Just know right now I am incomplete in many different ways, a dark secret which many don't know. Yet I bet if everyone did, they would try to kill me." Cid chatted, still holding on to her. Her touch was rather warm upon his armor.

The sound flapping wings are suddenly heard. If the two were to look up they would notice a black crow circling high above them. A precious child of the Heartless Vanity....perhaps gone astray or maybe a messenger to signal the appending arrival of the Heartless himself. The crow landed next to Cid and cawed loudly. Confirming its presence.

By their feet formed up minatures of a dragon and a tiger, their bodies icy. They danced about in combat. The sound of a glacier grating on itself rung in the air everytime their clawing and tearing limbs met. Maybe Maze did hold lust in her, blood lust. The two ice creatures continued their tango as they ripped each other apart. His embrace shifted slightly, he held her closer. But she did not think anything of it.
Finally the minature slaughter ended, both creatures dead and began to melt. Their single order finished. It was then again that she spoke. "Saddening to think you have forgotten my devious art." Of course the Queen felt no remorse, none of it was expressed. Her tone remained ever unchanged. Cold and icy. If it was possible her words would fog in the warmer air of the hall.
"Marriage. Is not in my interest." Maze said rather bluntly. Her mind, most likely would not change for a while if at all. It would be another attachment to him. Something she did not think was wise at the time. Another emotional string that would he would place to her. To be frank, it would be a rather unothorodox matrimony.
Above came the flapping of wings. Maze did not acknowledge it then. But as it landed and squaked hideously she gave it a side glance. It was not meant for her and so her gaze returned to the shrouded landscape.』 ┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉ Heartless. Queen. ♛

XXXXXCid sigh deeply as he then took off his helmet and threw it aside. In the dark shades you could seem eyes of amber, and jet black spiky hair. Oddly enough he was not sweating in such a suit. His eyes then dart over to the crow, as if the pierce a hole right through its brains. Closing his eyes to blink, his right hand quickly lash out with lightning.
The result was Cid killing the very heartless bird Vanity creates. "You better not disappoint me Vanity, for its not you who gets to watch my shadow......." Cid said in a cold tone. Then looking back over at Maze his eyes had not change, for it seem she forgot his cold true nature.
"You don't get to object, if its your interest our not, you feed off of me. Without me your life would be empty, as well as the dreams of the keyblade wielders. They do my bidding and you lead them on seductively. I have not forgotten a thing Maze, when you became a heartless, when it was I who pick you for a bigger role, and so forth." Cid said so coldly, but he was really playing with her. It seem she love this side of him much more then hid quiet killer mood.
Turning her body about Cid then look into her heartless eyes. If see too look him in the eyes she would be able to tell he was incomplete, that something was missing, or out of place. Was this the reason he were so dark, so pure and evil? "You maybe ice cold, but you play with fire to get burnt." Cid adds, before kissing her smoothly on the lips for a few seconds. A sinister kiss would be the only thing you would understand, that Cid always got his way no matter what. Pulling back from the kiss the moon light flash across his face, showing he indeed had human flesh, were their bones too?

Even more so was the clatter of the helmet against the tile ground. The lightning illuminated nearly the entire hall for a split second. She glanced backwards at him then turned to look away after noting his features. His cold voice cut the air like a knife as she remained in her spot.
He was right in his words. He was absolute and if he commanded a wedding, she would follow. Wether she thought it was the best path for herself. Now one wouldn't say she loved the ruling side of him. It was more fitting in her eyes. Preference was the equivalent to love. Suddenly, his hands grasped her arms and promptly spun her one eighty so they were facing each other. He features were now shaded and sillouheted by the light from the window, yet her eyes remained as bright. Their glow peircing his own amber occulli.
His words were right. Something was missing from his features. Somewhere in the wiring of his twisted brain there was a puzzle peice absent. Talking with the King was always a game with fire. Maze had no comment to his words, especially since his lips pressed to her own. Nulling any response she would have had. The baleful kiss did not stir a response from her. It finally broke and Maze was silent for a few seconds before speaking, "You truly have a twisted mind."
The Queen looked upon his human flew, illuminated the lunar light that cast a pale hue over everything. Yet it's hue shifting cover did not seem to affect his own features. Her hands remained folded against her chest, they had not moved once during the whole transaction.』 ┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉┉ Heartless. Queen. ♛

It happens to all heartless, which why shadows cane easily be used by the simplest criminals. I am sure at some point you are gonna wonder why your are here. Though in the end its a fate you can't escape, you love the darkness, and I love you"
Cid said lets go of her arms, to simply walk over to his helmet and pick it up. All which needs to be said without was done. His mission in the realm was done, and he knew that his Queen was down for whatever. Then again he rather not have it any other way. So many dark secrets remains unsaid, yet it was a funny thought knowing the truth. The truth which he never wanted said till the time was right. Cid was at his peak of power, but some remain imperfect, till the time was right all he could do was align the stars..........

It wasn't that she thought nothing of the kiss honestly, for she knew it meant something to him. He had ulterior motives for everything. There was a reason he chose her to be Queen, and as he said, she did not know it. Maze did not feel curiousity as too why. Nor wonder. It was what was keeping her alive.
Her eyes followed him as her walked over to the helmet. "Love" her thick voice suddenly broke out of her silence, "Love is above all the most feeble of emotions. Cid. I love nothing. It is darkness that so desperately loves me." Could it be that by darkness she was aluding to the King himself. XXXXX"Sweetheart I am darkness...............you can't avoid it, you feel my love. My love is not that would warm, but everything negative. Most of all my love is power, darkness is that of might, so saying I don't love you.............well that is already null and void. You most of all should know why I say what I do about darkness. Whom else could turn the wills of good within seconds. By putting someone in danger, I can also grant power to another. The will to protect can be so twist, or a double edge dagger...........by my own hands." Cid said with a big laugh, amaze how it seem Maze almost forgot the roots of it all.
No she could not see what he was thinking, but nothing was so simple with Cid to begin with. "So may I ask, do you love my love?" With much curiosity behind the question Cid leans against the hallway not facing his Queen. It seem that Cid could very well be human, or so he would want you to think, if an award for be extremely dramatic was up, he would win hands down.

I know that Darkness is what has ensnared me and made me what I am. Devoid and free of emotion." Maze traced the detailing on the rook statue for a moment. Her hand dropped to her side and she looked back to Cid.
"This darkness and this 'love' as you are calling it are what makes you the master puppeteer that you are. You pull your strings manipulate." As she spoke Maze crossed over to another chess piece statue, a king made of iron. Her metal thumb covering clinked against it. "Your love, is not the love humans feel and cling to. Your love is ambition, strength, and dark will. And so you ask me, do I love your love. I do not love as a creature of feelings does. If I love at all.”
Maze did not look over to the King of Darkness as moved the pads of her fingers along the cold metal of the statue. “I too have my own instinctive ambition of pure self interest. So my answer is that I have none.” The queen tapped the metal claw to the chess statue. A solid not rang out. “I cannot say yes, nor can I say no.”
