Founded by Queen Dido of Tyre centuries ago, this is the mother city of the Punic Republic after the fall of Tyre to barbarians. A metropolis of impressive size, she is one of the largest cities in the world. Massive walls encircle her and her two huge artificial ports are walled and defended against attack, allowing safe harbor for the 220 ship Punic Navy.

Anything for sale imaginable can be found and purchased in Carthage's bustling markets. Hundreds of stalls, shops, and stores encircle a tall hill and here one can buy, sell or trade even into the early morning hours. Atop the hill at the center of it all, the Castle known as the Byrsa houses the Royal family. Nearby is the Council House where the Autocratic Council decides the polices of the Punic Empire.

The City is divided into four residential wards. The Temple Ward houses the temples, shrines, and churches of many deities. The Theatre Ward is home to actors, writers, and an assortment of other artists and is located, logically enough around the massive Phoenicia Theatre. The Proffesional Ward houses the manufacturing centers of Carthage where weapons, rugs, pillows, and other sundry goods are produced. Mercenary Ward is a rather colorful section of town where most of the Foreign sellswords congregate. There are taverns, sword schools, and brothels located here, all for the use of the Mercenary army of Carthage.

Towers rise up above the houses and shops through out the city, allowing a bird's eye view of Carthage and her environs. On the edge of the city is the Necropolis, a dark place of tragedy and woe which some say is inhabited by wretched souls unable to move on to their final destination.

Beyond the walls are the rich, abundant fields that feed the city and provide a very profitable surplus. Manor houses of Carthage's elite and villages of slaves and farmers dot the spaces between the massive fields.

Highways north and south connect Carthage to her nearest colonies while trade routes curve into the mountains, heading for the wilds ruled by Numidian warriors.
