We're about to read 'A Raisin in the Sun' in school, and yesterday we had t oread this poem beforehand. I was blown away by the power such a simple poem could have.

-

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?

Or fester like a sore-
and then run?

Does it stink like rotten meat?

Or crust and sugar over-
like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?

I love this poem. The first time I read it, I got chills down my spine. So much meaning in such a small thing.

I know exactly what you mean!
It's just like: wow.
Makes you think. And then, I've already wondered that all before, at one point or another. I just didn't think of it in such beautiful terms.
