i've just always wondered if John Lasseter was as nice in real life as he seems when you see him in interviews. maybe you met him?
He's a really cool guy. I always liked seeing what crazy shirt he was going to wear next. But he is the boss and can be kind of a hard a** and perfectionist.
Now, George Lucas... he's just a butt!
blaugh oh man i would pee my pants if i met either one of them. ughhh. i'm so glad that Mr. Lasseter's nice, i mean you're not a hard a** if you're looking for perfection. if anything i think that makes him any cooler.
but i could totally see Lucas being an a**. he seems so full of himself. ha.
Completely and totally full of himself... yes. I mean the man built a 10 foot wall around his house so he could make sure crazed Fans and Paparazzi would be deterred away. Ugh. I mostly had to work with him too which drove me a little crazy.
I got the job out of pure luck! I was a stagecraft student at the local community college. I was building sets for a number of their production and around the middle of the years they put on "Sweeney Todd" (This was before the movie came out btw.) I was asking to run the lights and be an assistant stage manager. There are usually two Stage Managers in a theatre production. I had to deal with both of them! The head Stage Manger who calls the ques from the control room was mean and I did not like him much but I mostly helped out the Stage Manger who directed the actors on stage. She was my best friend and who and I went to high school together so It was easy to just kind of fall into the position of being her assistant. I made sure all the props were in the proper area and that all the actors walk ways and stage was clear.
ANYWAY! David Collins , one of the head sound engineers at Skywalker Ranch, came in as a favor to play Anthony. He had a really good voice! and he also came in to help with the orchestration. He took the Community College Band to Skywalker Ranch to Record them for the Musical. That is one thing nice about George Lucas. He is always willing to help out the local schools. Well David and I met this way and when I eventually moved on from the college and made it into Es'pression College for Digitial Arts in Emeryville. CA I applied for the LucasArts Internship and he recommended me and then bame! got it.
The college I went to was just right down the Street From Pixar and Industrial Light and Magic So Lucas had me going to Pixar more often to help out on Wall-E. I only made a few trips out to Skywalker Ranch. It was a good 4 hours away. But later on in my Internship I was like making that trip everyday!!! Lucas was there often and so was Steven Spielberg because at the time they were working in Indiana Jones 4.
But yeah, I never saw John much but every time I did he called me the Yoda girl. I have a Yoda Backpack I got at Disneyland, very rare, that I always wore. I also was always trying to get him to do to Disneyland with me because he likes that place as much as I do! lol he used to work there at a driver on the Jungle Cruise WAY back in the day.
