Shiny Umbreon (it looks cool, and I like the yellow eyes which stand out) and I used to have a Shiny Froslass too. Also: Shiny Event Pichu from Wifi. <3

Oh, here goes.
Currently own: Electrode, Purugly, Abomasnow, Toxicroak, Empoleon, Crobat, Geodude, Tentacool.
Currently own (Events/other): Red Gyarados x2, Event Pichu x2
Used to own: Floatzel (stolen), Tentacruel (stolen), Tyrogue and Clefable in Crystal. (Save file was corrupted.)
I have a shiny hunter's club in the video game discussion. You guys should check it out if you like shinies. : D

It's really not that uncommon. Many many many people have never seen a shiny. I've seen one in the wild. The rest I've gotten from friends.

Excluding the Gyarados everyone gets and the event Pichu...
Gold: Chico the Nidorino and Sam the Rapidash (before my game committed suicide)
Crystal: Slippy the Poliwag (after my game committed suicide)
Emerald: Kawasaki the Makuhita
Pearl: Snapdragon the Bellsprout (traded to a friend in exchange for his Japanese SS Totodile)
HG: Rubidoux the Rattata
In the 2nd generation, I once ran into a shiny Sneasel but couldn't catch it because the freaking box was full. stressed
