December 28
The sun is shining and the okiya is quiet. Between Umemi-san, Inu-san, and myself, the okiya always seems to be spotless. Inu-san is the new maid. I wonder if Inu-san had only come a bit sooner, then perhaps she would have become the new maiko instead of myself. I almost feel sort of badly about it. It's not that I'm not grateful to Lucya-san for giving me this chance, it's just that I can tell that Inu-san wants it a lot more than I do. After all, I only came here to avoid marriage. But, Lucya-san knows this business much better than myself, so I shall trust her judgement. Even so, if I get the chance, I might mention this.

Oh dear. It seems I've done it agian. I don't know how many journals tried keeping over the years, but I can say that none have them ever lasted for more than a month. I do hope I can manage to keep this one. I'm so forgetful sometimes.
The okiya is still quiet, and still spotless. Though I haven't seen Lucya-san around at all recently, she is supposedly off somewhere attending to business. It's suprising how much presence one woman can hold. I almost couldn't believe that her room was actually her room, because it seemed so empty.
I'm curious to see what my new name will be. When I came here, becoming a maiko, and even more so a geisha, had never crossed my mind. I suppose it should of, considering I was working at an okiya. I will also recieve a kimono soon. I've never actually worn a formal kimono before, so I'll have to be very careful when I'm wearing it.
