Personality:At heart, Kiara is a kind and caring soul; however, in public she puts on a tough front to try and deter others from teasing her about "talking to people who aren't there". She has come to accept her gift, and uses it solely for helping herself and others; never does she seek to bring harm through its use.
History:Kiara was born to a fairly well-to-do merchant family. From the time she was young, she was gifted with spirit-magic; at first, her family considered her seemingly one-sided conversations with apparently nobody to be cute; however, when Kiara turned 6, and was still doing so, they began to suspect something was wrong with her. One day, when they finally demanded to know who it was she thought she was talking to, Kiara replied, "My friend, Rachel! Can't you hear her?"
Appalled, Kiara's parents took her to see a healer; unfortunately, he knew nothing of magic and, naturally, couldn't "cure" her of her habit of talking to spirits. Worried by now that their reputation would be damaged beyond repair by their "insane" child, they abandoned Kiara in the northern mountains. By a brilliant stroke of luck, a healer who was also gifted with spirit-magic happened upon her as she sat crying, learned what had happened, and took her in to educate her about spirit-magic and its "proper" use.
