I thought it would be fun to start a simple word game to practice/learn vocabulary. ^^ Here's how it works: I'll post a word in Japanese. Whoever posts next translates it to English, and posts a word they associate with mine (in Japanese). Kana, Romaji, Kanji, or all three, it doesn't matter.
If you don't know the meaning of the word above, then look it up somewhere AND use the word in a sentence. ^.^ I suppose you could call that a penalty. Hopefully we'll have some fun with word associations while building huge vocabularies! So here goes: ほし
hoshi

SKY
そら は あおい です。
Sora wa aoi desu.
あめ
ame
EDIT TO CORRECT: "aoi" should be "ao" in this sentence, I believe.

WINTER
こおる :: kooru
PS- It might be best to use romaji in addition to kana/kanji, in case someone comes along who doesn't read it yet. If we play long enough and no one has that issue we can always quit using it.

To be able.
Yeah I meant it in a "underage drinking / sex out of wedlock" kind of way. How everyone thinks it's so horrible, and the Japanese use it sometimes to mean that something is not allowed. It was a stretch at best.

Not only do I not know, but my dictionary gives me multiple options, any of which could possibly be correct. I'm going to go with:
real ability
But before I can make a sentence I need the word defined a bit more clearly. Could anyone help with that, please?
