Shizulo Yamine is a boy with a terrible mutation: having cat ears and tail. His family, having been ashamed of this, kept him in a basement his whole life, and they never visited him. To keep him alive, however, they had cut a hole in the basement's ceiling, which was also the floor of a large, dark closet that light never managed to reach, to drop food and water for him.
Shizuko has never seen another human, has never seen sunlight, has never been able to learn to speak, and he doesn't know what anything is. He wouldn't know what a hand was, or what he was in. He would be surprised if he saw anything move!
The son of a family friend, X, is curious about the closet that nobody was allowed to enter, and the basement that nobody could unlock. After figuring out the combination, without anyone knowing, he enters the basement and finds Shizuko, who is extremely terrified of him. X, on the contrary, wants to help him, but how can he do that when the other always scampers away like a frightened mouse?
Will X ever get Shizuko to open up to him? Will he be able to teach the neko boy everything that he missed?Rules♣ No content above PG-13

Kenji had came over to the niebors house and decided to explore since he had nothing to do. He wandered until he found a door and picked the lock opening it, with no bad feelings about it, it was the basement. He turned on a light and saw a small boy about his age with ears and tail. He was curious and cleared his throat as he leaned on the wall to get his attention. The boy waited for the other's reaction as he leaned on the wall and kicked the door shut behind him.

There was a strange and unfamiliar sound, causing Shizuko to scramble to the farthest area from that sound. A sudden pain in his eyes made him look away, and before long it was everywhere! He hid his eyes, not wanting the unfamiliar pain to continue, but he noticed something.
Another thing was in this place, wherever he was. Only one thing registered in his mind: threat.

Kenji saw him scramble away and stepped down the stairs," I'm no harm to you." He said and realized the light was hurting his eyes. He shut the light off and waited for a moment so his eyes ajusted and he walked closer to Shizuko," Are you okay?" He asked concern in his eyes. The boy must be stuck down here... He sighed Typical for this family He glanced at the boy again, he was cute. His ears and tail made him cuter, Kenji blushed a little at this thought and watched the boy for his reaction.

Shizuko flinched when he heard the unfamiliar sounds. His survival instincts were acting up, but he didn't know what to do. Nothing that moved like he did had ever come near him before. His ears twitched, because the strange sound was very loud. It must be another way for the thing to attack.
Now that the source of the pain in his eyes had disappeared, Shizuko looked around for a place to hide. The thing was never here before, so maybe it wouldn't find him if he hid. It was only common sense that made this thought possible.

Kenji frowned and walked up to the wall where the boy was," This family..." He growled before kneeling down and looking at the boy softly putting his hand out carefully waiting for the boy to take it or run away. The boy was not responding to his voice so he didn't talk seeing as it scared him. He shut his eyes. damn family. Keeping this boy cooped up! He should be enjoying the outside world even if he does have ears!He was getting agitated and didn't show it as he opened his eyes again as he smiled at the boy.

Shizuko was utterly petrified when the thing approached. So many strange sounds reached his ears and caused them to tremble. He wanted very much to run, but he was strangely still as stone.
Instinctively, he hissed so to scare the thing away, but to no avail. It stretched out a part of itself to him, as if to grab and soon devour him. He hissed at it again, backing away a little more.

Kenji was taken by surprise and took his hand back as he stood and walked to the stairs sitting down not wanting to harm the boy. He leaned his head on the wall as the door slammed open and he jumped up to see his father," F-father!" He stammered in reply. His father looked at him angerly and they enchanged words before Kenji looked away," I was exploring." His father sighed," Come out soon." Kenji nodded. Yeah right. He thought before he shut the door again and leaned on the wall sighing," Dad is such a pain...." He muttered momentarily forgetting about the other boy that was scared of him.

At hearing the loud sound, Shizuko's ears twitched and twisted. That was only the least of his fears. The pain in his eyes returned, but then he saw another one of them. The thing had called for help! Now there would be no way of escape.
Curling into a protective ball, Shizuko shivered both from cold and fear. He waited for pain that should soon come. Confusion ran through him when he felt nothing, but it was probably a trick being played by the predators.

Kenji snapped his eyes open remebering the boy, he looked over his shoulder and, eyes curious, watched the boy shaking in a ball. He must have gone through a lot... He sat down again leaning on the door as he waited for the kitten, that's what he thought the boy was, to realize he was not a threat and did not wish to harm him in any way.

After a while, Shizuko uncurled, relieved that he wasn't going to be eaten after all. Now there was only the original thing that hadn't left, but was now a distance away. Maybe it was afraid of hissing after all, since it had reacted when he did hiss.
Fear soon turned to curiosity, and Shizuko shakily approached, ready to hiss if it dared try to attack. His ears twitched as they listened for any possible sounds, for the slightest of movements, that would scream danger. Something was pounding in his chest, but he had never noticed until now.

Kenji had his eyes shut and almost drifted off in the darkness but opened his eyes as he saw the boy creeping closer. He moved his hands to his lap, to show he would not hurt him, and leaned his head on the wall smiling. He was tempted to talk but thought it might scare the boy. He locked eyes with the boy, eyes gentle and kind, he heard the boy's heart pounding in his chest and blushed a little as he felt his pounding as well. Why? Who would keep such a c-cute boy locked up like this? He thought to himself as he mentally hit himself I can't fall for someone who I don't even know! He sighed and sat still waiting for the boy to come as close as he chose to or leave.

Finally, Shizuko was right in front of the thing, which didn't seem to plan on hurting him. He stared at the thing's eyes, which were strangely calming him down. His tail swished to one side, then to another while he tried to think of what to do next.
He hissed once more, but not in fear. Rather, it was more like a hesitant and questioning hiss. The thing was probably going to run, though. Hissing once more, Shizuko inched just a little closer to the thing, preparing to back away at any sudden movements or sounds.

Kenji smiled slightly slowly raising his hand as he stopped hearing the boy's hiss. He must not know what I am. He thought before flipping his hand around, palm up, so the boy could take his hand if he wanted. He was not making any sudden movements but was catious to how the other would react. He kept his eyes locked with the boy's calmly and without a threatening gaze. He felt the door move, it couldn't open, and braced his legs since the boy was starting to trust him. He slowly raised his other hand, put some hair behind his ear, and put his hand back down not too fast so the other boy wasn't scared.
