On Saturday morning Portland will try to break the world record for the longest telephone game! We're going to start at the Rose Garden area and try to make it all the way to Pioneer Square. I'm going, and if any of you are interested I say we Gaians should represent!
The event will start at 9:30 AM and is expected to end at around 10:30 AM. All who are interested will meet before the event (8:30 AM - 9:00 AM) at the corner of NW Couch and Naito Parkway.
I will be there at 8:45 AM, wearing my red bandana and my Vietnamese hat; my cell number is 503-960-6307 for those of you who are interested in participating and are having a hard time finding me.
Full details of the even and the purpose behind it are at this web site.

Well, I'll be there, and you guys know what I look like and my cell number, so whoever shows up should be able to get a hold of me.

After a long trip to Seattle and needing to take care of other things at home, don't think I'll be able to make it. Maybe the Sunday meet up????

Whatever you do, you have to tell the next person a simile.

One Gaian showed up, and well ... yeah, hardly anyone showed up. We ended up meandering around in a muddle of logistical compromises and lack of information until finally half of us congealed on Pioneer Square for a phot op and news story with mayor Sam Adams, who looked very much like he should have slept in. Channels two and six covered the story, so you may see something on it tonight at ... uh, whenever the news comes on.
In short, you didn't miss much.

Doesn't really surprise me. For something like this you need to advertise it... Put it in the news, TV ads, the newspapers. The people who were organizing this thing can't simply expect people to happen to accidentally stumble upon a website or what ever they did to try to get word out. If no one knows about it how can people show up? I mean, the one and only place I even heard about it was in this guild's announcement. If I wouldn't have seen that I never would've even known that this "event" was taking place.

Apparently it was planned only a week in advance.
