Three words: Machop beats cow.
Really. There is a kid on the fifth floor of the Goldenrod Department store who'll trade you his female Machop for a common Drowzee that you can find just south of Goldenrod. And being female, that Machop isn't affected by Attract or most of those other moves that depend on messing with the opposite gender.
Being an in-game trade pokemon, it isn't the best for tournaments, but it'll do for Whitney and you can level it up faster than others. Aside from that, any pokemon with a high Attack will do for most of the others in the Gym and Fearow is really great for this. My buterfree's Sleep Powder was still of some good for making the cow snooze before I sent in Machop to slap her silly.
Just watch it using birds or bugs! The cow knows Rollout.
Took me one try.

This was the hardest battle in my life. Harder then in Blackthorn city. Milktank Rollout'd and all my pokemons were defeated. So I brought a lot of super potions and used Hoothoot's Hypnosis and Quilava's Flame wheel.

There must be some prejudice against that Machop. ninja
That's why she's there, to pound the hell out of Miltank. rofl

I used Spinarak, Quilava, and Umbreon mostly. I had a Ratta and Nidoran that i had caught and hadn't removed from my party so i throw them at miltank just to see if they could soften it up. But Miltank took out all my pokemon except Umbreon which even hit by rollout when it was 1 moves in and for 4 moves after didn't get out of green Hp and took out Miltank with no problem.
I only use pokemon discovered Orginally in Johto and Machop is a Kanto pokemon.

Machop is one of the pokemon that has been native to ALL reigons, did you stop and consider that?
Just like Abra, Goldeen, Graveler, Haunter...
Rattata and Nidoran are also first-gen pokemon!!! Yet you had them in your party! mrgreen No complaining about Machop then.....
Look before you leap....
The first generation games had some really lousy trades. At least these games had a few that were useful! mrgreen

Ratta is used for HM and TM field Moves though now i think of it Senret will suit me better. Thanks Ratta will forever remain in a Computer Box all because of you! xd 3nodding Machop is still kanto and i won't hear anymore about it. Besides its seem you like using only female pokemon. stare

Naw. Half my party ends up being male. I just prefer female starters because otherwise they're hard to find, and with starters I prefer not to breed off of Ditto.
The Machop in the trade is always female. That isn't my choice. It's female because that way it can avoid the Attract and Cute Charm Whitney's Gym throws out right and left.
In the old games I always used the Machop to beat her and then stowed it away in a box forever unused. This one stuck around a little longer, because I dared most of the Gyms without a psychic-type Pokemon--I always had Alakazam or Gardevoir! I wanted a different team this time. It was interesting, and different, having a ready-made Machamp around. Definetly not Tournament material though.
As a matter of fact I'm still not currently using one, although some of my team is now traded pokemon from my other games. Ho-oh has Extrasensory which is good enough. Just an in-game team, not for tournaments.
You can define Machop as "Kanto" if you want to...but I don't understand the rattata bit! whee Nidoran was still first encountered loafing around in Kanto too y'know...
Furret, Bidoof, Linoone, and Kingler (and their families) have always been the game "HM slaves". Dump all your HM moves on them, or the majority of them, so you're not clogging up your party. xp

Whitney was for sure my toughest battle. At the time, I had an all-male team, so my physical attacks on Clefairy got the better of 'em with it's Cute Charm. And of course, her Miltank knows Attract, so that didn't help me any. Took me one try to beat her, but it was a very long and drawn out fight. I don't remember the deets unfortunately as that was a long time ago, but I do know my Nidorino was involved. As was my Quilava.
