 Scalera Childrens' Home is a haven to children in need; children who are growing up as social orphans without the nurture and support of a loving family; children who need a place to be and to become.
Scalera, for more than 100 years, has provided a stable, healthy home life built on loving one-to-one relationships. Founded in 1892 by Carter Scalera and associates, the Scalera Home remains committed to helping children achieve their full potential, however scarred or shattered their family background. We here at the Scalera Home are here to heal.So reads the pamphlets and the papers and the sign in front of the tall building. But inside, its' a different story.
Children, of all sizes and ages, stay at the Scalera Home. It's not a bad looking place. There are beds, meals, and even a full medical wing to take care of their every need.
That is, if their need is to be poked and prodded with needles, for the furtherment of research.
What appears to be a cheery, healthy environment for any child; it's really just a cover. What really goes on at the Scalera Home are tests; tests to find new medicines, new cures, new diseases. And most of all, tests to find new strengths.
Strengths unnatural to normal human beings.
Supersoldiers.
The children of the Scalera home are the perfect subjects for these tests. They are the unwanted. The ones that other orphanages could not handle. The ones that nobody is going to look for should they...disappear.

0000000000000000The most recent experiment has been very successful. The combination of Animal and Human DNA has taken and combined. The subject is in stable condition, and doesn't seem to have any physical repercussions. We will monitor behaviour and bodily functions, but for now, it is a success!!

0000000000000000It has taken approximately three days for our subject to awaken. Bodily functions remain normal, however there have been changes in the physical structure of the test subject.
The nails have hardened, as well as sharpened. We have taken to restraining the subject so it does not hurt itself accidentally.
The teeth seem to be changing, with new ones growing beneath the old ones. Incredible. A second loss of teeth, with new ones growing in! They appear to be fangs, though we cannot be certain until they come through. The subject is experiencing mild headaches and jaw pains, but we have taken care of that.

0000000000000000The subject is progressing. They were, indeed, fangs that were growing in. The nails have become claws, and require regular trimming. It seems that the bone structure has become stronger as well, a change we did not anticipate. It seems that the subjects' body is adapting itself to handle the changes brought on by the DNA. We can only wonder what will happen next.

0000000000000000Incredible. The subjects' entire body has strengthened. The senses are enhanced, muscles are developing, and mental functions are off the charts. The brain has tapped into resources we did not know it had! The subject is able to pick up on near unnoticable things, memorize, learn at incredible speeds.
The animal DNA seems to have brought on instincts as well. The subject has developed a strange liking for sniffing everything, as well as marking its' territory. I fear these developments will need to be monitored more closely.

0000000000000000More animalistic urges have developed within the subject. We have found a drug to supress them, but the transformation continues to progress. I fear this has been another failure.

Since the first tests, improvements have been made. They have found that a compatability of sorts must be made between the test subject and the DNA. They have also found a drug that supresses most, if not all of the animalistic urges. The subjects are able to function as normal human beings; and they are working on psycological conditioning to have them under complete control. This is hard, however, as their brains are hyper-functioning, and tapping into reserves only imagined before.
As the subjects progress, they not only pick up strengthened abilities from their animals, but the human portion of their DNA seems to have strengthened as well to handle the change. Their brains have delved deeper, and picked up strengthened abilities of their own.
In short, the subjects have developed psychic abilities.
