 These tunnels have been abandoned for years; who knows what goes on down here now? Rats, live third rails, and darkness reign here. It is possible unfriendly mutants are around as well and other secrets, some that are friendly, others that may not be so friendly...

Scott had let China go ahead to scout the area, though he suspected the area was empty of anything else as he parked the Hummer. Richard sighed as he unbuckled and got out. "So close, yet so far," he muttered.

elaise looked around her as they entered the tunnel before opening her mind to the feelings around her, she gasped as pain washed over her and staggered backwards into jean.
jean put her hand on her back to steady her. " what is it?" she said.
" pain, on overwhellming feeling of pain." she said.

China looked around. A few bare bulbs hung, giving her a timy bit of light. She heard scuttling, and she saw rats. There were whispers of wind from outside. She walked along, making sure not to step on the third rail, which was making a slight vibrating noise. China guessed it was still going. "Hello?" she yelled. After about ten seconds, her echo came back. She walked back to the others, then reported what she had seen. "Not much. There are lots of rats, and the third rail is still going. It's big. Takes about ten seconds for your echo to come back," China said.

Elaise tried to close her mind and shuddered slightly as she followed them " there's something else. a jumble of emotions it seems to be coming from further inside the tunnel." she said looking at richard.
jean looked at her and nodded before following them down the tunnel. looking around her carefully as she walked.

"Wait," China said. "If we all go, whoever's there will suspect something. I'll go ahead." she darted forward, dissapearing in the darkness where the lightbulbs ended. She lowed down, feeling he way along the wall. At one point, it split off in two. China turned back, and ran to the others. "I didn't see anyone," she said.

oh thanks your making me feel better. she thought to richard before smiling at him and tilting her head to one side. i can sense their emotions. it is them she thought to them all as she moved behind richard, her movements slow and deliberate.
jean looked at richard and elaise impressive, they really do work well together. the work well alongside china as well. it seems we may have a new team. she thought to scott as she followed them down the tunnel kicking the rats out of the way as she walked.

"Nobody does," Cyclops said dryly. He kicked aside one rat as it leaped at his ankle, hearing a snap as it met his foot; when it landed it scrabbled around in circles with its back legs unmoving. He grimaced slightly at that. "The rats lessen up around here," Richard said dryly. He flicked one hand as a rat almost as large as the one he'd punted leaped at him, a thin needle no thicker than a pencil lead and no longer than his forefinger hit the rat, apparently paralyzing it instantly.
