I was thinking about the side effects of some of the meds I have been on, Lithium for example.
Lithium kills short term memory. I realized that the loss is pretty much permanent. I was on it for 2 or 3 months. Now, over 2 months after I stopped taking it, I still have no short-term, and I realized my long-term is also shot full of holes. If I'd known this, I never would have taken Lithium. Too much of a loss for me.
That, and Zyprexa. It made me dazed and groggy all day. I didn't think that was worth taking, so I got off that med. About 4 months later, I'm doing just fine.
Demon's thread on Trazadone sounds like the same thing. Is it worth it to be dazed all the time? Do some meds have too many side effects?

I was given meds that messed me up pretty bad, and after a month or two of it, I made my doctor tak eme off them. I would rather be insane and moody than on meds that screw me up. They put me on some calmer meds, and that helped out too. Come to find out they had my dosage wrong for my age. I have been more stable since I dropped out of high school to start homeschooling and got more supportive friends.
