Even in a World of Pure Light, There is a Shadow. And the more light you have, The bigger the shadow is. ---------------------------- The City Of Light is the Purest Region of The Light Side. Unfortuneately, it is too pure to see the darkness that is slowly weedling throughout the ridges of its world. Toma cut the last bit of meat from the carcuss.
His horse was dead, but it had some use still.
His Dad was dead too. Alot of people were dead.
And he knew why. Only he knew why. The shadows were coming.
They were all coming. And Dad was dead, and Horse was dead, and Toma would be dead soon, too. Because the shadows were coming.
Long walk. But if I die, well, saved me the trouble of living, right?
Toma grabbed a promising sitck, quickly cut off the most troublesome branches, and smiled at his walking stick.
A long walk.

"I see it now!!" Megumi screamed as she jumped up on her feet. "You will encounter a great challenge that will come to you in a form of and older man. He will show you what's wrong and what must be fixed. It looks like the problem is within you..." She stared right into the eyes of the woman sitting in front of her. After that sentence there was silence in the room which was covered in deep turquoise drapes. The floor was tiled with light purlple tiles in which many different light colored stones were embeded. Megumi always thought it looked a bit like an inside of a genie bottle. But that was exactly what she liked about it. Something different, something exciting, something...something...that's not pale, pure, and white like the rest of the city. Business here was tough for her. Nobody seemed to pay attention to her skill at fortunetelling. Everyone would go to the priests so they can get blessing for their already perfect souls. Most of her fortunes were laughed at anyways because she would constantly say that there was darkness coming. Nobody believed that since it was the city of light and she didn't know what ithe fortune meant herself.

She stared up at the sky as she steered the milk wagon back into the city. She raised a golden brow. "Funny.... the clouds are grey...." she murmured. She looked to her horses. Pure white, of course. They'd been acting strange all day, and one had even gotten lost back in the forest because it had somehow been spooked. She stopped at the fortune tellers home, always the first stop on the milk route. She took two bottles out of the back and took them to the porch. She turned to leave, but stopped. The woman was being mighty loud today, and she couldn't help but press her ear against the door to listen.

"I really have to go now..." Megumi's client said as she stood up and got ready to leave.
"NO!" Megumi screamed again. "You don't understand it's something horrible! It's coming for you and all the people!!" Megumi covered her face and began sobbing. She was never a strong person. All the fortunes and all the visions she has seen made her scared and alone. It was as if she was in a nightmare. Nobody would believe her. What would she to do now?
"I'm sorry dear..." the woman said as she ran out the door.
Megumi collapsed on the floor and sat there lifelessly.

Toma set camp.
There was still a good five miles ahead of him, and darkness had set two hours ago.
Setting camp meant, of course, laying down on the nearest tree.
He picked a big tree, and kept his dagger and walking stick within reach.
The Shadows were coming.
Toma closed his eyes restlessly.

Toma jerked awake. No one was within site...
But he was sure he had heard....
He shut his eyes again.

Toma jumped up this time. Something was wrong.
A bush moved. Two bushes. The wind was blowing up against Toma's face, but the bushes were to his right and left...
They were also bending towards him.
Toma quickly gained his bearings. He wasn't sleeping tonight.
He began to run.
He couldn't hear them behind him. But he could feel them.
He could feel it.
Five miles. Nothing. Just keep moving, don't trip, don't die.
Everyone was dieing. The shadow was coming, everyone was dead.

Harlee moved so the woman could leave, then looked inside of the fortune tellers house. Her eyes grew wide upon seeing the woman on the floor and she rushed inside. "Uhm...." she knelt down infront of Megumi's lifeless form. "Wake up?" she said

Megumi heard a voice and opened her eyes to see a woman in front of her. She had something very calming about her prescence which made Megumi feel better. "I'm sorry if I have worried you..." Megumi said as she looked away trying to hide her face that has turned red and blotvhy from crying.

"Oh, no. It's fine... A lady was leaving while I was delivering your milk, and I saw you on the floor. Sorry for intruding." she pushed herself back up from her kneal and looked around. She hadn't really believed the rumors at first that this woman was deeply into what she'd done, but looking at her home there was no doubt in Harlee's mind that Megumi could possibly be interested in anything other than her craft.

"Thank you..." Megumi said as she sniffed one last time. She got up from the floor and sat down in the nearest chair wich was covered in a soft white velvety material. Ofcourse if you could look closely you would see little ribbons on the velvet which were Megumi's signature colors. She looked around the room quickly and saw that the girl was looking around with interest. "Pretty don't you think so?" Megumi said as a smile spread across her face. "I'm Megumi." She said quickly after that.

The sun was rising unnaturally fast.
It did that as you ran towards the City.
It was always day in the City.
But the shadows were still there.
Toma began to notice just how many shadows are formed when light shines...
A shadow creature could be in any one of those regions of darkness...
But they weren't the problem.
They were like the tendrils of snow in an Avalanche that was preparing to force the sun to set even on the realm of the City.
Forever.
The City came into view, the forest ended, and total sunlight poured onto Toma.
He was safe, now.
But not for long. Soon, no one would be safe.

Harlee smiled back slightly. "I'm Harlee. I uh... deliver your milk every other Tuesday. It's nice to meet you." she said, then she lowered her voice. "You sound so excited when you tell your forunes.... I hear you a lot. Have they ever been wrong?" she asked.
