...To the Writer's Chatter Cafe, otherwise known as the Headquarters of the Alliance of Evil >D Got writer's block? Need some advice? Want to talk about your techniques with other writers? Chat here, discuss, talk about what works and what doesn't. Or just relax and enjoy the comfort of virtual coffee--
Please feel free to showcase any work: characters, plots, themes, or even excerpts from a novel, poem, short-story, etc. of your own writing or of your favorite author/poet/etc. Rules of the Road
*Follow Gaia TOS
*Keep it PG to moderate PG-13 please. We don't want to read about your characters..."special interests"
*When quoting a book/poem/etc. that you did not write, you MUST provide credit to the author in some way shape or form! Basically, make it clear that you are showing someone else's work!
*When posting your own writings, please keep it relatively short. We don't want to read novels here, just excerpts (this is also for copyright reasons; you wouldn't want your lovely story stolen!)
*Critiques are welcomed and encouraged, but keep it civil people! Disagreements should be handeled in PMs. We want to keep the thread vibe relaxed
*Respect, Respect, Respect!
*Try and keep it Disney related-- If you're going to post a page long rant about coca-cola, take a minute to write "Simba is awesome!"
*Say please and thank you heart ~Writer's Chatter Cafe~

Salutations.
I suppose I will cut straight to the point. Now, when using original characters in the disney worlds, what sort of original characters do you tend to use? Meaning, do you like employing villains, romantic interests, rivals, sidekicks, etc in your fanworks?

*walks in, hears the little DING of the bell hanging over the entrance*
Hey, I was thinking of making something like this not too long ago XD
*takes a seat at one of the tables*
Glad that something like this was made. I had made Lumiere's Lottery sort of having something like this in mind, a place where people could just chat and stuff along with doing contests.
It's sort of dead, or atleast almost dead XD

Goodness, the virtual coffee is strong today. N, even the Disney Villain's lairs are pretty lively. 'cept Malificent's. But she turns into a dragon at the end, so that's okay. Who do you guys think is the best Disney villain?

As evil and interesting as Disney Villains are, lets try to keep on topic, this thread is for discussing writings and such. I'm not trying to be a buzz kill, just want to respect the creator's intention for this thread.
~
I've always liked dabbling in the thought of continuing Basil of Bakerstreet's adventures, after all, if you think of it, what movie is better for a sequel, and it doesn't even have to have anything to do with the original movie, because it could follow any particular case that you wanted it to, and it'd still be canon.
Its been a fun thought of pitting Basil against a mousified version of the phantom of the opera, this idea was partially influenced by "The Angel of the Opera: Sherlock holmes meets the phantom of the opera" written by Sam Siciliano, which was actually a very fun book to writes.
What do you all think?

alley-lion Salutations.
I suppose I will cut straight to the point. Now, when using original characters in the disney worlds, what sort of original characters do you tend to use? Meaning, do you like employing villains, romantic interests, rivals, sidekicks, etc in your fanworks? Good evening~* I personally like to use the world that Disney creates, and then tell another story in that world that subtly coincides with the original story in a harmonious way 3nodding So I suppose I like to make my own characters Although, if I were to add OCs into the original cast, it would have to be rivals- they keep the plot moving and can be used in many different ways. I'm not a big fan of the 'same story, new villian' technique, so that's least likely for me. smile

H O R S E S are L O V E was basil the mouse in the great mouse detective? Yup! Basil of Bakerstreet. ~ Rivals are really fun. Personally I like using allies who turn out to be enemies in one way or another, though not replacing the original villain. Actually, rivalry with the villain is fun.
