Yoshitsune jujitsu is one of the Japanese styles of jujitsu. It is a fully self-defense style art, in which weapons are not used. The primary focus is on manipulation of the attacker's body by using their momentum against them. The art also includes grappling, throws, locks, and strikes. The only training a student receives about weaponry is what to do once they have disarmed their opponent.

Here is the link to Soke DePasquale's website: http://www.depasqualeacademy.com/history.htm

Soke DePasquale is the headmaster of yoshitsune. I have actually had the chance to train with him once, and he is well deserving of the title. He makes the art look fluid and effortless, just as it should be.

I've been a practitioner of yoshitsune jujitsu for over six years now, and am a second degree black belt. If anyone has any questions, I will be try my best to answer them.

when people think jiu-jitsu, they think grappling ... that being said ... how does Yoshitsune jujitsu stack up against BJJ ...

It sounds, from description provided, to be similar in many ways to Judo (which I know jiujitsu had a hand in spawning.) Perhaps similar, just more comprehensive in the submissions?

I honestly couldn't say, as I know little to nothing about Brazilian jiu jitsu. However, yoshitsune is designed so that the practitioner should be able to manipulate even another martial artist's attacks- just as in judo, like Ryker mentioned. Unless BJJ is the same way, yoshitsune jujitsu might have the upper hand.

I seen traditional jujitsu how they trained it's not as laid back as BJJ

I was wondering how it would this style of jiu-jitsu match up with say catch wrestling ...
