I wanna buy it to learn Russian and I want yer opinions; is it worth it?

I have it but I seriously don't think it's worth the $300. You can get the same sort of thing from LiveMocha and other free sites.

First learn the alphabet, figure out how to use Cyrillic on an English keyboard (they make Russian - English transliterators for Firefox or buy a Cyrillic keyboard) then join LiveMocha. smile

And take an actual Russian class, if you can...

And if I were to drop 300 bucks, I'd rather just go learn at a community college. While that is more expensive, I feel it to be more worth my while.

One of my friends gave her Itailan software from Roseta Stone saying it didn't teach her anything so I gave it a try. They didn't teach you about anything but simple words with out any sturture. You weren't sure if they were saying "The ball" or "A ball". Save your money. You can get an audiobook on itunes called Rapid....(insert langauge here). It is $10 but it beats Roseta stone.
For a free site you can go to Byki.com. They have a flash card system (if you like those) with Audio playback.

I hate Rosetta Stone with a passion. It blindly teaches you a language and has a big price tag. I hate LiveMocha for the same reason, except LiveMocha's free and even worse. You MAY learn random words, but you will NOT be able to learn sentences, conjugations, etc., which are all extremely important parts of learning a language. I guess LiveMocha's better than nothing, but try looking for some good free language learning websites. I'd help you out with some good sites if it was Japanese, but as I'm not learning Russian idk any good sites for it. Maybe try some of the sites here, because delicious users usually bookmark the best sites.

You could try http://www.russianpod101.com/ ...it costs $8 to subscribe for a month and during that month you can download all the podcasts on the site. I can't vouch for Russian version, but the Japanese, Korean, and Chinese versions are all good, so I'd imagine the Russian is also.

i don't think any of those expensive softwares of websites are worth it
i like the old-fashioned dictionary-plus-grammar
i think you learn a lot more when you have to solve things for yourself, instead of having info just shoved into your brain D:

Rosseta stone is a good software program it's just the price is high, LiveMocha does the same thing for free

Definitely not worth the money, take everyone elses advice here. Need listening and speaking practice? Get Skype. It's free! Find natives to talk to you and you're cooking on gas, as they say.

Rosetta Stone isn't worth the money. All it does is feed you vocabulary words, but what use are they when you can't utilize them properly? It doesn't even teach you grammar or verb conjugation. And from what I've heard, LiveMocha is pretty much the same thing, only free.

And I REALLY hate that Rosetta Stone commercial on TV where there's people claiming that they learned another language completely from RS and that it was like "having a tutor right in front of you." It's ridiculously misleading.

I watched an infomercial for Rosetta Stone on Japanese TV this one time.
The host would speak to Japanese people who had used it in very, very slow English and they replied in broken English.
Then the host would praise them on how good their English was.

I thought RS was useless before seeing that, but after...
