It was more than a thousand years ago since the fall of the sea…all its treasures were cast into the hollow abyss that lays below our floating islands…no one knows why the oceans left…some say a giant creature swallowed the seas, the oceans, our precious water…that is only myth...however, not all myths are legend. If one brave soul were to set to the skies he just might find himself caught up in the whirlwind between reality and fantasy…

–The Chronicles of Godwin, Salem

- - ♦ - -

The Floating Isles of Zadea have existed for over a thousand years. After a great and terrible calamity, the world’s largest bodies of water, the oceans and seas, disappeared without reason. Records from that period of time were damaged and many are unreadable due to the circumstances revolving around the decay of the documents, written on what would appear to be paper. Any technologies that were discovered during the most recent excavations of ancient sites along the main islands only proved that civilizations did exist however; the findings have left many questions unanswered. Scholars and archaeologists have concluded that there is a connection between the loss of the bodies of water and the sudden appearance of the extremely deadly, and quite possibly, lethal gases that swell up in large patches around the continents.

Government
The isles of Zadea are ruled by an oligarchic system of government. This means that a group decides all laws and dictations. The group mentioned is comprised entirely of noble blooded men and women. They have kept a strong hold on the people for as long as history can remember. The ten-seated group relies on a ranking system to devise their work and power. The highest chair leads the council while the others do work such as gathering taxes and enforcing laws. The laws past by these men are often only beneficial for those in the elite class. Little consideration is ever shown for the middle and lower class citizens.

The regulations have even gone so far as to limit the amount of fresh water one can have with them. Without an official seal, owning water is illegal. It is a crime punishable by death in some circumstances.

It goes without saying that the government is not well liked. Plenty of citizens have attempted to rebel, but all attempts were complete failures. After the repeated humiliating experiences, the people have learned to keep their displeasure to a low murmur.

The current council is as followed:

User Image

Chair 1:
Ralc Galac
Nicknamed ‘the king’, this man is a charismatic devil. Ever sense he has taken over his father’s position as the first chair this man has shown a drive for power. He is a man of control. Little is known about him. Rumor has it that he has a son who is very sickly.

User Image

Chair 2: Musca Short
Ralc’s right hand man. He is a man who attacks first and asks question later. In his mind, no problem cannot be solved with a swing of his sword. It is said that this man single handedly took down the last rebellion. He is cruel and often violent.

User Image

Chair 3: Lysi Carrillo
The only female of the counsel. Rumor has it that she is a spy. She tends to know everybody’s secrets. She is not afraid to manipulate a situation in any way she sees fit. She is extremely loyal to Ralc. It is even rumored that she has her mind set on becoming his new bride.

Chair 9: Lowen Galac
The previous Head Chair. He stepped down when he though his son was ready to step down. He is a magician and a retired fighter. This elderly man used to be known as the terror of the north, but in the last few years his perspective has been completely altered. In his final years he is doing his best to make up for his mistakes. His interest is devoted to helping the poor.

User Image

Chair 10: Errol Lloyd
The youngest of the Chairs. This noble is still getting used to his power. His opinion is not always recognized. Most of the time Errol hovers around Lowen, who he sees as his mentor. He is a soft-spoken soul who just happens to have a growing interest in the ruins.

Wildlife

The animals in this area is unique to say the least. There are plenty of creatures that have never been heard of or even imagined wandering this land. Many of the animals are docile and harmless, but others can be completely dangerous. Be wary of your encounters.

User ImageFire Bird— A majestic bird, which is said to be able to create sparks that dance across the sky every time it flies. They are a site to behold at sunrise or sunset.

User ImageFlying Fish— A breed of fish that can take flight. The fish often travel in schools so grand that they can fill the sky.

User Image Winged Lizards—These large creatures are drawn to humans of power. They are often seen around nobles. It is not uncommon to see a noble child carrying around the egg of one of these creatures. They are very protective and will die to protect those they believe to be precious.

User ImageBull Man— These creatures seem to be a mix of human and bull. The temperament is never friendly. They are seen only in ancient sites, and always appear to be guarding something.

User ImageUser ImageUser ImageHaired Giant— A species similar to that of the wooly mammoth. These huge creatures travel the land in herds. They are often hunted for their valuable tusks and pelts.

User Image Widow Maker— A sly female-only species that delight in tempting men. By using a number of tricks they lead unsuspecting people to their doom. They should be avoided at all costs.

User ImageHellish Breed— A pathetic looking animal that seems to be mixed of several different animals. These creatures can be trained for protection or show, but the wild ones are quite violent.

User ImageWalking Dead— Trapped souls on earth bound by an evil form of magic. Their form is an ethereal human covered in flames. These creatures are normally harmless, but they can be dangerous in groups.

The Legend

“Man is the only animal whose desires increase as they are fed; the only animal that is never satisfied.”

--Henry George

What happened to all the other animals and why are there so many mechanical things running around? Well, these machines are the animals, or at least what remains of them. A strange thing happens to creatures that get too close to man. For some reason every species that is exposed to man for too long seem to die out. Why is the big question. A legend tells us of the power of a soul.

Legend tells us that man was born without a soul. He had no conscious or reason. He killed and did other horrible crimes against nature. The magic tried to protect the pure animals from man, but some strayed to observe this strange being called a human. It was at this point where the legend becomes dark.

According to legend man charmed these animals. Soon they became friends. Then, when the animals were truly unsuspecting, man stole from the animals the one thing that he did not have, a soul. He ripped the spirit right from the animals. The soulless creatures died in the most horrible way imaginable, but man got what he wanted. For man always gets what he wants.

Following this dark legend, all animals that man ever got close to humans died. They became sick, met horrible accidents, or simply vanished. In order to preserve the image of the animals lost, men began to build mechanical creatures. They run on steam and a bit of magic. This combination seems to give birth to the technology. They act as if they really alive. It is a poor substitute, but this fake being is enough to give most people the false sense of forgiveness that they think they deserve.

World Map:
This Map is already facing North. The light Purple areas are breathable air while the Navy coloured area is the more toxic air. Under all the is the Wastelands. It is inhabited by many foul creatures. The closer you get to the bottom, the more toxic the air becomes. Technology has not advanced enough to travel to these areas at this point however, it may be open to exploration in the future.

Geography:
The world of Zadea is made up of floating continents or isles. There are many, diverse ecosystems from the Icy Wasteland of Jaidi to the Deserted Plains of Tenov.

The equator divides the world into two hemispheres; it cuts Stianandra directly in half. The warmest, all year round weather is along this line.

The major cities of the world are:

User Image
Zeitle: The Capital City of the Whole World. This is where the Nobles and the richest of the rich live. The centre is exclusive to those of high standing positions in society. The farther from the centre you travel, the poorer the area becomes. The farthest area outwards is country side before small little hubs of ports and docks where trading takes place. The most prosperous city on the whole isle of Stianandra is known as 'Feelik' the Imperial Port. It is heavily guarded which means, there are no images allowed to be taken of this area. It is the only other city that is as prosperous as the Capital City. (Click Image to enlarge)

User ImageToleama: The Second largest city in the world, located on Siosae. It is a port town located closely to the continent of Stianandra. This port is prosperous for its closeness to the Capital however, it attracts much unwanted attention such as illegal Pirates and Treasure Hunters. At night the place becomes very shady and it is certainly not a safe place to be at. Army men are posted around the docking area and the main entrances and exits to try and discourage outlaws from entering the city. The main industry of this city is trading (prostitution, illegal substances, technology and more) not to mention the unusual characteristics of the city attract tourists from all over the world. (Click Image to enlarge)

User Image
Wittenburg: The Third mot visited city of all of Zadea is located in Eotir. It is a population travel destination for its charming, Victorian style housing and attractions (including bars, shops a water fountain and the most popular, Gardens of Namale, named after the beautiful princess who died at a young age, before the takeover and unification of the world). This city is heavily guarded and well protected. It is peaceful and no injustice is tolerated. (Click Image to enlarge)

Places of Interest:

User Image
Lom; The Hidden Isle: The Hidden Isle of Lom is considered a wonderful place for people in search of adventure to explore. It is dangerous, mythical creatures run wild and there are still traps inside the ruins. There are rumours of a great treasure that lies hidden within the deepest parts; the heart of the ancient city.(Click Image to enlarge)

User Image
Dream; The Isles Lost in Mist: The Isles Lost in Mist, Dream, are thought to be the most beautiful and the most deadly isles in the world. The Mist has a habit of make things appear or disappear coupled with the Sirens that have made home here makes the trip deadly to any one who travels there. There are also rumours that the Mist not only disorients the traveller, but prolonged effects can lead to insanity or, even more far-fetched, a complete transformation from human to mythical beast. The treasures have never been discovered and for anyone who dares travel here, the rewards are befitting more then one hundred kings. (Click Image to enlarge)

User Image
Yavvon; The Ruins of a Fallen World: The Ruins of a Fallen World, Yavvon is located on the small isle of Yalni. It is home to many creatures and was once a isle of prosperity. However, sometime in history, the whole population disappeared without a trace leaving their treasures behind. There a many traps that lay hidden within the temples and a legend of an ancient curse that protects the treasures from hunters and grave robbers. (Click Image to enlarge)

Religion if the basis of everything from law to conduct in the home.

–William Torem

- - ♦ - -

There were once many religions in the world, all diverse and all with different guides, legends and truths. Throughout the life time of the humans on this world, religions have changed and grow or simply disappeared into dust. By the current era, there is one main religion and there are two others that are less practised but still important. This informational post will deal with the main three of this world.

- - ♦ - -

Itallien, Solarium, Soram and Jainism:

Itallien:
This religion is centred in Stianandra but is wide spread throughout the whole world. It is the most commonly worshipped religion.

The Basis of this Religion comes from the original Ten Commandments of The Grace for which the first original law system is credited to. This is one of the longest, most unchanged religions.

There is one deity known as 'The Grace', the omniscient and omnipotent watcher of the world. The Cathedral, centred in Stianandra, often conducts religious ceremonies from birth to death and all in between. There are many ceremonies that can be/ are conducted however, to go into detail would take too long to explain. The main ones are:

Birth,
The Age of Receiving Grace (ten years old),
Confirmation of Faith (fourteen years old),
The Entrance into Manhood (males at age eighteen),
The Entrance into Womanhood (females at age sixteen),
Marriage,
Confirmation of Faith (age forty) and
Preparation for Death.

User ImageUser ImageThere are three prayer times in a day, morning, noon and before nightfall. Other prayer times can take place within the home or at work.

The main prayer of the Italliens is as followed:

"The Grace, our guide, is ever present and ever-loving.
The Grace will provide for all our needs and protect us from the devils of this world.
The Grace is all-knowing and all-forgiving.
The Grace, our saviour, will guide us through our lives.
The Grace is our mother, our father and our life.
Forever is The Grace.
Amen."

Solarium:
This religion is found mostly in the floating continent Eotir and it is the worship of the Gods Sol and Luna. Sol is worshipped publicly on the first morn of the New Year and Luna on the Second Night of the New Year. They are also worshipped on the cycle of the falling star (the longest day of the year and Luna is worshiped during the longest night of the year).

On the nights of the worshipping of Luna, all believers wear nothing but white, a symbol of purity and strength. Black is considered unholy and disgraceful unless the person is in mourning.

During the celebration of Sol, all worshippers wear bright colours, white is not commonly worn.

No animals are sacrificed to worship the Gods however; Sol receives tributes of vegetables while Luna receives fruit.

Worship can occur in the homes or in public alters. The people of this religion may worship either Sol or Luna, but it is common to worship both. Lastly, worshipping is flexible. Many people tend to only fast on worship days (for Sol only. Fasting happens from before sun rise and ends at sunset) and do not pray at all until the worship season has begun.

Soram:
An offspring of Solarium and is classified as the same religion but a different sector. These people are more liberal in their views of the world.

Jainism:
This religion is based on the belief that all humans are born with no souls. It is the least liked religion by popular demand however, it is still preached through the different floating isles of the world. It, however, is not celebrated in Stianandra because of the unusual mythologies that go against the Council's rule. It is not outlawed, however, preaching is to be conducted at home and those who are found to be preaching it to others on the streets are fair game for the jail (depending on the seriousness and repeated offence will determine the length of punishment).

This Religion worships no deity or God, it worships the humans and their bodies. People who are involved in this religion are often found with full-body tattoos.

Currency

User Image

The currency of Z is all in coins. The rate is divided into three different values: bronze, silver, and gold. The lowest value of these is the bronze coin. Five bronze coins equal one silver piece. A gold piece is worth ten bronze coins. By this standard two silver coins equal one gold coin.

Fashion

User Image
User Image
The fashion of the isles is a mixture of old western and elegant Victorian wear. The style of ones clothing can say a lot about where they rank on the social bar. The more elegant the outfit the higher status you have. The nobles have an almost completely Victorian style. The colors and styles of the fabrics are far more sophisticated than the drab, heavy wear of the common folk.

Most men dress in loose shirts with buttoned vest. These are often tied off with a tie or an ascot. Depending on the region, pant styles can vary. Most are designed to be sturdy. They sacrifice comfort for safety.

For women the fashion dictates that they should wear dresses. It is scandalous to see a woman showing her legs or wearing pants, but that does not mean it is never done. For the tops most women wear a corset over a loose blouse.

Most people often bundle in layers to fight off the chill of the cold nights, so it is not uncommon for a person to wear one or two jackets. Gloves and scarves are also fairly popular.

Shoes are usually high legged boots. This is not just for fashion. The style is used to provide protection against the many insects that often infest the area.

When it comes to accessorizing there are a few popular items. Spurs and belts are often seen. Leather is another thing that people can never have enough of. If one wishes to finish off the perfect look, it is always safe to have a cool hat and a pair of goggles.
